It has come to my attention that in the new innovative shooter to be released by Bungie may not be all it is cracked up to be. On the surface, we see the marriage of two classic games, Halo and Borderlands. But there is something far nastier deep within, that Bungie does not want you to know about. Yes, my fellow gamers, this game is encouraging and perpetuating the rape culture in America today.
Before you plug your ears and pretend that this game does not encourage the objectification and submission of women, hear me out. I'll start with the smallest thing first. On the website, the character models depicting the various guardians are all male. Yes, all of them are depicted as male. Not only is this encouraging patriarchy, but it also shows that being male should clearly be the first choice when considering which gender to choose for your character. I propose that each Guardian be shown as male and female, equally. In addition to this, if you do choose a female character, their faces are covered by masks. This is the exact same thing that occurs with women in the Middle East, to prevent other men from infringing on the "property" of a man. This is absolutely disgusting.
Let us move on to a greater issue. The body types of Guardians in Destiny are encouraging rape. Hey, did you know that there is more than one body type? By limiting our options to a single body shape and not allowing for plus-sized women, we are encouraging that women continue to objectify themselves further to please the patriarchal fascism that is driving this country apart. Objectification is one of the many facets of this disgusting rape culture, and by perpetuating this, we are encouraging the continued mass-raping of women everywhere.
So, we have the objectification of women through forced mask wearing and the limited body type options. The continued objectification of women in video games is yet another way we are perpetuating rape culture. By continuing to encourage this culture, we are continuing the encouragement of rape itself. Tell me now, do you feel good about being a part of the further stamping-out of women's rights? All the hyping up of Destiny is just a plot to drive the idea that "women are your property" further into your brains. Well, guess what? Not me. I see past the lies and smokescreen, and go straight to the unfortunate truth. I encourage you all to cancel your preorders of this game, in the first step in fighting the discrimination against women through video games.
Thank you for your time :)

Males wear helmets, too, and characters of both genders can opt to not wear their helmet if they're in non-combat areas. Did you even play the game?

1 OdpowiedźEveryone likes to say games objectify women, and for the most part, they're not too far off. Most games embody women with voluptuous breasts and half-naked wardrobes but Destiny is not one of them. In Destiny, you play a GUARDIAN, which is a soldier. To expect a soldier to be plus-sized is not very common. Regardless of whatever his or her body type is or was prior to being a soldier, most people change after becoming a soldier. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying there are guys and girls with perfect model shapes, but they are, for the most part, in an athletic shape as their fields demand. I was heavy before I enlisted in the Marine corps, and the boot camp alone gave me a dramatic change. I have nothing against plus-sized men or women, but in a game about space soldiers, you're just going to have to accept that it's not common for an active soldier, space or not, to not be athletic. As far as -blam!-, I don't see anything on Destiny that makes me want to go out and -blam!- someone. In fact, it makes me want to do the opposite. Who would be so stupid enough to try and -blam!- a Guardian who's already armored as -blam!-! Just so I can meet her resistance with a hammer/storm calling/golden gun/blade dance/fist of havoc or panic? #gtfoh!

But the guys also have limitied body type options too? I mean I'm a girl and I don't really see an issue with the body types, it's just that a lot of guys have chosen a female character instead of a male so it's hard to tell what their actual gender is irl. It's just easier to use one body type rather than many, as not only does it take up a huge amount of time to create, but it also means taking time away from the other game mechanics, such as more end-game content, fixing glitches, patching raids and whatnot As for the masks, are you talking about the helmets used as armor? I really can't tell if you're a troll or not

8 OdpowiedziAs a fellow female, I highly encourage you to shut up and to stop looking for sexism where there is none "Their faces are covered with masks" They're helmets, they protect them from getting shot by space lasers in their face holes things... There seriously should be a line between actual sexism problems and people being absolutely moronic... bloody hell >->

I would just like to point out that: A) There is an option to change your model on the website to female B) There is an option in-game that allows you to have your helmet off during non-combat sequences C) There is also only 1 male body type available when creating characters. (On the topic of body shape and body image complex; the world is actually gravitating towards a more healthy/fit look opposed to the once-desirable skin and bone. There is nothing wrong with promoting "healthy" and there is more than enough information out there to assist people in their dietary goals. ALSO, to say that only women are objectified based on their appearance is in fact sexist itself and completely bull Shit. I am all for gender EQUALITY, not gender empowerment. D) I feel as though you have put a lot of thought into this. I also feel as though you must have been a victim of gender discrimination at some point for this reason. For that, I am truly sorry. However, the argument you have made, to me, is quite a reach. Most of your points can be argued against very easily. Please keep this in mind: Women are not victims. People are victims. And the longer we separate the two genders, the longer it will take for things to change. Although you may have good intentions, you are still making a clear distinction between male and female.
