Competitive suspensions should be removed until Bungie fixes the matchmaking and connection issues.
It's ridiculous that you can be matched with people who aren't even level 30 and barely know how to throw grenades, againts full 4-stacks all running the sweatiest loadouts and pinnicle weapons. That games a loss no matter what. Why should I be forced to sit through that or have my K/D ruined and potentially lose progress on quest steps for dying?
Same with the matchmaking that lets people join games with terrible connections. I've thrown my Suppressor Grenade on an Arc Strider that's stationary and activating his super and have him in the radius but his connection doesn't register it until they've killed my team mate and lunged miles away from it and killed me.
I got a suspension last night because I got error coded 4 times in a row. Bungie, these suspentions are threats that force players to stay in games they can't win, for multiple reasons, and then punishing them for leaving, all due to things on YOUR END.
I know that games are ruind by early leavers. The thing is, I can't even report people for leaving early anyway as they get removed from the scoreboard and on PC there's no "recent players" lists. At least if a game was one sided people wouldn't be forced to slog through it. If me and the other 3 randoms decide that actually we don't want to face that 4 stack, full sweat, all from the same clan, all rocking the same emblem team that Bungie matched us with as it's not a fair game then we could leave. Then we could hopefuly find a better game since Bungie didn't.
I know comebacks happen, I've had a few myself, but they are rare and not against fully cooperating 4 stacked teams when you've got potato teammates.

You can petition Bungie to change them (like you're doing now), but until that happens follow the rules. There is a difference between play a game recreationally and playing it competitively. 2. If Bungie suspended you, the connection problem was on your end. Not necessarily your fault....but on your end. My ISP is a local cable company that is doing a lot of infrastructure upgrades that the previous service (they bought out) ignored for years. So on weekends lots of work gets done. server connections get rerouted...and ping times can go up dramatically and seemingly at random. It doesn't affect normal internet and streaming service....but the effect can be devastating on online gaming Destiny is exquisitely sensitive to this because of its reliance on P2P networking. So whenever the game starts acting up...I stop playing...and I test my internet connections. PS4 and Xbox 1 have onboard capability to do this (with respect to connection speed). I have a seperate app on my smart phone that allows me to test ping time. You should be able to find freeware on PC that will let you do this, if you don't have it already. The Suspension is telling you there is a problem on your end...and its your responsibility to find it. The Help section on this website can also assist in this.

Comp suspensions are one of the few things I think comp did okay with. Could (should IMO) be much stricter. Repeat quitters deserve suspensions.

Anyone who quits should have more severe penalties. Disconnections are a tough one to measure and I feel sorry for the players who genuinely get disconnected and get banned for it.
