Just wanted to type this for fun before the game comes out. Understandably, we'll probably have the same intro as every other guardian, but what about individual stories? Kinda like how we ended up dead at the beginning of D1. I imagine the few events leading up to us losing our light.
Irish, named with no correlation to the lost state, was fighting off what resistance he could at the fall of the guardians' tower. Where once trading and sales could be acquired, only bullet casings with fallen cabal lay lifeless on the floor at his feet. No one could believe what was happening, cabal attacking not only Earth, but the last city. The shock hadn't worn off Irish as he navigated the, now empty, service trade stands. Fires engulfed most of the flammable areas, giving little illumination at the cowering citizens that were almost slaughtered by the legion of cabal. A lone child broke from his mother's embrace and raced over to Irish. He tugged on Irish's banner for attention. Irish looked down at what caused the pulling, and relaxed once he saw the child.
"Hello child, are you okay?" asked Irish, concerned for the child's health and safety.
"Yes sir, thank you for saving us!" Answered the child. His mother raced over and grasped her child once again in her arms.
"Leave the guardian to do his job honey. We need to seek shelter elsewhere." The mother quickly shuffled away. Irish knew he couldn't stop at every civilian and check their well being, especially since the last attack on the city. As his fireteam moved to the next section the child yelled back at Irish, "When I grow up, I wanna be just like you!" Irish gave a slight smirk and caught up with his group.
The courtyard was a disaster, giant craters were sprinkled, and in the center of one was a guardian and their ghost. Irish sprinted up the ghost to find what was wrong. It's single eye flickered, trying to read Irish's signature.
"Ghost, what happened here?" The ghost's eye motioned toward the Traveler. A giant machine rocketed towards it, spreading an orange glowing sheet around its aura. Irish began to feel heavy, encumbered. What was happening? Was his light being drained? Suddenly Irish's ghost collapsed next to him. Small arms fire broke out from every direction, chaos had met an already confused Irish. One guardian on Irish's fireteam collapsed and didn't resurrect. A bolt of hot matter ripped through Irish's shoulder, exploding his armor. The trauma was so severe he hadn't seen the captain approach from his right.
"Not so invincible now that your precious 'traveler' is taken from your grasp." A few grunt cabal surrounded him and barked, partly laughing with cheers. "Today is your downfall, your deaths will feed my vengeance." The captain reached down and gripped Irish by his helmet. As his massive grip slowly crushed Irish's helmet, the captain walked over to the edge of the tower. "If the drop doesn't kill you, the soon to come bombardment of this wretched excuse for a city will." Irish's last thought before losing consciousness was what the child had said to him only an hour prior. The darkness swallowed his vision.
TLDR; my titan's last fight with the cabal before his light was taken.
Edit: Nice, the thread is on the front page! Thank you all for your responses. It's cool to see the community's perspective of their guardians prior to D2 releasing. I like reading some of the short stories and the occasional "my guardian was cooking a marshmallow" posts.
I understand it's not technically lore based, but some players like to think their guardian's story is generic and personal. It adds depth to a character we play everyday for hours.

I was sitting by the jukebox downstairs in the Tower Hangar, headphones on, listening to Destiny's vanilla soundtrack at full volume. Didn't realize what was going on until I saw a panicked sweeper-bot running in all directions, screaming "The sky is falling, the sky is falling! Panic protocol engaged!".

Warlock - With fwc practicing melees and trying to find ways to increase their range. Hunter - Lying on the sofa in the disco sharpening his blades. 3 Odpowiedzimy 3 characters were chilling in the tower at the bar, and then the tower got attacked! so naturally they got there weapons and started fighting off cabal, getting to Ghaul, or the G-Man as my hunter called him. Ghaul was all like "blah blah i am become death destroyer of worlds" and started fighting them. they took down Gary but then he pulls of a video game cliche where he sikes them and brings them to 1 hp, saying they aren't strong enough and not max light level. So Gary throws them off the tower and they somehow live and were brought to the Farm. The end
that is if i do hopefully play Destiny 2
Playing a far better game. September release, hmmm.... I think I'll be playing either The Lost Legacy or Before the storm. 👍

2 OdpowiedziTitan: Trying to convince Amanda Holiday to add missile launchers to my/our ships. Totally not because he wants to shoot missiles into various holes and pits on the moon to piss off the locals. Warlock: Lounging up by FWC with his head dug into a book. He's not part of the FWC, he just finds their chairs comftorable and threatens to kill whoever tells him to leave. Hunter: Sitting in the lounge by the bar sharpening his knife planning on his next target to kill. He also constantly blasts music to cover up the sound of his rage when he tried to deny Titans are master race and thinks hiding under a cloak will hide his insecurity.

