Josh Hamrick nerfed Hungering Blade because of situations he experienced. He said on stream that it was HIS idea. The class is arguably the worst in the game already, hence the name “TradeDancer.” When running its iconic jump move, Blink, you lose a lot of recovery. Enough to make the class a step down from the others to begin with. So let’s say you don’t run Blink.. Well higher jump isn’t great, we all know that, and better control is best paired with BoE for movement and quick plays. So you already have an exotic slot used up, if you still want to be nimble. In all reality that’s what Hunters should be used for. Speed. Quickdraw is quickly being shadowed by Ophidian Aspects’ because it does everything the perk does and more. Blink strike is horribly unreliable still, especially with Backstab getting people from the front. Moving to look at the super, things do not improve.
Compare the Tradedan~cough~ excuse me ‘Bladedancer’ to another roaming super. For example Hammer of Sol. This subclass has a perk that allows immediate health and shield regen after killing enemies with your fire abilities. Hammer of Sol also, as we all know, THROWS hammers. So we have a super that allows immediate health regeneration, with ranged and throwable OHK’s, and great movement thanks to titan skating. Not to mention Suncharge allows you to cover great distances with a one hit melee. Looking back at Bladedancer now. The swing distance is not great, especially comparing it to effective ranges of shotguns and melee abilities (even more so when combining the two) as it is a melee super. It will no longer grant full health and shield region upon kill. Its time in super is shorter than that of some other roaming supers. You can consistently get killed out of or trade with a guardian on your first kill attempt, even with good skill. Finally, Bladedancer takes 2 hits to kill Hammer of Sol, when HoS only takes one throw to kill BD’s…
The class cannot compete when you look at how it compares to other classes. If you run SV then you sacrifice either recovery to run Blink, or movement speed to run better control. Bones of Eao gives you the movement speed but does not make up for the lack of neutral game weakness. The Super cannot effectively and constantly get 3 kills like all other roaming supers can (even sun singers have a OHK melee, and the ability to come back from the dead into their super).
Disclaimer: some of my fact may be wrong and I would like to be corrected if they are. Regardless of that, you cannot just dismiss how ineffective this class has become even since the start of Y2. Please understand this is my opinion and should be taken with a grain of salt. If you feel the same then please support, but if you do not then please voice that opinion in the comments as well.

Edytowany przez użytkownika BurningViper 7-2: 6/29/2017 12:57:34 PMI always accidentally call him Josh Hamstring for some reason... It's not even on purpose! I swear! It just happens! I feel bad for the sandbox team for having to put up with him. That being said...
Whenever I get a package of plain M&Ms, I make it my duty to continue the strength and robustness of the candy as a species. To this end, I hold M&M duels. Taking two candies between my thumb and forefinger, I apply pressure, squeezing them together until one of them cracks and splinters. That is the “loser,” and I eat the inferior one immediately. The winner gets to go another round. I have found that, in general, the brown and red M&Ms are tougher, and the newer blue ones are genetically inferior. I have hypothesized that the blue M&Ms as a race cannot survive long in the intense theater of competition that is the modern candy and snack-food world. Occasionally I will get a mutation, a candy that is misshapen, or pointier, or flatter than the rest. Almost invariably this proves to be a weakness, but on very rare occasions it gives the candy extra strength. In this way, the species continues to adapt to its environment. When I reach the end of the pack, I am left with one M&M, the strongest of the herd. Since it would make no sense to eat this one as well, I pack it neatly in an envelope and send it to M&M Mars, A Division of Mars, Inc., Hackettstown, NJ 17840-1503 U.S.A., along with a 3×5 card reading, “Please use this M&M for breeding purposes.” This week they wrote back to thank me, and sent me a coupon for a free 1/2 pound bag of plain M&Ms. I consider this “grant money.” I have set aside the weekend for a grand tournament. From a field of hundreds, we will discover the True Champion. There can be only one.

This copypasta is just too much, I can't even finish reading the first sentence without bursting out laughing.

KUPO!!!™
6 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika PhoEverMad: 2/14/2017 5:52:09 PMBladedancer's neutral game isn't that bad. You've got skips and QuickDraw. Those two itself can compete with other subclasses neutral game. Im guessing the worse subclass neutral game right now would probably be storm caller since they nerfed the melee ability range and it never really had good grenades either lol. I main blade dancer btw.

