Can't change Bungie name at all
For some reason the identity settings option to change my Bungie will not work. I haven't changed my name in the past at all and there is no profanity, unicodes, emojis, or any forbidden things within the username I'm trying to add. Every time I try to change it, it just ends up saying "you can only change your name once" and "settings have been changed" but it won't save. Can I have some help? I don't want to spend the rest of my Destiny 2 career with a default name.

Tried again tonight and still can’t change my name. It’s been nearly 3 months when my name was cruelly taken away without a reason or an apology. Having played for nearly 10 years and spending so much money on the game, sadly it’s time for me to part ways.

Same here. This is so annoying. Apparently the issue has been going on for months and bungie said they “fixed” it when in reality they just pushed it aside.

This hit me too. Was hoping it would be fixed by now cause it wiped my name I've used on everything for years.

I opened the browser console and this is the error. I guess there's some issue with their name filtering or for some reason their servers are marking any name as invalid. This bugs so stupid, recommended the game to a friend and of course this had to be happening. feel bad because he don't want to make a account till its fixed because he doesn't trust the name token system so he has just been waiting for a week for a game he got recommended to make the names work. he looked into and found out it happened on august as well and that they said they had and i quote. "We have identified the issue that was forcing a high number of Bungie name changes. We have applied a server-side change to prevent the issue from impacting accounts moving forward" link if needed. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/264255896 long story short he has not got a great opinion of the game so far lol.

I've just returned since first purchasing the game on release and can't believe we are forced to change our names. It won't even allow me to use the suggested name it provides me with which was my Xbox Gamertag back in the day.