1 OdpowiedźI imagine my warlock went off to help look for Prince Uldren, since she's an awoken and sporting the colors of the Queen's Guard. My hunter takes her duties as a new Iron Lord seriously and is helping Lord Saladin guard the Iron Temple. My titan is off fighting Decepticons. No, really, take off his helmet. It's Bumblebee.

Anubis walked along side of Panther-5 and Leo after leaving the spicy ramen shop. "I think i'm going to to head out and do some patrol" Leo said. "Have fun with that!" Anubis said while Panther-5 laughed. Leo walked off and Anubis and Panther-5 walked towards the hangar. A sudden rumble shook the tower. What was that?" Anubis asked. They ran towards the courtyard and a bright light flashed before their eyes as they were blown across the hangar. Anubis lifted his head to see Panther-5 laying on the ground. "You ok?" Anubis asked. I'm fine, but we need to find Leo. They ran to the courtyard to see cabal everywhere. Cabal warships were launching missiles and cabal drop pods to deliver fresh troops to the fight. A weird looking Cabal ship had attached to the traveler, casting an orange glow. They saw Leo flying through the sky as a dawnblade throwing flaming swords at the Cabal. A gladiator launched into the air behind Leo, grabbed his neck, and threw him to the ground. Anubis cast his Sentinel Shield and Panther-5 drew his Arc Staff, but it was to late. The gladiator brought out two nasty cleavers and brought them down on Leo. They charged at the gladiator again, but before they could reach him something reached within him and ripped the light from his soul. Anubis collapsed and Panther-5 was pinned to the ground by the gladiator. Anubis tried to get up, but couldn't move. His light was gone. The gladiator raised his cleavers for the stunning blow and Panther-5 leaned over and said, " Avenge us, Find-" The cleavers stopped the words from coming out, and Anubis screamed until he couldn't find his voice. "Never thought your light could be taken, could you?" The gladiator laughed, slowly walking towards Anubis, scraping his cleavers across the ground. The gladiator stood over him triumphantly and raised his cleavers. And with every ounce of strength he had left, Anubis kicked out his legs and smashed them into the gladiators legs. The gladiator fell and howled in pain. Anubis slowly stood up and he smashed is fist into the cabal's head and said, This. Is. Homecoming. (aka I'm only bringing my titan character into d2 because my hunter and warlock are ugly)

Watching the tower go up in flame, re-invigorated my passion for her and we did it for another 20 minutes. Then i locked her back in her dungeon and went to go find my ascendant raisins.

