Hi, there. As I'm sure many of you have already realized and some of you might soon realize, Armor 2.0 isn't all it's cracked up to be. Either through massive blunder and mis-execution, ignorance of players' outcry for a nerf to the cost of a Masterwork, or as an act to deliberately infuriate players, Bungie has once again taken a very simple problem with a very simple solution and somehow made it much, much worse. Without really talking about what else makes Armor 2.0 a disaster (like arbitrarily attaching elements to mods for no real reason than to artificially inflate gameplay time or changing the amount of dice you have to roll to get a piece of armor you want from two (perk slots) to six (attribute rolls), I want to go over the most glaring issue. The one the community has been begging to be fixed since before I started playing again in Forsaken after my post-Vanilla hiatus.
In it's old state, Masterworking a single armor piece costed a significant amount of enhancement cores, a relatively rare resource. Enough, in fact, that I never bothered to Masterwork a single armor piece because I could not justify the time spent versus the reward. After listening attentively to it's community, Bungie changed that system by adding two new resources with which to upgrade armor, one of which costs some of the other and the other of which costs enhancement cores. The problem arises in how the cost of the two interact.
The resource you need to finalize a masterwork costs ten of the resource before it. And that doesn't sound too terribly bad at first, until you realize what it costs to buy the first resource. Each one costs 10 enhancement cores, 25 Planetary Materials, and 10,000 (yes, that's ten thousand) Glimmer. If you need ten of these to get the last piece you need, you'll end up paying 250 Planetary Mats, 100 Enhancement Cores, and 100,000 (one hundred thousand) Glimmer. And that might not sound too bad. But you need two of those final resources, meaning that instead of 10 of the one before, you'll need twenty. This will cost you 500 Planetary Materials, 200 Enhancement Cores and 200,000 Glimmer.
This is what the last two of ten steps in Masterworking a single piece of armor is. If you wanted to masterwork a whole set (helm, arms, chest, legs, class), it would cost you 2,500 Planetary Materials, 1,000 Enhancement Cores and 1,000,000 Glimmer. And that's just for those last two resources you need. That doesn't count the fact that you have to use the resources you need ten apiece of on your armor just to get to the step where you have to spend ten of them for the other resource. Oh, and there's an inventory cap on both of these resources, both I believe are below 30. So don't get your hopes up on stockpiling.
Just to sort of let you guys know what you're in for if you haven't started yet.
Edit: I know you shouldn't expect to Masterwork an armor set in the first week. I know the mats drop from other activities. This post is about the fact that the community begged Bungie to tone down Masterworking cost and they responded by increasing it exponentially and complicating it.

basicaly it happend, what ive said in the forum some weeks ago, where everybody called me an idiot, and that i would be stupid, and lolèd at me ... ive told u : instead of removing cores and shit for masterwork and enchanting, they put more mats into it the new mats needs to be paid for a draining ammount of mats , just to make us farm each day over and over again the same shit. ppl.. many of u paid 60 bucks for this ... and get again a hard slap in our faces. armor 2.0 was not , and realy not in anyway needed. they just had to make mods be removeable. but there intention with 2.0 was : again.. to drain our maerials.. the same shit we see at spider ^^ before we got 5000 glimmer for 10 materials.. now we got 10000 glimmer for 20 materials ...erm where is the point of this , and why its called a new" feature" ...?? nothing changed in generell in case about gameplay ...mobs still do a horrible ammount of damage, espacaly these AOE explosion dmg or granade dmg from knights, maybe it be the arcus ones, or the fire ones .... the stomp still kicks us arround the whole map...basicaly its a waist of time for any kind of melee stuff ( super or finisher ) ..... the finisher... looks nice, but what sense they have ? to get u 10 more glimemr with a mod ? finishers are the worst sh1t they brought to the game. because they are totla yuseless, and pointless.. difficulty levels are not based on game mechanics after all, but based on the fact : more mobs more dmg= harder game ...one of the oldes, idiotic, and time waisting thought a came company could have .. if u play on a harder difficult than basicaly it happens this : some ppl actually realy try to work through, some just say.. ah never mind we just die through it and thats it. actually we still get green shitty useless drops and blue ones while being on the moon ... we got a free set, but what the heck ..?!? are we on moon or at EDZ , somewhere in the woods ? the set we got does not fit , in any way to the setting of the moon. the design decisions they made are worse than everything ive seen so far ... yet again tons of ships, sparrows ghosts, with the same look a like than the past 2 years, just with another color... design of armor set, helmets, weapons .. is nothing more than a redesign and recolor. putting a scope on the same autorifle we have since 2 years and call it new is ( sorry ) a scam... bungie is , was not, and never will be listen to the community for anything at all .. the past 6 months 90% of those ppl who play the game was pissed about something, but yet they take it, keep there mouth shut, and accept the daily slap into there faces , instead of actually do something.

