I've tried to explain the issue of build variety from a PVE perspective, and some of you clearly either don't understand it....or don't accept it. Content to run builds of only the pinnacle (meta) weapons. So now I'm trying to make the point from a PvP perspective.
One of the biggest reasons PvP players complain about playing the meta in the Crucible is because:
[i]Rigid meta reduce build variety and play style variety. Forcing everyone to play the same weapons and the same style, or pay a competitive penalty. [/i]
They occur because the combination of the sandbox, map designs and game modes give one particular loadout and one particular play style a major advantage over everything else.
Well the core economy does the same thing by limiting the ability to infuse gear. [b] [i]BY DENYING PEOPLE ACCESS TO THE CORES NECESSARY TO INFUSE IN A MANNER PROPORTIONATE TO TIME INVESTMENT, BUNGIE IS BASICALLY FUNNELING EVERYONE INTO PLAYING THE SAME PINNACLE WEAPONS, AND PLAY STYLES ENFORCED BY THOSE WEAPONS.

Can a PvP player just "shut up and play the meta"? Sure. If he or she is willing to accept a narrow and limited play experience.
Can a PVE player just "shut up and play the pinnacle weapon builds"? Sure.....but once again.....
...if he or she is willing to accept a narrow and limited play experience. Because Bungie has sabotaged their own game to the point that they are murdering what little inherent depth the game has.

5 OdpowiedziI gotta say, even being 650 on all characters and having close to 200 cores on me, I'm reluctant to infuse up multiple armor sets like I used to do pre-Forsaken, merely because, typically, by the time I do reach max light and attain enough max light items to begin contemplating specific armor sets to have for specific activities, the next DLC is soon to be out, so it's not worth wasting the cores on stuff that won't be max level or able to be enjoyed for very long. Pre-Forsaken, like most people, I'd infuse items as soon as I got them, maintaining the items I liked to use at whatever my current light level was. I had multiple armor sets per character - one for strikes, a couple for raids, 3+ for pvp...it was really nice to be able to use the items I wanted to use, whether it be based on perks and stats, or just looks. Post-Forsaken...I have one set I use for each character. I swap a helmet out every now and then, or an exotic, based on the class spec I'm using, but that's about it. The core economy has kept me from comfortably infusing up and using what i want to use. When the next DLC drops and the light level increases, like most people I'll be wearing whatever items drop at higher light, looking like a walking junk yard in the process. Something needs to change with this Bungie, and not just with cores, but mods as well.

1 OdpowiedźI mean, on the one hand I dont have much issue acquiring Cores... ...on the other I used to have multiple armour sets I'd use for each character. Now I dont. Maybe 2 - one for general use, one for Last Wish. Overall, I see the what and the why behind the changes to infusion costs, but I think its panned out to be more of a negative than a positive. Bungie'd just be better off walking this one back IMO.

6 OdpowiedziFor once I completely agree with you. It's not that is hasn't been explained to them, bungie just refuses to conceded the point. The delusional hubris of this company defies logic. No matter how many wonderful, intelligent arguments are made, they are in love with their own ideas. They have been like this since D1, with brief moments of actually listening. They are absurd. That is why I refuse to waste my time playing their game or supporting them with more investment.

10 OdpowiedziI get the cores suck and destiny lied to us when they introduced them. Yet I still don’t understand these posts lol. So please explain this. Why aren’t people saving cores as they level and use the gear they get as they level. Keep the stuff you want for max and save your cores until your close to max. Then only infuse what you want when your near max level?

I'm a very casual player and I have no issue with cores. I just infuse the same item into another but I understand how frustrating it can be. almost all economies are broken mess, loot pool is laughable and bungie remains silent and stuck in their ways. I'll continue to play, even more casually than I am now, but they won't get anymore money from me. D3 can suck my ass. hopes up for anthem and division 2.

9 OdpowiedziI agree. Three 650 characters. 9 armor sets. 2 masterworked armor sets. 10 weapons for each character. 15 fully masterworked weapons. 4 weapons upgraded to level 6 for kill tracker. If you run PVE a lot a like it you like to have different builds to run. I have 2 cores started forsaken with 80. Yes it’s possible to grind out 30 just went spider but I have to sacrifice doing something I’d rather do with my time. With current system it’s one week of core farming then one week of play and most likely back to farming again if you’re trying to level up or farm armor sets and weapons. I’m in top 4% of players with playtime. Core system is ass and to say it’s not is ridiculous. If they’re going to keep this system then Cores should fluently be provided throughout gameplay that way you can get on and do the activities you want and still be award a small of amount of cores for your time. For example that had a HUGE opportunity to leave in the dawning cookie baking as a way to farm cores. And all the ingredients you got from just playing in the world. It was a fluent system you can do what you wanted and then when it came time to needing core all you had to was take all the ingredients you can built up on the side from regular play make cookies and deliver them and boom you could farm 50-100 cores in minutes. That shows you they could make the core system better and my fluent with gameplay they just choose not to

8 OdpowiedziLike i said in another post i would be perfectly happy if they nerfed the cost by 1 core across the board, legendaries take one core to infuse and exotics take two. Perfectly reasonable if you ask me.

In addition to the more macro reasons outlined by OP, digging into the day-to-day impact of cores, I find their relationship with armor perks and mods problematic. Not only is it difficult to find a full set of armor that works well with a single weapon loadout, setting aside a matching set, but the likelihood of any set that comes close to that also having the same super element mods is astronomical. While I certainly believe anyone who might say, “Well I have one”, I couldn’t believe anyone who proposes that they have developed a system that ensures such an achievement. So in my case, I find myself waiting for rolls that will probably never come. That is setting aside the odds of receiving, say, a chest piece that has at least one perk pair in the last two slots that actually work for the same weapontype. Excluding bows and GLs, I can count on two fingers how many I’ve seen. Which brings me to another observation, that the current implementation of RNG armor rolls inherently dictates the corresponding optimal weapon loadout. So, in all cases, we’re forced to sacrifice others to achieve one. Now, if super mods were interchangeable, the probabilities fall exponentially, and maybe the rng works better.

16 OdpowiedziWhat is the intention of this thread? Devs said it's a no go on the cores removal. There are no plans to edit that. They are going to allow cores to be earned in more activities.

Hello players have been talking about this and I see this every other week with hundreds of up votes and nobody has decided to even reply let alone do anything, you should not put too much cost of master working in the first place that now it's not a problem

I agree but at the very least you can buy from spider and use items to make cores drop. If you’re playing pve so much your definitely getting enough shards to buy them
