I feel like Bungie, with Activision out of the way, now has the perfect window to bring back the patrol locations, strikes and raids from D1. Their initial vision of Destiny was a game and an experience that would build for 10 years. It would be a MASSIVE fan service, it would be a HUGE incentive to keep playing, and it would finally feel like the full package Destiny we all want.
For all I'm concerned, they could make it exclusive to people who own D1. Make the strikes an exclusive playlist called "classic" or whatever.
To those saying just play D1, it's about the development of your character, the completeness of your experience.
To those saying "WE WANT NEW CONTENT", me too! But it feels such a waste that during a 10 year experience of your character, you have to leave behind some of the most memorable content and locations.
If you agree please like this! If you disagree, I'd love to hear from you why!
Edit: Thank you all for your reactions! I never expected a post like this to go trending but it did! A lot of healthy pros and cons to this being discussed here, awesome!
I feel the general concensus is that most people do like the idea of a continuous, ever-expanding universe where you'd still have access to old locations, strikes, raids, crucible maps, etc. but at the same time, a lot of people express their (very reasonable) doubts about the technical (im)possibilities of this and the (un)willingness to pay for "old" content.
Others argue that using the old locations/strikes/raids for new content would be a good way to have a trip down memory lane that would still feel fresh. This way you'd still have the same planets and locations (the same expanding universe) but with new fresh content. An example of this would be that VoG would be used for a Shattered Throne -esque experience or (as I read somewhere) the Moon as a patrol area but with new adventures and Eris Morn as the vendor.
Let's keep the conversation going guys!

i like how this has been buried deep in the forums

I want to upgote again lol

28 OdpowiedziI’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. The Infinite Forrest was the biggest missed opportunity in D2. Vex are simulating everything to find their winning result. In theory that could be any of the locations and events of D1. Why didn’t Bungie have one of the tier 2 studios port D1 into the infinite Forrest and with the right tokens, you and a fire team can load up a “vision” to go and replay. This could have been the story, strikes, raids, sparrow racing, gear. Like seriously!!!! How cool COULD it have been...

I don't see the point in this.bringing back guns from D1 this is d2 bungie can't come up with new weapons.I for one am done this this game.
-
1 OdpowiedźMaybe add the raid gear to those who earned it in destiny 1. People who haven’t done the raids can go back to d1, get the gear and have it transferred.
-
This would be amazing! Good thoughts!
-
I honestly would love this I miss so many of the weapons I spent hours grinding for! So let’s do this Big Bungo!
-
it would probably take a miracle for bungo to reply to this in any way, even their patented canned responses

Edytowany przez użytkownika vmondude: 2/7/2019 10:58:45 AMI dunno man, I totally know where you’re coming from but I still feel like D2 mechanically sucks, it’s too clunky compared to D1. The world feels soulless compared to D1, the menu’s and UI are slow as hell, everything’s long winded and oversized for the sake of “content” which ruins the flow. Plus it generally feels really buggy in the little things, eg. things don’t delete and you have to do it again. To be honest I don’t think base consoles could handle it anyway, they struggle enough as it is. I’d rather they just built it again for D3 with a shiny new QUALITY engine and call it something like “Our Destiny” lol, now they’re in complete control. Make it an open world ever expanding universe like Destiny was originally designed to be, that’s how they win people back I think. There’s only so many bandaids you can put on a severed artery before you inevitably bleed out and die 😆

2 OdpowiedziI wanted destiny to be one game, like WoW and the like. But now I’m not so interested in bringing the two games together. Why? Well it’s simple, I’ve played D1 and D2 to death and I definitely wouldn’t want to pay AGAIN to play the same old content. You would also be asking them to stop production on any new content or game as I believe this would be a huge and expensive project, requiring an awful lot of time and resources. I think they actually need a new engine going forward, one that’s more agile.

D1 content with D2 supers & weapons? Maybe..
-
We go back to D1 now for the Raids.....BECAUSE THEY ARE GREAT. Yes.....merge.
-
-
Bump please merge
-
As goofy as it sounds...I thought, or at least hoped, that this would be a thing
-
They could cycle out an old planet, strikes or “reflection” missions (give Ikora a -blam!-in job) every month. -keeps people coming back -promises new content -monthly challenges -keeps an in-game “budget” for the developers to make this feasible -new content for old and new players who never experienced D1
-
1 OdpowiedźNo. Leave the past behind. Why would they spend money and resources on this?
-
1 OdpowiedźAlthough that would be good idea, they should start small with bringing year one content back to life with random rolls
-
I would love this soo much, would be the best game then.
