What's everyone's opinions on the nether

Personally I'm not sure. I've only played it twice. The first time I had a horrible time. I had more fun in lasts season onslaught. The second time I abandoned my build and went full add clear and it was abit better but honestly this new system of -blam!- all heals is not fun

  • Played it solo and not fun at all. Takes too long. Bullet sponges again and Neomuna enemies don't belong there. The Dreadnaught was better in D1.

    As a largely Solo player I have done two exploring runs on my own (zero grouped runs as yet), with each instance running close to two hours as I was spending a [b]large[/b] chunk of time searching for secrets. I imagine future runs will clock in well under the one hour mark once I feel I’ve exhausted the Activity of hidden objects. Both times I got fairly lucky getting Boons that help with healing and experienced only five deaths across the two runs (without using any of the full heal options people have since discovered), so I find the difficulty fairly reasonable for my skill level. I’ve seen the devs say that many healing values in the Activity are lower than intended and that they hope to get a fix in within the next week or so, which will hopefully make the Nether feel less sloggy and frustrating for at least some of those who have been vocal about their issues with it. Overall I’m quite positive about the Nether and I hope more players will start to view it similarly once the adjustments to healing are made and everyone has had a chance to build up their meta-progression (by obtaining Ghost Mods, double Boons on pickup and Boon options at Activity start).   • Great concept. A potentially fun and rewarding activity. No health regen is too punishing, unfun, and will sour my experience the longer it remains in its current state.

  • I only just realized it's a thing with a finite task that can be completed. Legit thought it was just like exploring an area that you come and go when you are fed up. I think it's too tedious and confusing. Not a fan

  • For a activity they said would have tons of variety, it has none, 4 rooms (3 per run) and do 3 objectives in each room. No real variety, its just another seasonal activity. Visually I like the Drake tentacle theme in the ship. Game play wise its gonna be another repetitive activity, and while I like the challenge with the limited healing, that's when me and my friend were playing and I could trust him to start and finish puzzles with me. I did some with randoms in the play list and every time they would walk away mid puzzle, let me get surrounded and killed because they saw something shinny over in the corner. So i feel like the healing effect for everything should be like 1/10th its normal power (like devour on a warlock would take 30 kills to get from dead to max health), not just entirely none existent for a few exceptions like crimson and stuff like that. That and the loot it meh, I like how it looks but perk wise unless elemental honing is good I could care less to get any of them.

  • I just want to be able to heal from a rift, from my gun, or other abilities. I like the weapons however I think we could all use more inventory space. But honestly the title screen looks as cheap as this event feels. I don't see the effort being made by Bungie to improve this title. I've seen great games in the past (Defiance) poorly managed and utterly run into the ground because there is no passion, money, and creativity put back into after dismantling the original teams that made it phenomena to begin with. Money and greed are video game poison.

  • Boons need work separate the lives simple way everyone gets 5 tokens you response you use your own token if your revived the person reviving you gives up a token that way if you waste your lives the rest of the team isn't screwed over and it counters the people sabotaging cause they will just waste there lives and any tokens picked up from chest every one get 1 extra token

    • This old tortoise did a few meanders in the solo / explore mode…and attained the rank 3 ‘must have’ item. A few things stuck out… 1. Map awareness from way back came in useful…remembering those hidey holes and crawl-throughs did help. Not perfect recall, just echoes. 2. Chests - so many to find…no problemo! However, once a chest has been opened, it would be a QoL update to have an indication that it had already been opened, eg, a colour indicator or maybe a strike-through line or a big ‘X’… This old tortoise is a curious creature, though a bit forgetful…so, constantly checking empty chests became a bit of a thing! 🤔 3. Health issues - needs a solid tweak, imho. Fighting the meatball whilst on the run trying to find pots to shoot for a chance at a minor health buff whilst every enemy is zeroed-in on me is not fun… 🧐 Same goes for that Tormentor in the blight scrap…really not fun at all. 😥 4. Heavy / Special Ammo paucity issues…especially when added to #3 above. 🥵 5. General Confusion issues re all the new ‘in game’ currencies and stuff; and ‘do this’ to ‘get that’ kind of stuff; though that might be more of an old tortoise issue 🤫…and it just being a new season, and all that! 6. Campaign Auto-Launch mission - not good, would prefer option to engage when ready, and NOT to be hurled straight in! 😠 I was on my usual vanilla Titan ICBM build…with low-powered weapons in the process of getting levelled-up…but they worked out okay! They’re still on my T if anyone’s interested… I couldn’t imagine how a NL or a returning old Guardian from way back, would cope?! Nor could they possibly enjoy the Explore mode…never mind the MM mode? 🧐 Caveat: I haven’t tried the MM mode myself…being an old tortoise and all that! Maybe I might try it out later, but currently - I’ll leave it be. 🫤 Anyhoo, it’s early days…and seeing the feedback threads on the forum, things are likely to change - hopefully, for the better!? 👈 That is all.     • I think it’s terrible as a solo player but fun with a single friend in your team,the whole healing and overshield thing is terrible but I managed a big workaround by making a build using the strand resistance. I can’t imagine how easy it must be in a three stack. Solo:3/10 Duo:8/10 Trio:?/10