1 OdpowiedźEdytowany przez użytkownika Maverick426h: 2/12/2017 7:06:47 AMI have always run Bladedancer and hopefully will continue to do so, but there are definitely a lot of weaknesses in the subclass. To me, blink is now not even an option with the nerf to recovery. Backstab is so tough to accomplish (for me) that it's not viable at all. I use escape artist, but I feel it's often pointless because the enemy hears your super turn on anyway. So, they know where you're coming from. I like fleet footed actually better than quickdraw, believe it or not. The added speed/agility makes me feel normal and I don't really need quickdraw with a sidearm. Why a sidearm, you ask? Because -blam!- shotguns. People outrun my arc blade all of the time, especially skating titans. Not a thing you can do about it. It's a problem, for sure. Try running arc blade in a mayhem match and you'll quickly see that it is the weakest offensive super in the game. Occasionally you can take out hammers or stormtrance, but it often takes two swipes, so you need to get lucky. While hungering blade is essential and theoretically very useful, it seems like you often just trade on the first or second kill and therefore the health regen does nothing for you. Why am I dying when I get a kill if I have hungering blade? That and blink strike kills are so difficult to get because the range is terrible and the damage is just not that great. Don't even get me started on PvE Bladedancer...Lol

31 OdpowiedziSorry, but as a Sunbreaker, I don't agree with the fact that everyone is comparing Arcblade to Hammer of Sol. Stop doing it. We have Cauterize but it doesn't give you full health upon a kill, it only starts health regen. After a short delay. That happened im that one December patch during TTK. Unlike Hungering Blade which is immediate on both health and shields. You say that Arc Blade takes two hits to kill a Sunbreaker, but you can swipe twice before I throw my second Hammer. If you dodge you can easily kill me. If I don't hit you directly with the Hammer it will also take two hits to kill you. In practicality, in close ranges it is easier to get kills with Arc Blade than Sunbreaker, given how people scatter. Stop trying to use Arc Blade as if its a weak Hammer of Sol. It's not. Arc Blade is strong if you can use it correctly. And with the shotgun changes I think facing shotgunners as a Bladedancer will become much easier. Wait for the changes to drop before making judgements. All this chatter about the stream is just theory. Until you have your facts, admit that these are just opinions based on somewhat bad gameplay and unspecified details. I really don't think the changes coming will cause inconveniences.

#Dulldancer Their blades need sharpening asap

Hunters are always so salty.

1 OdpowiedźFirst things first, no one ever says Tradedancer. Like, no one. Anywhere. Second, blink strike is inconsistent in a good way, by that I mean getting ridiculous kills with frontstab. I thought the nerds were terrible too. But then I thought, maybe he encountered these situations in the test servers. Maybe they decided it was MUCH too difficult to shut down a super THAT constantly heals now that shotguns can't do criticals and there is less ammo.

Edytowany przez użytkownika Ken Rocker: 2/13/2017 10:21:09 PMHi Josh, Current state of bladedancer: http://youtu.be/hCPxPh-2SjM (Blinkstrike shortstop) http://youtu.be/Zx-4XPL-A50 (Arcblade takes 3 swipes to kill one enemy, thus giving them plenty of time to trade a kill with you) Please nerf!

Doesn't bother me. I'm still going to have fun and get multi-kills with my blade. There comes a time in PvP when everything plays as expected and every movement becomes predictable. The nerfs make no sense, especially the Stormcaller melee, but it won't have any impact on my playstyle and my fun in IB. The outcome will be the same. I think many players out there who run whatever they want regardless of the placebo meta will understand what I'm talking about. Whether it's shotgun followed by a melee, or a fusion grenade at a running Striker. It's become predictable but still fun just like yesterday. I'm just a filthy casual PvE player who only plays IB once a month for my PvP enjoyment. I don't take it seriously, there's no real life reward. It's a 2 hour escape from reality.

2 OdpowiedziI'm fine with the change, lunge distance does need to improved slightly though (it's too easy to out run blade).

-
No name a shaming on this forum buddy. You could get banned for it
-
What game have you been playing? It's a one hit kill using bladedancer in normal circumstances.
-
name and shame?
-
I believe if you go max armor and a bonus armor when using arc based subclass chest piece it takes two hits from a hammer to kill you

1 OdpowiedźPeople act like there isn't going to be shotguns anymore
-
13 OdpowiedziPerhaps they nerfed Hungering Blade because in their internal testing, Blade Dancer is very powerful due to the special ammo nerf. The lack of shotgun ammo is going to make it hard to kill Blade Dancer. I mean look at how hard it was to kill Sunbreaker when Cauterize was strong. Regenerating health upon every kill would be very, very difficult to deal with.
-
At this point Sunsinger is stronger than Bladedancer.
-
Edytowany przez użytkownika Silver: 2/11/2017 8:38:57 PMNot quite sure about this. But I am almost positive Blade, next to shotguns, has received the most nerfs in the entire game. At this point Bungie should just leave Bladedancers alone as it is horrible in PvE and pretty bad in PvP.
-
If kick your titans ass on my Hunter
-
6 OdpowiedziI just don't understand the whole "you lose your radar when you activate blink" thing. Probably the stupidest thing they have done.
-
Dudes logic is flawless. Too bad bungie cant read :/ or they can read and just dont give a shit cuz they know they have a band of children following their every move to make them feel good about themselves. Probably why half the sandbox teams wives are cheating on them.
-
5 OdpowiedziYeah because they didn't use any data whatsoever and it couldn't possibly have a correlation to a large shotgun nerf that were the main counter to the super... geniuses on this forum I swear
