Screw that, we need bigger maps.
There is ZERO reason why someone should be able to kill you at A, turn around, and snipe you out of your spawn animation ALL THE WAY AT C.
There should be no map where a hunter can slide-shotgun you at your spawn, go kill someone at their spawn, then whirl around and kill someone else back at YOUR spawn again, all in the time it takes you to respawn and get to mid.
Bigger maps are a MUST. Shit like Exodus Blue happens when you allow small maps.

Sure, but which is more likely that Bungie will actually do? Build entirely new, larger maps, or simply reduce the number of players in matches? My money’s on the latter.

Then you haven't been paying attention. Changing the size of maps is so easy, they were able to shrink maps by 10% with Beyond Light as a STEALTH patch. And didn't announce it until after the fact. Changing map size clearly isn't difficult, while changing PvP to accomodate for two new types of team modes (5v5 and 4v4) or reverting to one (4v4) would require them to rework the mercy mechanic and max scores (to account for fewer players) along with reducing map size on some maps (widows court, fortress, etc) and making sure that ALL modes that supported the new team sizes worked properly with those sizes (again referring to the score/mercy reworks to accomadate for fewer players). It wouldn't be a TON of work. I'm not saying it would be. But it would be a hell of a lot more work than simply increasing all map sizes. Make several changes and rework multiple systems....or increase map sizes and be done with it. Bungie is lazy. They'll take the lazier option.
