in Skyrim you can steal and murder but you cannot have -blam!- intercourse with your beloved wife.
How can people think that something so natural and beautiful as sex is inapropriate to put in a video game, while letting the player walk around in the game and kill virtually anything that moves is totally okay?
It makes me so angry ! It teaches young people that sex is worse than crime, and worst of all it ruins the gameing experience . When they leave out stuff like that it just makes it hard to feel that you're "inside" the game, it makes the world less believable.
If they had allowed the player to have sex in Skyrim, it would have made the game significantly better. It really bothers me that people have such a negative view on something so natural and beautiful.
I'm sure hundreds of threads like this one has already been made, but I just wanted to let my friends know how I feel. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Nick Nebowski (Africa)

Why would young kids need to play rated M games to begin with smart one?
-
Most people, unlike OP, will have sex in real life. You, most likely, will never get to kill someone in real life. Hence, the real fantasy appeal. Crying on the internet about why you can't have sex in a videogame is one of the most hilarious things I've heard.
Posted by: Locke357 Damn North American culture, considering violence more permissible than love.
Can love be transmitted into a video game? Can you "love" a character created by a group of male writers in a dimly lit room?

I don't think the game is all you want to be inside of.
-
Because everyone knows that having sex with anyone is completely disgusting and inappropriate, but butchering your neighbor in their own house is perfectly fine.
-
Because you should go outside to do that. And you should stay inside while killing people.

Because an AO rating can sometimes make it harder to sell games.

you do realise your character is a-blam!- in Skyrim, right? Plus there'd be species issues.

Read: I want to bone a virtual chick.

Its a symptom of ultra-violence being more tolerated in media than boobies. A sad fact, yes.
Posted by: Nebowski it just makes it hard to feel that you're "inside" the game
lololol But srs, our culture is obsessed with sex, and it's hilarious that you get so upset that while a game lets you kill anything in a beautiful fantasy world, you can't have sex with a virtual woman. It's actually pathetic. [Edited on 09.13.2012 10:35 AM PDT]

Get Witcher 2. You can't decapitate people (only in custcenes, and even then not often), but there's full nudity in it whenever you want, visit a brothel and pay for a whore.

I wonder if theres a Hot Sweetroll mod...

UK Age of Consent: 16 UK Legal age to watch -blam!-: 18 Being from the UK this is the kind of hypocracy I've grown used to, don't try and rationalise it, there is no rational reason for it, why is there no sex in Skyrim? Because not a lot of games do have it, it's occurring more often than before but there's still a ridiculous Taboo on this sort of content in games. Though, the same sort of Taboo used to be applied to violence as well, but we're over that now... UK Legal Age to Join the Army: 16 PEGI Rating of CoD/Battlefield: 18 ...Well, sort of over it anyway.
Posted by: dahuterschuter It doesn't teach people that. People think that, and that's why the game is that way. Remember the whole fiasco with sex in Mass Effect 2? Concerned mothers groups will always be there to ruin these things. Not that it is ruined, because who cares if you can't have sex in a video game. You have entire world to explore, dragons pop out from the sky, you can turn into a werewolf and rampage, you can go hunting in the forests and smith armor, you can wield spectacular magic, plunge into Ancient ruins to plunder treasure and magical items. All of this, and you want to hang out in a house and bang some Argonian. Get your gaming priorities in order.
What would Mass Effect be without romantic relationships? Just another boring ass action-game. What I mean by this is that many games have so much potential, but throw it away because of irrational people. Love is what made Mass Effect so great (imo, at least). I would like to see that in more games.
Posted by: Achilles1108 How does this ruin the gaming experience? I am in a land of dragons, vampires, magic, murder guilds, and daedric princes. Who the hell has time to bang?
+1

It's that it's an adventure game not a sex game.
Would allowing the players to have sex really make it into a sex game? It's an RPG, so I think not.
The fun of sex is not exactly something that can be recreated in a video game...so it doesn't make much sense to put the actual act of the player having sex in a game other than if its an erotic game, in which case the purpose of such parts of the game is obvious
Have you played the Mass Effect series? Bioware had the balls to let the gamers have -blam!- intercourse with their romantic interests. The fun of sex isn't something that can be recreated in a video game, and therefore is meaningless you say, but in ME the fact that you can take your relationship "to the next level" is part of what made the series so great. Don't you agree?
The sex in Mass Effect was not something you took part in. It was in a cutscene. To tell a story. To show that your character's effort in socializing has paid off. You weren't actually playing the game having sex like in the hot coffee mod or anything like that. You were just watching it happen like in a movie. A sex scene in a movie isn't supposed to, and doesn't, emulate a real life -blam!- experience.
Sorry if my OP was misleading but this is basicly what I meant with sex in games. I completely understand that people don't want games in which you control the character during sex (like "press A to insert -blam!-"). Had they had -blam!- cut-scenes in Skyrim it would have made it a better game. And I think Bethseda realizes this, but the artists are constricted by short-sighted people and media.
