The San Francisco 49ers have suspended Tim Ryan, their radio color-analyst, over comments he made on a Bay Area sports talk radio show Monday in which he said Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who is black, is exceptional at faking handoffs because of his “dark skin color with a dark football.”
“He’s really good at that fake, Lamar Jackson, but when you consider his dark skin color with a dark football with a dark uniform, you could not see that thing,” Ryan said on air. “I mean you literally could not see when he was in and out of the mesh point and if you’re a half step slow on him in terms of your vision forget about it, he’s out of the gate.”
Even if it's not true, does believing skin color somehow gives the player an advantage mean that the analyst doesn't like black people?

Saw that the other day. First time I’ve ever heard an explanation like that before. That comment is probably going to follow him around for the rest of his life.

38 OdpowiedziNot really racist, I've not seen them play tho so I don't know if there's validity to the claim, if it is tricky to see what is happening because the ball and the player blend together then I'd say that's a valid point. Does the commentator have a history of saying racist or otherwise offensive things?
