A Question for the Highschool Students here.
So I graduated a few years before this "anti-bullying" movement started, or at least before the media latched onto it (a few years ago when the gay teen suicides prompted it).
While I have my own pessimistic theories on why it's being given so much focus, I was curious; do you see an effect of it in your schools? Do your teachers talk about it? Is a "bully" something that people shame each other for being?

Could type a big long useless post but Im just ganna provide example: teachers freshman year say "no bullying" then its exactly the same as it was before.

3 OdpowiedziThe anti bullying campaign doesn't help anything in the slightest. Schools still continue to punish victims along with the bullies and completely discourage all self defence, which is ridiculous.

The whole nature of "bullies" are the cool popular kids trashing the small unpopular ones. Of course none of this anti bully shit is helping because even if they don't want to admit it, the lil guys look of and admire bullies to some degree for their popularity. In my school as soon as the lil people get bigger and stronger then they start bulling. The only way around this is if you join a club or make some friends.

I don't imagine it has any real effect until it hits your school specifically. It certainly didn't have a prominent effect on me until last year, when a student shot himself in the open near a few dozen students. We've been real brothers to each other since, and I wear a necklace to promote our specific anti-bullying movement every day.

Or maybe it's to acclimate the newer gen to always look to authority to handle your problems instead of handling it yourself? bc there's always some political agenda when the media constantly pushes a message no one would ever oppose. and that's my tin foil hat theory :)

I'm a sophomore and no one actually takes that stuff seriously. It's all really an inconvenience to everyone and it causes more punishment for things that would happen anyway.

>Lives in Texas, just for reference of my area. Nothing more than a few anti-bullying shirts around campus, the groups at my school are pretty tight knit and protective of their friends, chances are that nerdy kid you're bullying is friends with someone a lot bigger and tougher than you are.

Im from michigan, and people blow it out of way uo.. if you are a dick and have no friends your thr poor kid getting bullied. I get that some kids really do and thr bullies that do tjat deserve to get a boot to the jaw but now its become an attention thing.

I was picked on sometimes in high school and I picked on others at time. Now, there are some extreme cases going on, but that's any school in any decade. People need to stop being babies about it and nut up. Just sayin.

Teachers and other staff members do tend to talk about it in announcements, but I haven't seen it around school, or have heard of any incidents, in my class. Some freshmen do tend to try and bully other kids (especially the football freshmen), but it hasn't gone too far(suicide, or shooting)....

We never had a bully problem, we do have fight problems though since there is one every damn week at my school.

I honestly don't see any serious bullying go on at my school. I've never been the victim of it, and I'm certainly not the bully, so I'm not exactly sure where it is happening, if it even is.

Throughout my highschool years, start to finish, I never witnessed bullying.
