I am a returning Destiny player from the early D1 days, and wanted to play Vault of Glass to ease myself back into raids. I was unfortunately met with the reality this afternoon that as of 02/09/2026 (mm/dd/yyyy), users are still unable to add their phone number for SMS validation after multiple years of it being posted on Bungie support forums, meaning that because of this ongoing issue that players have been complaining to you about for years and is strangely still unsolved, I am simply locked out of that content and more. What gives? Why force me into a system that literally has not worked for years and that you HAVE KNOWN FOR YEARS doesn't work, just to play content that you made a decade ago and didn't require this verification for? I am perfectly fine with adding a phone number to my account to access certain content it's not that unusual, SO LET ME DO IT. I tried it in incognito mode, in a different browser, on a different device with a different browser, VPN on/off, tracking security disabled on my browser, cookies enabled, tried it through the companion app, through the pop-up in game, during peak site traffic and the lowest traffic times of the day, I tried changing my emblem and updating my inventory, I even saw someone suggest you vault your entire inventory and that didn't work, it's almost like it's been left intentionally broken. Please, for the love of God, fix your website before you expect us to willingly hand over $30usd PER EXPANSION.
Tl;Dr: I have tried every method for error code (1618) during SMS validation for a week now, and after spending the last hour scrolling for suggestions, I've turned up absolutely nothing. This issue seems to have been going on for multiple years now unsolved, so I ask that something either be done to fix the SMS validation, or you simply find a better way to validate new players that your API can handle.

I’m having the same exact issue I enter my cell # hit send code and boom 1618 every time I cleared my cache the whole lot after three days same exact error code still popping up.

10 Odpowiedzii've read several topics on this now... i still don't get what this is for? i've never had the game ask me to give my phone number out? to verify? verify what? That the logged in ID you're on is you? Doesn't the console do tthat when you turn it on? or your PC?
