So it's no surprise that individuals in a relationship like to smell the others' clothing. Some might say that a strong relationship is built more on smell rather than looks. But why is that? What in the brain makes you absolutely infatuated when it comes to your SOs scent? Is there a connection between the olfactory bulbs and the amygdala? (If you've never been in a relationship this probably seems like a bizarre thing to imagine but it is actually very common.)
And with odd scents from your SO aswell. For example, my BF wears Axe Phoenix + vanilla perfume. I have never EVER liked the smell of ANY axe body spray, let alone mixed with a vanilla perfume. So why is it that when I smell his jacket or whatever it may be that it is the most wonderful smell in the world? Does the amygdala over power the olfactory bulbs or what?

I think it has something to do with pheromones. I’m not 100% sure though

1 Odpowiedźmemory association. Because that scent is connected to your SO, everytime you smell your SO's scent, your brain thinks him rather than the scent.