Viktor was in the Ocean of Storms on the Moon, looking for supplies in an abandoned Nordic base. The Nordic countries merged together in one big and strong nation, with Ottawa as it capital (Isaac Asimov fan here sorry). Wearing his Saint. 14 helmet and carrying his pulse rifle, Apple of Discord, a fusion rifle and his sword, Dark Drinker, the Nordic human was watching an old video tape. Victor didn't know when it was recorded, but he could see two astronauts walking and jumping on the moon, one with a red and white flag, with a blue rectangle and stars in it. He knew he had seen it before, but he didn't remember when...He realized that he could understand the language the astronauts were speaking in, and felt his love for Humanity getting stronger and more real. His Ghost was silent, philosophizing on what it meant for the people of that time. Viktor received an emergency signal, from the Titan Vanguard, Zavala. He ordered all Guardians to go back to the Last City, because satellites were failing and he thought there was going to be an attack launched from space. The Nordic Guardian smirked, it wasn't the first time. "You really think he is paranoid... is that so?" asked his Ghost. "You know me well, let's get back there, just in case". He called for his ship, and waited... waited... nothing. Viktor became impatient. Where was his ship when he needed it. With is sparrow, he went back to Archer's line to see that dozens of Guardian were standing together... in front of the carcass of a ship. Inside was an Exo. All he could say was that the Speaker had fallen under the Cabal's control and that the Last City was burning down. The Guardians looked at one another in the eyes and they all thought it wasn't going to be the end. Suddenly, the Light fell, and it took the Guardians' Ghost with it. Viktor, like the other Guardians, fell on his knees, but before collapsing, he looked back at Earth. He had failed his planet, he had failed evolution. Without a son or a daughter, how was the Human genetics he was proud of could transfer to another generation. Then he remembered.... he had a son, centuries ago. TLDR: Before collapsing on the Moon alongside his Ghost, he remembered his past life
Sorry for the Grammar and Syntax mistakes, English isn't my first language
Volts-42, an Exo Warlock, was strolling through the Warlock libraries, picking out certain books on the Vex and the Eliksni. He was fascinated by the Eliksni before the Whirlwind, when they were still in possesion of the Traveler. Volts also wanted to know more about the Pattern, and why the Vex followed it. He thought that other Guardians might see him as insane and obsessed with the Fallen or Vex. Volts worried that they would compare him to Osiris or Toland, and that their rumours would reach the ears of the Vanguard Mentors, the three people that he admired the most. He thought the Vanguard might exile him if they knew the extent of his fascination towards the Fallen. Volts reassured himself that this was normal thinking for a Warlock. Besides, Lord Timur, an Iron Lord Warlock whom Volts admired (and wore similar armour to), was said to have gone mad in his search for SIVA and Clovis Bray archives. And he wasn't exiled from the Iron Lords, so why would I be thrown out or exiled from the City or the Vanguard? Volts-42 decided that it was time to go to the Hall of Guardians and confess his fascination of the Fallen and Vex to the Vanguard Mentors, and convince them that he was not mad and that he did not have the intent of leaving them for the Fallen. He hoped that they would understand that he will always serve the Vanguard, and that he would never abandon them. As he walked out and closed the library's door, Volts' Ghost appeared and played a message broadcasted to all Guardians by Commander Zavala, telling them to return to the Tower and help defend the City and fight off a Cabal Invasion. Volts ran up the Tower's stairs and pushed open the door. That's when he saw it. Massive Cabal Carriers and Warships were cruising above the City walls, creating smokescreens to blind the evacuating City ships. Amid the carriers, an even larger command ship was launching Cabal Ripper Pods into the streets and the Tower. Behind the Cabal command ship, a giant six-pronged device had attached itself to the Tower-facing side of the Traveler. Volts and his Ghost stared at the devastion the Cabal had caused. This was their home, and the home of the people they had sworn to protect. "We have all failed as Guardians, haven't we?" Volts asked his Ghost. It didn't answer. But it wasn't over yet. There was still hope. He could join the other Guardians and fight the Cabal. "Ghost, where's my Scout Rifle?" Volts asked. "I'm afraid all Guardians' weapons and armour were destroyed in the initial assault on the Tower," Ghost replied. "At least you still have your Light." Volts-42 activated his Stormtrance, and after a second he realised nothing had happened. Confused, he tried again. No Arc energy. Perplexed, Volts checked with his Ghost and discovered that Stormcaller was not available. It had disappeared. How was he ever going to push back the Darkness without his beloved Stormcaller? Volts-42 looked up at the sky. It was beginning to turn to a blood red colour as fires began to ignite and spread throughout the City. Realising he needed an alternative, Volts decided to step into the Void once again and become a Voidwalker. He ran down to the Tower Armoury where Banshee-44 was rapidly handing out weapons to Guardians. "What weapon do you want, Warlock?" He asked. "I want a Vanguard issue Scout Rifle and Sniper Rifle, please." Volts said quickly and as politely as possible. Banshee turned left, picked up a Scout Rifle and placed it on the table in front of Volts. "Does Not Compute. It's slow firing, but it's long range and great precision and accuracy make up for