Then spider people, bulldog sumo wrestlers, off-brand terminators, medieval demon wannabes, assorted mind controlled of the already mentioned, and spider people that had way too much to drink came and made things not good. Then the egg sent spiky things to resurrect dead people to make space cowboys, space librarians, and space cage fighters. They proceeded to beat up all of the above, but evil black Dorito ships came and started stealing real estate. Now it’s a matter of waiting for bungo to release new content. A strange machine god called the traveler came to our solar system and vastly improved humanity, however it had many enemies which followed it here. In a final stand it sacrificed itself and created tiny machines which resurrected random dead people and made them Immortal as well as gave them space magic. These humans called guardians defend humanity and the traveler.

It would take a while for me to explain the entire story of Destiny down to the very last detail, so I'll give you a brief rundown. The Traveler arrived in our Solar System, and terraformed various worlds, allowing humanity to branch out and colonize the Solar System. This period of time was known as the Golden Age. However, this Golden Age did not last, as the Darkness would threaten humanity, and many colonies were lost, abandoned, or wiped out. The Last City was created as a safe haven for the remains of humanity to live securely, and, in its dying breath, the Traveler released the Ghosts, who were tasked with seeking out and resurrecting Guardians, who would become the protectors of the Last City. The Guardians of the Last City fought many great battles, not all of which were won. Earth's Moon, as well Saturn's Moon Titan, became infested with Hive, an alien race devoted to serving the Darkness and living by the Sword Logic, and many Guardians perished at the hands of Crota, the son of Oryx, the Taken King. After cutting down Crota's forces, the Guardians eventually emerged victorious when they confronted him in the Ascendant realm. Following Crota's death, his father, Oryx, sought to avenge his son's death. The Vanguard realized the threat that Oryx presented when the Taken War began, and a team of Guardians were sent to bring about his end. After facing off against Oryx's lieutenants, they eventually faced Oryx himself, and emerged victorious. The Fallen are an insectoid alien race primarily consisting of pirates and scavengers, and are divided into many different Houses. Taniks, the Scarred, a notorious Fallen assassin, was responsible for the death of Andal Brask, the former Hunter Vanguard. Skolas, the "Kell of Kells", was the central instigator of the Wolf Rebellion, during which the Fallen House of Wolves broke free from their chains and betrayed Mara Sov, the Queen of the Reef. During the SIVA Crisis, a new faction a Fallen emerged, known as the Devil Splicers. SIVA was a Golden Age nanotechnology that was sealed away by the Iron Lords (at the cost of their own lives) due to the danger it presented. The Fallen House of Devils eventually discovered and unearthed it, and became fused with it. A team of Guardians eventually tracked down Aksis, the leader of the Splicers, and took him out. Mercury, Venus, and Nessus were transformed into Machine Worlds by the Vex, a cybernetic, time traveling species aiming to weave their way into the very fabric of reality. The Guardians would deliver major blows to the Vex Network by slaying Atheon, Time's Conflux, within the Vault of Glass, and Panoptes, Infinite Mind, within the Infinite Forest. The Cabal, a warmongering race of aliens, frequently came into conflict with the Guardians. Much of their leadership in Sol was situated on Mars, eventually branching out to the European Dead Zone on Earth as well as Mercury, Nessus, and Io, where they also came into conflict with the Vex. Dominus Ghaul, the leader of the Red Legion, an elite faction of the Cabal, sought to control the Traveler, take the Light by force, and put an end to the Guardians for good.