1 OdpowiedźI think the issue is that it's a big old grind for a lot of boring ass mundane shit. I don't mind grinding in a MMO, but it should give a sense of satisfaction. All this grinding and rolling armor pieces and equipping mods just to have a set of armor which gives you a 0.5 reload increase and the ability to find some additional ammo for your favourtie weapon. Is mundane. And so far is the main reason I haven't purchased Shadowkeep[.

I can never tell the difference between masterworked armour and regular armour, I’m also playing borderlands 3, in that game you can feel every upgrade and it makes you feel great, you’re actually achieving something and you can feel the benefits.
-
And this is basically why I spent a good portion of the summer farming mats, shards and cores for SK. I knew this infusion grind was gonna be worse than forsaken. Glad I didnt waste a ton of resources on the tribute hall. Thing is, even though I stockpiled all those resources, it still wont be enough. Back to being a mismatched space hobo I guess. I'm not using anybody those materials until it's worth it. Which what? A month or two now? Bungie I dont mind a grind but come on.

I think about this in comparison to Warframe's primed mods, upgrading those is a serious eater of modding fuel, but they are also not so required to be built well. I feel like 2.0 maxing is just under that in terms of how much work it would take, but for Destiny it's the equivalent of such pretty much. However, if I understand correctly, maxxing armor is what opens you to full ability to have perks ready like Y2 armor did outright? If the only reason to hit 10 energy is for enhanced perks that would be different.

1 OdpowiedźI'm not sure how to feel about this, partly because I wonder if we don't truly know the time it will take yet because we all haven't played enough, but also because SOME grind is good. But I've played D2 since day 1 and have never Masterworked a weapon or armor. I don't have the time. I'm lucky if I play 15 hours a week with work. D2 is my go-to game, but after the first 6 weeks I had nothing to do. Came back for each DLC release and found that each time, I was being required to get thousands of specialized kills or use rare resources to make the most minor of upgrades. And then, it's changed so many times that I got lost. Challenges, triumphs, bounties and missions, all in different places with varying rewards.... It, personally, has become hard to know where to spend my time in D2 because I don't know what will give me a reward worth spending the time to acquire. The menagerie was a good change..... I still have only attempted one Raid because it's impossible to find Fireteam players that will communicate, though I'll probably give it another try this season. I guess, for me, this game has made it very difficult to determine "time vs reward" and it seems to continue to to move towards more time giving less and less rewards.... When you start with one progression path and over time give less an less reward for more and more time... it makes players frustrated. This is spelled out very clear in a paper written by John Hopson, Bungie's Head of Analytics. https://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/131494/behavioral_game_design.php?page=2 "Secondly, there is the question of what happens when you stop providing a reward, which is referred to as "extinction." Say the player is happily slaying the dragon every time it appears, but after a certain number of kills it no longer appears. What will the player do? The answer is that behavior after the end of a contingency is shaped by what the contingency was. In a ratio schedule, the player will continue to work at a high rate for a long period of time before gradually trailing off. In a fixed interval schedule, their activity will continue to peak at about the time they expect to be rewarded for a few intervals before ceasing. As a general rule, extinction involves a lot of frustration and anger on the part of the subject. We expect the universe to make sense, to be consistent, and when the contingencies change we get testy." Anyway.....you'd think Bungie knows this but they keep moving the carrot and making it harder to get rewards with the time we spend in the game. TLDR: Bungie doesn't make it easy to determine 'time vs reward', continue to make it harder to earn rewards, and considering they understand game psychology well, they should be better at it.