it." He said. "It's perfect," Volts replied. He took the rifle and weighed it in his metallic hands and looked down the scope. Banshee turned around again and picked out a Sniper Rifle. "It's the latest Vanguard Sniper Rifle, and I heard you were very fond of Hereafter. Well, this is the next best thing." Volts put the Scout Rifle down on the table and took the Sniper Rifle with two hands. "Thanks," he said. He slung it onto his back, put on his helmet, picked up his Scout Rifle and ran towards the plaza. The lights were flicking above Volts-42 as he sprinted down the hall. When he turned the corner, Volts saw six Cabal Legionaries and two Phalanxes, led by a Centurion. He quickly ducked behind a pile of stone rubble and burning banners. Volts peeked out from his cover and aimed his rifle's scope at the Centurion. They looked different from the ones Guardians had encountered on Mars. These Cabal had energy weapons and wore red armour. The Centurion turned around and saw the Exo's shadow briefly projected on the wall by the flickering light. He roared to his troops, a command to attack the Guardian. Volts realised they had seen him and he jumped out from behind the rubble and fired his Scout Rifle four times at the Cabal. Four separate explosions could be heard as the pressure from the Cabal helmets released. Four Legionaries collapsed, black oil splattering the ground. Volts threw an Axion Bolt grenade at the other Cabal and it hit the ground and split. A Legionary and a Phalanx disappeared into the Void. Roaring, one Legionary lunged at Volts, trying to hit him with the butt of his rifle. The Exo dodged the attack and responded with a Warlock melee, pushing the Cabal back and into the wall. The Phalanx stepped foward in front of the Centurion and activated his energy shield, expanding it from wall to wall. He started to shoot, but Volts ducked behind the corner. He didn't know how to take down this new shield. He took out his Sniper Rifle, moved out from behind the wall and aimed it at the top of the expanded shield. He waited four seconds and then the Phalanx peeked his head over the shield. Volts pull the trigger and the Phalanx's helmet exploded from the release of pressure. The Cabal's body slumped against the energy shield and it deactivated and fell to the stone floor. The Centurion was now the only one left. He roared and charged at the Warlock. Volts slung the Sniper Rifle over his back as he jumped up and felt Void Light flowing through his arm to his hand. He lifted up his hand, drew it back and then with the power of a collapsing star at his fingertips, pushed it forward, into the Centurion's path. The Cabal could not stop himself in time and was completely annihilated by the Nova Bomb. The outline of Centurion briefly glowed purple with Void energy and then he dissolved. As Volts-42 glided back down to the stone floor, he called out to his Ghost. His Ghost came out from around the corner and came to a stop forty centimetres from his Guardian's helmet. Exhausted, Volts removed the helmet from his head. "What must I do now?" he asked his Ghost. Ghost replied with "The Vanguard are evacuating the City residents and all Guardians to the European Dead Zone and-... Oh dear, what is happening to the Traveler?" They both looked up at the blood red sky and saw the Traveler, and the six-pronged device attached to it had formed a shield that encompassed the sphere. Volts suddenly felt weak, like his Light was gone. His felt dizzy and disorientated, he closed his eyes and collapsed. His Ghost stared at him anxiously, unsure what to do. "Volts? Volts! Wake up! Wake up, Guardian!" Volts-42 opened his Exo eyes to see his Ghost nudging him awake. "Guardian? Eyes up, Guardian! Ah good, you're awake." His Ghost exclaimed. "How long have I been out for?" Volts asked, getting up. "Only a few minutes. The Cabal have cut all Guardians off from their Light. How they did it, I don't really know. But we need to get out of here now and go to the European Dead Zone where other Guardians may be. We may even find answers there." Ghost explained. The Exo Warlock looked up at his Ghost and said "I understand. Lead the way out, Ghost." Volts-42 lifted his helmet over his head, checked his Sniper Rifle and picked up his Scout Rifle. He slung it over his shoulder and walked after his Ghost.

Edytowany przez użytkownika GameCents: 7/13/2017 7:11:14 PMAegis-15 had just arrived at the cosmodrome to patrol. Nothing out of the ordinary. However, as he began his route, he soon noticed something extraordinary. The fallen were... gone. Every den and hideaway, empty. Weapons and materials were still scattered across the ground in many places. It all appeared rather disorganized. He knew only one thing. This was not a movement or an attack. This had been an escape. "An escape from what?" He wondered, continuing his circuit. The exo-titan then entered the tunnels beneath, scouting carefully for any other changes. The hive were still present. The thrall were still too noisy. But, Aegis couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right. The hive were moving farther and farther from the surface. In fact, none had been anywhere near the entrance. They were retreating, it seemed, deeper underground. After clearing out some mid-level corridors, it was starting to get late. Aegis walked back toward the surface, pondering all that he'd seen. As he reached the surface, that was when it happened. He heard it before he saw it. It was a wretched, terrible sound. It was not just the sound of ships. It was the sound of war. An armada of Cabal ships was already looming above him, eclipsing the sky and obscuring the ruins around him. That was not all Aegis heard. The sky itself was rumbling, like the beat of a war drum. A storm was brewing. Summoning his ship, he could only pray that he would make it to the city in time.
