"Flying through space with friends"
If you were going even from Earth to Jupiter, it would be the equivalent of a several hour car ride at the speed of light. Even to Mars would be at least a half-hour (I forget exactly how long, but it's at least 30 minutes). If our ships went a lot slower than that, it would take days or weeks.

Obviously the distances would be unrealistic.

Yeah, but unless they're short enough that you can see Jupiter in the sky about the same size as the Moon, it would still be at least, like, 10-15 minutes.
