What would have made the Didact much better? And no, you can't say, "by having no Didact and or Halo 4 at all".

Why not make Chief a good hero first?

Had they incorporated the information revealed in Silentium, I think he would've been much better. The Librarian cutscene was okay, but I'm not so sure that throwing the idea of a space-faring ancient humanity fighting the Forerunners at the typical Halo fan and never going into any greater detail was a good move. It wasn't terrible, but when most people still viewed the Forerunners as the good guys and our special friends who loved us, could've been better. Chronarch down below raised some good points, especially the splitting of Reclaimer into two missions.

More screen-time, more explanation of his hatred, a cutscene or two between him and Cortana debating the fate of the human race, (and didact using cortana's rampancy as a sign of humanity's incompetency) and seriously, more screen-time, we don't learn jack about him in game.

Edytowany przez użytkownika Palien90: 6/8/2013 11:01:53 PMMake him appear much earlier in the story and have him do something bad to someone close to John. OR just scrap him altogether. Have a character that we SEE do bad things or that we SEE do something to someone. Nobody cared when that old lady god fried.

2 OdpowiedziA bit less of the vampire voldemort look would improve things a little, and maybe some cooler looking armour. Then of course explaining why he wants to kill all humans wouldn't hurt.
-
2 OdpowiedziShow more of his back story. Give him more motive.

Nothing major needs to be changed because he's already a fantastic villain who has his story fragmented across different forms of Halo's media. What needed to be done was ultimately to depict the events of the Forerunner Saga in the actual game. How would I have done this? First of all, by making the Terminals an actual part of the narrative - a side objective in each level which uncovers more and more of the Ur-Didact's backstory. Also, split Reclaimer into 2 missions - the first being a full-frontal assault style mission with the Mammoth but with larger scale battles and less waiting around, and the second being set inside the Forerunner cathedral you go in where you meet the Librarian. In this level, you'd be guided around by the Librarian's Essence, uncovering flashbacks from the more recent events of the Ur-Didact's past (things like how he was mind--blam!- by the Precursors). That's all, really. The only problem with the Didact is that so much of his backstory wasn't presented in the game (just like the Prophet of Truth...), his character himself is totally fine, we just needed more of his backstory to be shown.

Lengthen the game. Explain his (excellently written) backstory without giving him more screen time (preferably through Domain flashbacks or something) to keep the encounters with him as "holy sh1t" buildup moments.

Have joe Staten write his dialogue....
-
By actually having him in the -blam!-ing game. Seriously his on screen time is like 5 minutes. Pathetic. He has the potential to be one of the greatest villains in the franchise.

6 OdpowiedziExplain the Didact's motives in a more direct method because no one on the internet can seem to comprehend the Reclaimer cutscene at all. Except for a select few.
-
Well Halo 4 is done and done, so I am not going to say what would have made Didact better. However, on topic of making him a 'Good Villain', I can imagine that Halo 5 (though more likely Halo 6) will make him an ally in fighting the common enemy: the Flood.
-
3 OdpowiedziBy actually having to fight fight him. I know Halo is bad at boss battles but they didn't even try.
-
4 OdpowiedziGive him a better motivation than 'kill the humans because they stole my Mantle'. And make him less generic in general.
-
3 OdpowiedziBy giving him more quick time events.
