While I was waiting for the patch to download...
I played a D1 mission. Big deal right?
Let me tell you how it went down.
I opened D1. The menu music gave me chills once again. I remembered the first time I heard it, D1 beta. I still can't get over that music. Logging into the character selection, I once again go with my tried and true Warlock, decked out in regal gear that I stole from a hive god! Those were the good old days.
Coming into orbit, I wonder what activity I should select. Ah! Heroic story missions! It's got void burn, and it will give me a treasure of ages! I launch the activity, and go to my menu to rectify my loadout. Palindrome, good solid primary. Praedyths Revenge, the best sniper ever (fight me)! And, DARK DRINKER!!! Everyone loves an exotic sword!
The mission starts, I notice subtle differences in the hud compared to D2. Not anything huge. But then I throw my axion bolt at some enemies, they're dead. But what's this? My grenade is charged again! A low ripple of laughter leaves my lips as I suddenly remember why everyone TRULY loves destiny. Not the grind, nor the raids, nor the god rolls, not even trials. But the pure and unbridled power of the SPACE MAGIC!!
I become the fearsome space vampire once again. I toss my grenade, I blink, melee. Group of enemies, Nova bomb, Obsidian Mind. My super is already halfway charged again. I weave through the battleground, a master of lethal movement.
When I'm finished with the mission, I decide to open my treasure of ages. What do I get? The robes of triumph!! Something I still hadn't managed to acquire. I throw it on, along with the boots and helmet, the only other pieces I have. Dang! I think to myself, this armor looks 5x better than D2! I suddenly feel the call of other D1 activities. "But I play D2 now!" I think, but I'm sad, cause I miss all the D1 activities already.
And D2... D2 is slowing down. Three weeks in, and I don't have anything left to do. And I didn't even "grind like crazy!" The hype train hit a brick wall. I don't want this game to fail, I want it to far surpass D1! But we need to face it, if Bungie doesn't do something soon, there's going to be a massive falling away.
Bungie, I want the game you promised four years ago. I'm still waiting.

I would play D1 , if I wasn't scared that it would slow down . . . the already incredibly slow download of the D2 patch.

19 OdpowiedziSo I have a question, and I made a post about this and the few that answered didn't really see what was talking about. When you loaded up D1 at the main screen where you pick your character or after you have picked 1 and hit start, doesn't your character model it self look much better. And I'm not talking about the armor. And I really can't put my finger on what it is. But it's like my D2 character looks like a cheap action figure toy, and D1 looks like a well made video game character. Is this just me?

Me too, I did the nightfall to try to get the elusive icebreaker. Loved every minute of it. Loved using the old hud too other than pressing down on the d-pad does not bring my sparrows/ships up lol

Yeah i loved the options and customization you could give each class with exotics. Personal fav in HoW was Mida, Hunter Dance Boots/PoE speed increase boots while running PoE. Insane speed.

1 OdpowiedźThe only "end game" activity is the prestige nightfall and the raid. Thats it... Iam not counting any form of PVP in it on porpuse btw since Trials and pvp is played by far less people then the pve activities. Milestones after reaching 305 are just things to do and same goes for the Nightfall. So what is left for players like that? Nothing at all. The raid makes you drown in tokens and the encounters are extremely frustrating with in many cases giving you no loot trough the whole raid! I dont want to get my loot from a damn sweeping robot in the tower! Most of the armor has not my desired mobility/recovery perks and is dismantled anyway... I dont want to take the casual fun for the more casual players away, but even if us, the 1% "hardcore" players are a small amount, we still are the ones that sticked with the game when the casuals dipped out... We were the ones that got all DLCs. We were the ones playing trough the content droughts. And the list could go on and on... While I understand that the "back and spine" of the Destiny community are the casuals, but we, the hardcore players are the heart and it feels like we are being left for dead with a stroke on the ground.

You bastard now I want to play Destiny 1 xD. I agree, the game feels super dry after you finish the weekly stuff, which can be done the day after the reset. And on top of that there's no incentive to grind for something the game gets very boring. (Sorry for my English).

You must not be playing the game if you ran out of things to do in D2. I mean it's pretty clear you still had stuff to do in D1 so i'm sure there's tons of stuff you haven't even seen let alone attempted in D2. Pretty sure your perspective and opinion on the content in D2 is WAY off. Pop in D2 again and you'll remember why it's a 10x better game than D1 ever was.
