As an IT contractor for over 25 years, and although some will disagree, these are the general rules I have followed and they have served me well: 1. You fulfill you duties under each contract to the best of your abilities 2. You treat each client with the utmost respect during your contract 3. You recognise that you are not a permanent employee of the company, rather a guest invited in to do a specific job and then leave 4. You don’t expect any credit for your work, your deliverables should speak for themselves 5. You respect any non-disclosure agreements that form part of each contract That’s how you earn respect in the industry. That’s how you get repeat business. It’s that simple.

Here's my take on it, and this is just my own opinion. I've watched the video by Myelin. This is totally on Bungie. I'm empathetic with Myelin because this project was instigated by Bungie themselves. Bungie can do whatever they want with their product, they own it afterall. Bungie can do the work themselves. But they didn't. The lore was Bungie's, everything was already there. Bungie wrote them and they own all that lore information. They could do whatever they want with it and claim all that title they want. And yet Bungie didn't do it themselves. They didn't do it. Instead, they asked an outsider for help and contracted him. For some reason they gave Myelin autonomy because they didn't do it themselves. And that's exactly what Myelin did. He did not write or added anything to it. He curated them, just as Bungie asked him to do so. For some reason, 1 week before production, an old guard staff got jealous and wanted the title for himself. This is bad form for Bungie. They could literally do this before they contracted Myelin, take all the glory they want even before Myelin could have started his work. But Bungie didn't. So when they saw Myelin's job is done, which he did pretty well, one of the old guard staff become envious and wanted the title for himself.😆😆😆 What a bad form for Bungie on this one. They could have done it without Myelin, but they didn't, instead contracted Myelin, then wants to take the credit out of Myelin and keep it to themselves.😂😂😂 To make it worse, they acted exactly what the HR department did to rockstar type abusers in their crew, defending the abuser!!!😂😂😂 Trying to reverse psyche Myelin with that no "I" in team bs just to protect their own rockstar abuser who got jealous and wanted to take credit that he didn't work for. Myelin was the true lore curator for this project. Bungie contracted Myelin for this project, asked him to curate the lore, and did exactly what Bungie asked him to do. Bungie should give him the credit, if he got it, he deserved it. If Bungie really wanted the credit, they could have done it themselves. But they DIDN'T! I'm glad Myelin opened up this incident. This is GOLD! A priceless EXPOSÉ! I call out Bungie on this one. This is them misbehaving. BIG TIME!!!😂😂😂 A ROTTEN CULTURE EXPOSED! They own the lore. They wrote it. They own it. They can do whatever they want with it. Claim credit to however they want to curate their OWN making. But when it's time to produce a book about it, they did not do it themselves. They contracted an outsider, who did a good job, just as they asked him. When it's time to give credits for it, they still wanted to take it away from him. And then defended the guy who took away that credit when he didn't even do anything about it before Myelin was in the picture. That's the rotten culture that you see being exposed. That is the Bungie that you as a community doesn't know about. It's a disease that's been eating them since the Halo days. The HR defends abusers, the CEO knows of it and did norhing, and now this, an old guard taking away credit he didn't do and defended by the team lead of the Anthology. This is a rotten culture you haven't seen of Bungie that has permeated into their core all the way back into the Halo days. This is on Bungie. They misbehaved! It's on them, not Myelin. I'm glad it's been brought out to light by IGN, the employees, and now a contractor Myelin Games. This is GOLD! I will not forget this scandal. It's PRICELESS!!! 😂😂😂

I wish I could say I’m surprised but I’m not. If that’s how they treat people they bring into a project then imagine actually working for them. The “no I in team” is such a corporate cop out. Used by management to avoid confronting actual issues. It’s common sense that proper crediting is important. When you are going for a job you don’t tell them what your last team did, you tell them what you did for the team. Even within a company when going for a promotion you don’t highlight that the team is going good, you highlight what you specifically are bringing to the team. When I see people not thinking that proper credit is something to be concerned about, all I can imagine is how complacent they must be in their own lives

Maybe as a contractor he should’ve been more flexible with the client he was working for and not arrogant and he would’ve been fine

For everyone not knowing what the difference between curating and consulting is: Curating: (of online content, merchandise, information, etc.) selected, organized, and presented using professional or expert knowledge. Consulting: engaged in the business of giving expert advice to people working in a professional or technical field. He wasn't consulting, he ordered and organized the grimmoire cards to be made into a book and it took him 3 months to review all the grimmoire cards (probably again) to then make a [b]curated[/b] list of the grimmoire cards. If he was consulting he would review a curated piece of work and then suggest things. He did not do such things. the "old guard" person did that and then gave himself the title curator instead of consultant. I do not see why people have such a hard time understand these words and what Mylin was doing for the books?

Why would anyone quit playing a game over something like this.. people are literally tortured and enslaved and they make 60 percent of all household products, your cellphone is made using child slave labor in Congolese mines, millions of people are imprisonned in Chinas dictatorship making shoes, clothes furniture and all sorts of goods. You think some snivelers writing credit means more than people actually dying every day for your creature comforts. We're looking at the gaming industry wailing about how toxic it is when we are all, and I mean it literally all of us are profiting from human slavery around the world. We turn a blind eye and want to rant about our morality and how awful Bungie is...

Myelin made some stupid decisions with the anthology. Starting the Destiny anthology with the books of sorrow, and going straight into Dredgen Yor was a mistake. I would’ve asked him to change that too. Those are some of the meatiest, high concept aspects of the lore. They are utterly wasted as an introduction to people without context. It was an amateur move. It’s really inappropriate for him to jump on this bandwagon, alongside people who are actually being abused, and try to complain about the time his inflexibility got him removed from a project, trying to pretend it’s the same thing. Dude was a contractor, working on his first ever writing assignment, and was unwilling to respond to the feedback of the people contracting him. In any other studio, he would’ve been ripped out of the project and not credited at all. Myelin was not a victim of abuse, he was a victim of his own arrogance.

Bungie has always been like this. I mean, every time something comes out about the game (due to hiding it poorly or it just being obvious) Bungie gaslights the community, making everybody think they're crazy and ignorant until the truth actually comes out. Specifically I think of "There's no 3rd subclass coming up...*insert some terrible excuse that nobody believed*) or how Warlocks are so heavily favored but Bungie claims to strive for balance. It's nothing new, people.
