If Bungie would port D2 and release Marathon already ported for use with Linux i.e. bazzite, steamos the player base would increase substantially. I haven't been playing much because I refuse to use Windows anymore and I never turn on my PS5 however I do know several people who like myself will only use linux on gaming setups. With Proton layers and wine etc, theres no reason why they shouldn't as it will most likely run without a lot of work added. People concern over anticheat, but i'll also say Easy Anti Cheat, Cerebro, and Denuvo seems tk work great for Embark, not only them but Elden ring uses EAC also. With the only 2 issues I see with Bungie not doing it being resolved here, they shouldn't have an excuse not to now. Embark is a direct competitor with Bungie in extraction shooters. They also have the edge over Bungie because they're one of the few devs that puts their games on Linux. Linux/steamos/bazzite/pop! Has a small selection of online shooters and adding D2 and Marathon will give players variety and will increase player count for D2 and increase sales and pre orders for Marathon. Just hurry up and do it. Got all these steamdeck players yearning for the fall of Crota.

D2 is done well on its last legs . The bubble burst for my with final shape an ever since just slowly playing less and less till now I not really playing . It was a blast so it’s all good .

Idt gaining the 5 people who play on Linux is worth the effort for them.

Once Linux reaches a market share that makes this financially viable then I’m sure that Bungie will be all over it. Until then things will remain as they are.

2 OdpowiedziDrop old gen consoles should be step 1…

Wouldn't help game and studio has bad reputation plus D2 is old now it's basically at the end of its new content life.

14 Odpowiedziless than 1% is what they stand to gain. Linux has a super small player base, even fewer of them would play d2 or marathon, and even fewer would buy anything. What would increase is people able to bypass the anticheat. Ask Apex Legends how that workd out. All that risk, all those resources spent, for less than 1 percent... I think bungie has been clear, its not worth it.
