While I was waiting for the patch to download...
I played a D1 mission. Big deal right?
Let me tell you how it went down.
I opened D1. The menu music gave me chills once again. I remembered the first time I heard it, D1 beta. I still can't get over that music. Logging into the character selection, I once again go with my tried and true Warlock, decked out in regal gear that I stole from a hive god! Those were the good old days.
Coming into orbit, I wonder what activity I should select. Ah! Heroic story missions! It's got void burn, and it will give me a treasure of ages! I launch the activity, and go to my menu to rectify my loadout. Palindrome, good solid primary. Praedyths Revenge, the best sniper ever (fight me)! And, DARK DRINKER!!! Everyone loves an exotic sword!
The mission starts, I notice subtle differences in the hud compared to D2. Not anything huge. But then I throw my axion bolt at some enemies, they're dead. But what's this? My grenade is charged again! A low ripple of laughter leaves my lips as I suddenly remember why everyone TRULY loves destiny. Not the grind, nor the raids, nor the god rolls, not even trials. But the pure and unbridled power of the SPACE MAGIC!!
I become the fearsome space vampire once again. I toss my grenade, I blink, melee. Group of enemies, Nova bomb, Obsidian Mind. My super is already halfway charged again. I weave through the battleground, a master of lethal movement.
When I'm finished with the mission, I decide to open my treasure of ages. What do I get? The robes of triumph!! Something I still hadn't managed to acquire. I throw it on, along with the boots and helmet, the only other pieces I have. Dang! I think to myself, this armor looks 5x better than D2! I suddenly feel the call of other D1 activities. "But I play D2 now!" I think, but I'm sad, cause I miss all the D1 activities already.
And D2... D2 is slowing down. Three weeks in, and I don't have anything left to do. And I didn't even "grind like crazy!" The hype train hit a brick wall. I don't want this game to fail, I want it to far surpass D1! But we need to face it, if Bungie doesn't do something soon, there's going to be a massive falling away.
Bungie, I want the game you promised four years ago. I'm still waiting.

I wonder if you'd be saying that same thing if it were Destiny 1 without any DLC because I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be.

31 Odpowiedziis it just me or the reason destiny one was so much more fun was cuz of how unbalanced it was. Before you could have crazy builds with your subclasses and now you can't. Its even more boring that you rarely use your super cuz of how slow it recharges. It's even worse that nobody uses their super until they get to the boss and not even make orbs.

I recently play d1 private matches with my friends, after leaving d1 alone for months. That's when I realized just how much more boring Destiny 2 is compared to year 3 destiny 1. It's like D2 was made before the d1 expansions. What I mean by that is that they ditched so many things that were added in the expansions, that the endgame grind isn't there anymore. I doubt I'll play D2 for very long.

I know. While d2 was down me and 2 other friends were messing around in private matches. There is nothing in d2 that equals that amount of fun with friends

I'm going to be honest, I gave the thread a thumbs down as I thought the guy was an idiot. But guess what? I keep going back to Destiny, because it's simply more [b]FUN[/b] that Destiny 2. Lets hope this faction rally turns things around and introduces some new activities, I really hope it's not an attempt to make us [b]REPLAY[/b] content that we're clearly bored of already. We will find out in about 20 minutes, fingers crossed.

I jumped on to Destiny 1 just to check the armsday orders I still had and was surprised by how full the tower was all 3 times I went to check my orders. Went into patrol just to mess around and had enemies moving against each other on the dreadnaught. There were 2 other guardians in there and I had a blast chaining supers together and wrecking cabal and hive with my raid weapons. I will probably be playing it a lot more now after I finish my weekly stuff on Destiny 2 as I have a lot more fun. Probably do about half and half for my time spent gaming.

I've had similar urges but my draw back was the joy of soloing the Nightfall. We all want D2 to match D1 but the basic grind now is horrible in comparison, lengendaries dropping at the same power as blues and always about 10 light below, it's just not fun. Combined with garbbage timers in Nightfalls, a raid that feels more like a story mission crossed with Prison of Elders the only thing that's keeping playing D2 are my clan buddies who are awesome!

1 OdpowiedźI really don't understand ppl. There are so many legitimate complaints on D2 but "spwace magic" ain't one of them. I play D2 the same way as I play D1 but there's a bit more gunplay which is welcoming to me. I still fly around and quick scope enemies. I still launch grenades at a squad of adds then mow them down with auto. I still chain supers with allies. It's the same -blam!-ing thing basically. If I have to read "but mah space majic" one more damn time I'm going to throw my monitor out the window.

1 OdpowiedźThat feeling spot on! Thats what destiny should be idd! You should be popping you super and feel powerful and blasting thru everything. I dont grind like crazy either but i feel the exact same problem... i’m bored, where is the grinding for those awesome rolls or that 1 piece of gear you’ve been drooling over. Atm you pomp some hours in what you want to play with and you get it no matter what :/

16 OdpowiedziI really can't explain why, but the strikes in D1 are so much more entertaining than in D2. Not even talking about The heroics, but the legacy playlist has The same feel as well! The difference is day and night now that they're both just as irrelevant. Maybe it is the space magic

16 OdpowiedziStrike scoring, mission modifiers, heroic missions, strike specific gear, factions(please don't), private matches, game select, [b]good[/b] lore. They just took so much away.

I completely agree. D1 calls my name. I miss doing 4 raids a week on 3 characters, using weapons that actually felt strong. Dishing out some bubble trouble, sometimes double bubble trouble. And you know, tether actually being useful for boss dps. I know the whole "It took 3 years for D1 to be fun, were 3 weeks in. Well bungo had 3 years of destiny 1 to work off. I like being able to put shaders on everything and more glimmer, however the way shaders work somewhat disappoint me. It's not a huge deal, it's just I want my characters to look good all the time, and not like some guardian who got their mismatched armor from a dumpster. However D2 has some solid PvP and patrols actually feel fun.

This^ ... This is what everyone at Bungie needs to see. It's not salt, it's a simple critique that reminds us that it's about making it fun. The slow ability recharge, shaders, the weapon slots, infusion system, 4v4, unrewarding strikes and raids, and timers simply are not fun. You may have just convinced me to go back and re-install D1. Thank you.

That's what I miss! SPACE MAGIC! D2 feels so grounded, something like the dreadnaught was so SciFi that you feel in another place then you can go back to earth or the moon was different too. But in D2 I feel like in differents regions of the same planet. :/

5 OdpowiedziOverall I agree the gear, for a Warlock at least, looks better in D1. I miss my year 2 iron banner gear. Especially my Iron Camelot hood!!

Hunters are now the space magic subclass. Throw arcbolt. Get recharged to full on hitting enemies. Throw arcbolt.

2 OdpowiedziMaybe we should all just play D1 in protest of D2. We did it with Black Ops 3 when Infinite Warfare was garbage, and it worked. Activision started supporting its previous game, something they've never done, because more players were in the older game rather than the new.

Vanilla Destiny compared to Destiny at the end of its cycle was totally different. I suspect D2 will change quite alot too over the years.
