The Unfortunate Truth - Uncovering Sexism in Destiny

It has come to my attention that in the new innovative shooter to be released by Bungie may not be all it is cracked up to be. On the surface, we see the marriage of two classic games, Halo and Borderlands. But there is something far nastier deep within, that Bungie does not want you to know about. Yes, my fellow gamers, this game is encouraging and perpetuating the ra‏‏‏‏pe culture in America today. Before you plug your ears and pretend that this game does not encourage the objectification and submission of women, hear me out. I'll start with the smallest thing first. On the website, the character models depicting the various guardians are all male. Yes, all of them are depicted as male. Not only is this encouraging patriarchy, but it also shows that being male should clearly be the first choice when considering which gender to choose for your character. I propose that each Guardian be shown as male and female, equally. In addition to this, if you do choose a female character, their faces are covered by masks. This is the exact same thing that occurs with women in the Middle East, to prevent other men from infringing on the "property" of a man. This is absolutely disgusting. Let us move on to a greater issue. The body types of Guardians in Destiny are encouraging ra‏‏‏‏pe. Hey, did you know that there is more than one body type? By limiting our options to a single body shape and not allowing for plus-sized women, we are encouraging that women continue to objectify themselves further to please the patriarchal fascism that is driving this country apart. Objectification is one of the many facets of this disgusting ra‏‏‏‏pe culture, and by perpetuating this, we are encouraging the continued mass-ra‏‏‏‏ping of women everywhere. So, we have the objectification of women through forced mask wearing and the limited body type options. The continued objectification of women in video games is yet another way we are perpetuating ra‏‏‏‏pe culture. By continuing to encourage this culture, we are continuing the encouragement of ra‏‏‏‏pe itself. Tell me now, do you feel good about being a part of the further stamping-out of women's rights? All the hyping up of Destiny is just a plot to drive the idea that "women are your property" further into your brains. Well, guess what? Not me. I see past the lies and smokescreen, and go straight to the unfortunate truth. I encourage you all to cancel your preorders of this game, in the first step in fighting the discrimination against women through video games. Thank you for your time :) #YesAllWomen