    • I didn’t like it. Felt like an awful slog. Coil and (Original) Onslaught are good examples of Hour long activities done well. I genuinely enjoyed those and did many many runs. This one feels like a hard pass. Personally, they should’ve taken the Season of the Haunted approach. How Leviathan came back as a (small) Patrol zone where you can explore on your own and find all the secrets as well as partake in the seasonal activity. Would’ve been much better if it was similar to Nightmare Containment. This sucks. I will give them props for trying something different but nah, this is just another silver platter for those hardcore elites. Imagine you’re a first time Destiny player and this is your introduction to the game. How is a new player supposed to get thru the basic seasonal storyline with this level of difficulty? How do they expect new players to navigate an Hour Long slog by themselves? I was able to complete this sure but that final boss? I legit can’t picture a new player beating that without a proper build and 5/5 guns. Genuinely what was Bungie thinking

    • Honestly? I don't really like it, though maybe I'd like it more if the activity hadn't launched bugged (most healing not working as intended). Not sure what they intended for the solo mode, but it definitely made me not want to even try the matchmade mode.

    • First time was a bit tough as I didn’t knew that I can’t use abilities to recover and played quite aggressively. There are plenty of healing orbs that you can use so it’s not that bad as long as you don’t play too aggressively. Used arc Titan with the new aspect and COFS exotic chest for most of the runs. Bosses don’t stand a chance. Find that running solo can be long and tough run, but with fireteam is ok as long as no one is wasting the revive tokens. Haven’t played the hard mode yet so my opinion may change later 😀 Overall I like the activity, unfortunately as always it will start being boring due to repetitiveness.

      Honestly? The Nether is.... okay? First time out, solo (which is the worst way to experience it initially, but where the quest indicates you have to go) was terrible. The environment, enemies and conditions are way too intense to form part of the first act questline. Once I figured out that you can just ignore that and jump onto the matchmade version it was much more palatable. The 'no recovery' thing can be mitigated, but it usually involves a BIG rethink of how your build is made up. Once you do though, it's a much better experience. The loot drops are actually right where they should be - very generous for D2. That being said, having an environment that's meant to encourage exploration and combining it with a mechanic that forces you to stay out of trouble is just dumb. No two ways about it, especially as it was billed as 'no self health recovery' rather than 'no self healing at all', which it actually is. It also doesn't help that the systems for this episode are as confusing and messy as always. Having a 'tutorial' quest step to teach you how to use the Tome of Want that doesn't even explain how the Tome of Want works, is the Bungiest thing ever. Having another component to that system on the other side of the room with no indicator that you just happen to stumble across is the next Bungiest.

      Solo seems like a miserable slog. Matchmade is moderately fun, but doesn’t feel too different than what we’ve had in the past except for the no passive health regen. Which is just annoying. I really don’t like it. It just feels like a cheap way to impose challenge. Personally I don’t think that you should ever hinder or take from what players are normally capable of in order to do it. Challenge should come from enemy behavior and abilities and from mechanics. That being said, if be courage them to experiment with fundamental changes in things like thus. Just dedicate something to it where massive changes like this can be swapped out whenever they want to try something new. A “PvE labs” activity if you will.

    • Absolute fail! It sucks im no hater either I love the game but bungie just doesn’t have the sauce anymore. Everything is so lack luster. I hate the healing aspect in new activities hate it, takes forever to do a completion

    • After 10 years of healing & knowing Destiny timing and making builds.... its not fun...as a seasonal matchmade activity IF they wanna have an Optional harder difficulty for those folks with the no healing and revives fine, add that BUT the matchmade or solo experience should not be no healing current version. IMO

      • It's...alright. It isn't the most revolutionary idea ever, but as far as seasonal stuff goes I find it to be pretty engaging. It hands out tons of loot and it can be ran pretty quickly. The match made version is fun to me, but YMMV. All in all, I give it a 6.5/10. Maybe even a 7.

        • It’s not my thing, neither was the coil, and that’s ok. But it needs some tweaking. Especially when tying it to the story for everyone to play through.

        • First time kinda hated it, next 4-5 times it was ok just bad design making you hunt chests & pots etc, tormentors and subjagators are just tedious, & no background music is a very very weird choice, adds to the boredom/tedium. In a few weeks the activity will be totally dead tho, not much replayability & much like neonuma ain't no one logging in & deciding to fight bullet sponges for fun. They gotta try these things but this was obviously not gonna appeal to 95% & they're constantly making crazy decisions & then doubling down. Sure road to poverty
