Every game should have something iconic about it and Gjallarhorn was the most iconic weapon in D1.
Anyway rockets are in a TERRIBLE place right now and if they were to bring it back it would be a shell of its former self like it was in ROI.

Actually, there is one rocket that can perform well currently. And it does more damage than the meta Izanagi by miles... Deathbringer. The only 'issue' it has is the tracking on the orbs. Sometimes it can track to other targets rather than the one you want if any are around. Sure it's not good for say Riven, but as far as rockets go... it's the only good rocket currently for PvE. No one uses it though.
