Learning to snipe (Input Requested)
So I am finally trying to learn and getting beat up pretty bad. So far I like No Land Beyond best because the zoom is simple. I seem to miss a lot though so wanted to ask the boards.
What is a good learner rifle and what zoom am I looking for if I don't want to focus too deep? I get blind sided too easily and targets move too fast.
Also what modes would you recommend trying first?

Farm for Queen Breakers Bow if you don't already have it. And learn to slay with it. It's pretty satisfying going around quickscoping and hip firing people with a Fusion Rifle. After all using an Icebreaker you get rewarded for dying since you regen ammo. At least use some other sniper other than Icebreaker...

Not alot of people seem to notice especially with no land but when you aim on the head there is a tiny red dot that appears guaranteeing a headshot once you train your eye to see it your in good shape i hope this helps 😊 now go pop some heads guardian😊

9 OdpowiedziUse Icebreaker ??? Profit. Big hitbox, no need to worry about ammo, max range so it gets aim assist even across the entire map, high impact so bodyshotting is a free kill pretty much. If you aren't a scumbag though, use something like an LDR, Longbow, 1000 Yard, etc. Has decent aim assist, high impact, and all around are just solid snipers (as far as non Icebreaker snipers go ayy lmao).

2 OdpowiedziAt this point just wait for destiny 2. But if you are that set on sniping then use shortgaze scope. You want to keep your scope at head level so you only have to move side to side. Slide around corners to challenge (you will get used to that one in time). If you hit a body shot be ready to pull out your primary to finish them off. Dont worry about your kd and just go for it.

If you dont care about winning control or rift are good options because its easy to predict where people are going to be and they tend to be in fights with others so they arent focused on snipers as much depending on the map. 6v6 modes are all viable to practice sniping on tho.

I cannot recommend 20/20 AMR7 more. With ambush and snapshot, it's a quickscope rifle with low Aim assist. Plus, it also has the weakest impact of all snipers (87[?] to the body) means that it's not two body shots to kill. I've been using this thing and haven't been disappointed. Relying on snipers like LDR 5001 or other high Aim Assist guns makes it harder to time your shots when you're under pressure [b]in my opinion[/b].

Longbow/LdR Look for Shortgaze or Ambush Icebreaker is for people who camp lanes. This is NOT how to get good sniping.. find one with a high stability and know when you miss your shot to switch to your primary. Dont go for double body shots as you are wasting bullets. Headshots are great, but recognize when a player is low health simply aim for the body. Dont let using a sniper change your gameplay, let your gameplay find the best angles and lanes. 6's on small maps is the best way to learn.. fast, and understand spawn positions before you go hardscoping a lane while your team is on A and your at C.. Know when to pick up and retreat. Get to your teammates for help as most will be using shotguns.. force players into choke points ny baiting lanes after being shot. And PLEASE dont poke out when you have been body shot by a sniper.. find a diff angle and slide out of cover.

The Seventh Sense is a decent sniper rifle to learn with. Use Ambush or Shortgaze scopes. Personally I like using mine with Hidden Hand. Practice in the Cosmodrome's Mothyards for PvE and Shores of Time/Pantheon for PvP. [quote]O fellow 916'er[/quote]

You should try like hell to get a Defiance of Yasmin or a Weyloran's March and start with that. Those are 2 high aim assist snipers that are essentially training wheels for other sniper rifles. Always use either LV 10, or Shortgaze or Linear is what I like on the barrel type. Also use PVE and try to drag snipe enemies. This helps as well.

There's no point. Body shot snipers are a thing in D2. If you want good thumbs, play a bunch of COD and you'll be set for D2.

What's helped me is finding a "landmark" on a wall behind a guardian. There are some maps that will have a mark or a "line" on a wall that is head level. Set your sights there, and wait for a player to peak or walk out. Also, ghosts of dead players float about head level. Use that as a guide. You can also use your team mates heads (at any range) to predict where someones head will be. Don't use NLB until you master an IB, 1KYS, etc. It really helps. The NLB can be a little tricky to use sometimes. But if you play reserved or way back, this helps as well. Good luck!

No land beyond... Not the best starting sniper. Pick up either a longbow, ldr, or thousand yard stare. Look for the shortgauze or ambush scopes.

1 OdpowiedźOk. Top tier sniper here. NLB used to be very strong, but now it is mediocre at best. Personally, I use a 1000yard/longbow/LDR, but if you are in need of ammo, use the icebreaker. I use the icebreaker quite a lot myself. Look for one that has shortgaze slh10, (pretty much required) then ideally it would have some of the following perks: QuickDraw, rifled barrel, firefly, hidden hand, unflinching, or underdog. This is my opinion, but I do have more sniper kills than any other category on my hunter. I have tens of thousands of crucible snipes overall. Good luck, sniping is so much fun!

If you want a lower optic sniper, any will work if they have the Ambush or Shortgaze scopes. However, there are multiple archetypes of snipers. I would recommend something along the lines of the 1000 yard stair, the Y-09 Longbow Synthesis, LDR 5001, or Her Fury. These, along with the others in their archetype, are have good stopping power and have a rate of fire comparable to snipers in other games, such as those that appear in Halo, making them a little easier to get used to. As for modes, try hitting shots in any PvE environment, then switching to PvP. I would recommend the 6v6 modes due to special ammo being more readably available upon death. The rest is mainly just experience and developing your knowledge of the maps and what other players might do. One of the things that I do that I would suggest is to quickly pop out of your scope every so often to check your radar, then ads again. This should cut down on getting blind sided. You can also strafe while sniping, which will make harder to hit and can help to keep up with faster targets. However, be mindful of where you are when strafing so you don't potentially fall the map. Something that I do that a lot of people don't is to move every couple of kills. This helps cut down on getting focused by other players and keeps them guessing so that they can't just avoid where you are sniping. Ice breaker, you don't have to be the most accurate to put someone down when you have 6 shots to play with.

I'm not a great sniper, but there was a time where I couldn't get a single kill in Crucible with them. But what really helped was watching a video from True Vanguard on how to snipe. Some things have since this video was made, but it should get you some basic principles in sniping. It was for me. I included a link below. Also look for any sniper with Quickdraw and Hidden Hand. Those are typically more forgiving. A lot of people sware by the Shortgaze scope, I'm one that like TacSys. I always seem to get that scope so I started getting used to it.