1 OdpowiedźKeremyJing You make some valid points and i agree that eververse must be removed from this game but, Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

It’s almost like being lazy and just buying everything from banshee will be more expensive and time consuming than just playing the damn game activities such as nightfalls for the same shit
-
I get your frustrations but I think you’re looking at this from a very pessimistic stance. I’ll be honest, I stopped understanding half the stuff you said about halfway through it. Yes I get you did the math and the issue you have now is accepting the realization of all these resources you’ll need but it just seems you’re looking for ways to be upset rather than just playing the game. I have amassed all the resources you mentioned, you have, everyone has, from simply playing the game. Maybe that’s what it’s intended to be. Bungie doesn’t want its players mindlessly grinding for a stupid item rather than being a social enhancement of its community and game world. Just play, shoot things, and have fun. Why must some of you guys seek ways to be mad all of the time? Nobody cares about materworked armor anyhow lol and correct me if I’m wrong man but you said it yourself that you don’t either. So my point seems clear here.

64 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika Spawn: 10/2/2019 6:19:15 PM*if you buy everything from Banshee. This is the same thing as the Tribute Hall this summer. Dump all your resources at very expensive costs to upgrade quick, or just play normally and you’ll acquire the materials over time (for T. Hall is was completing bounties to lower cost). I wouldn’t be surprised to see ascendant prisms and shards drop from pinnacle and end game activities quests etc, I’ve already received a couple. I’m just gonna hold onto everything until getting to that point.

5 OdpowiedziI'm pretty sure I'm simply going to use my old god roll armours, in fact I thought that before the DLC had even dropped, now having played, I see nothing to change my mind, quite the opposite in fact....

Edytowany przez użytkownika x 4theRage: 10/3/2019 9:35:15 AMYou get prisims and ascendant shards from nightfalls dumbass lol

Noticed and just infused up last season armor. Not worth that grind
-
5 Odpowiedzi...or maybe there is a macrotransaction in store just for that, planned for a not so distant future. "Wanna fully masterwork this set? Go for grind the game for 8 months or pay this here price of 10 bucks and .... Voila!!!" YIKES.
-
3 OdpowiedziBungie won't address this for at least 2 months, if not, ever. The only way they'll address this is once they see that players are leaving.
-
4 OdpowiedziI expected nothing less from this new bungie.
-
1 OdpowiedźDude, you can buy them And they’re not even expensive
-
This update made me uninstall the game. -blam!- it, I'm out. I'll come back when Bungie starts listening, which I don't expect to ever happen. I'll check back in next season, but this season is pretty much a lost cause.
-
2 OdpowiedziIf you skip the game-play loop and just try to buy your way through the upgrade materials via Banshee, then yes it is expensive.
-
1 OdpowiedźBungie has made it very clear You are to have the worst experience possible while playing a game You don't have to use the crap you pick up You just have to grind your azz off to enjoy the weapons and armor you like Bungie tells you to experience every high light level piece of garbage and put the stuff you like in the vault to infuse at end game I'm having so much fun waiting to get into the next server Masterwork? Masturbate!
-
2 OdpowiedziPlease check out this post! I thing the first change is highly needed asap! They promised us customization NOT buy ornaments for Customization https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/253746309?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=1

2 OdpowiedziI don’t even understand armor 2.0 I’ll probably stick with my old gear and infuse once I’m above 900...
-
2 OdpowiedziDon't the etheric (?) items drop from pinnacle activities? So the core route is more of a slow-pass for casuals?
-
16 OdpowiedziIt's literally been out for two days and you are already trying to masterwork stuff? You realize that it is not going to take two days to perfect your armor? The end game content isn't even here yet. So you wasting resources is not a Bungie problem, sounds like a personal issue to me.
-
3 OdpowiedziYou can either BUY your way into Masterworking everything OR watch this It’s gonna surprise you PLAY the activities that REWARD such materials to MASTER WORK WITH Omg it’s like if Bungie gave us other ways to earn those PRICEY MATERIALS omg omg wow! Wow! Wow! Good fight! Seriously though, it’s only day 2. Chill
-
Did you ever think that maybe you're supposed to go earn the end game currencies required to masterwork your gear, not buy them? Like come on people.
