In every thread I see about how the xbox one has a strict used game policy, there is always those people that have to say "I'm moving to ps4".
You guys realise that most likely they will do the same thing microsofts doing.

1 OdpowiedźOnly one company had these rumors popping up and swirling around them like wildfire. PS4 always had fears but never the constant rumors and leaks about it. PS4 is also already confirmed to play without issue offline so structurally it IS impossible for the PS4 to do the same thing. Anything like 24 hour DRM checks on used games will have to be enacted 100% by greedy publishers. I wouldn't put it past them but I can avoid games from a single publisher. I couldn't avoid MS's system because it's build by design into every game it will ever have.

8 OdpowiedziSo, the gaming industry has been declining since 2008. Sony is focusing primarily on gaming, where as Microsoft is aiming for a more broad spectrum. Fault it all you want, but when you base your primary focus on a declining market, you aren't going to make as much money. Following a simple chain of logic Less Money -> Smaller Budget -> Less Resources -> Less Money to invest in companies -> Less money securing exclusives -> Overall reduction of what the console has to offer. Essentially, Sony is hoping to make enough money from gaming to beat out Microsoft and secure more exclusives. Microsoft, on the other hand, has the door open to invest more into deals with publishers and developers, including offering ways to deter and reduce piracy, and ways to secure larger revenue from games by controlling to used games market. This makes the Xbox One a much more inviting console to developers, which further helps to secure exclusives on the Xbox One. If the PS4 kills used games the way the Xbox One does, it's going to have a shot at staying alive, but otherwise, it's going to end this generation in the red. Sony cannot continue to spend money ensuring the PS4 has exclusives if they don't recover the losses, and expecting to do so by aiming at a declining market is essentially trying to not only reverse an entire market trend, but do so quickly enough to make a large enough profit to overcome its competitors. My prediction: The Xbox One and PS4 will both have lackluster launches. Both will publicly predict numbers they won't realistically reach, and both will quietly admit they didn't hit the mark. The difference is, the Xbox One will be poised to take in different crowds of people, while the PS4 will struggle to get enough hardcore adopters to push forward.

They probably will, but there isnt any information released saying that they will restrict used games for sure. Until that info is released people are going to go with what they think is best, which to me is the PS4. There's also the chance that it might not be as strict as Microsoft , but it's really all speculation right now.

Wii U + PC master race

12 OdpowiedziI really think people have forgotten how to read. Microsoft has confirmed multiple times that Xbox One will play used games. And will allow people to trade games back to select retailers (aka GameStop). You can also let your friends borrow you're games no problem. I really don't understand what the problem is here.

3 OdpowiedziPersonally, until I know everything about both consoles I won't make a descision. Though after Microsoft's involvement in PRISM and the Kinect requirements, I doubt I will be getting an Xbox
-
I never said I was moving to PS4. I'm gunna wait and see what nonsense they reveal and if it's as bad as Xbox One then pc gaming I will stick with.

Sony is just taking notes on what microsoft is doing and saying "Ok just don't mention these things"

1 OdpowiedźEdytowany przez użytkownika BerzerkCommando: 6/8/2013 8:52:28 PMYes they haven't said it yet, but they probably know about the backlash MS is getting from it. Which means they probably have the same old policy to look good to the gamers. It would be dumb if they are going to do the same thing their competition is doing that's being hated.
-
Don't know what they're doing, really. We know there's no online connection requirement for PS4 so I don't know how they'd implement the same plan Microsoft is.

Edytowany przez użytkownika Arbiter 739: 6/8/2013 10:31:50 PMI'm basically abandoning the next generation of consoles outright, though I'm keeping an eye on what Sony brings.

Sony will have the same policy. Publishers are the ones who have always tried to abolish the used game market, so if the PS4 didn't have the same used game policy that the X1 has, why would publishers want to develop for a system that would earn them less money for their games?
-
still won't support M$. Although it depends how it works. I doubt that will be a thing but I reserve my final decision until they release the info. I'm getting a WiiU regardless, I still own those games. Also what reason would they have for no used games? We know they never even considered always online as to not hurt gamers around the world and aren't pushing Uber-DRM on the console so I will assume they aren't doing that until they say otherwise.
-
Why would they do that when they've got the upper hand now?

I see it this way, if Microsoft is putting these policies in place then you know that Sony will too. Publishers want these policies in place and they'll have them one way or the other. The way that I buy and trade-in used games, according to Microsoft, hasn't changed at all.

4 OdpowiedziThere is always crazy speculation when a console is announced. Most of the claims, like not playing used games, are just too farfetched. I only expect additions of things, not removals. So, basically, expect the console to do more, not less.

My moving?
-
Sony has not said anything about them doing the same as Microsoft. I doubt they will either.
-
If Sony doesn't screw up like Micro$oft, I will get a PS4 since my other friends are interested in getting it now. If Sony does -blam!- it up, I'm going PC.
-
It is a wait-and-see situation.

Ultimately, it comes down to the publisher whether a used copy is valid or not. The problems with Xbone are far more reaching than just used games.
