Some states require different licenses for open and concealed carry. Why does it matter how I'm carrying my firearm? Why is open carry treated any differently than concealed carry?

1 OdpowiedźConcealed carry was created for democratic states. It mainly helps the police dispatch by keeping the number of calls by lefties that saw a gun and were triggered down.

I think the training courses required for obtaining a concealed carry permit are more involved than open carry. So someone who has a concealed carry permit has a better knowledge on how to safely use their firearm as well as appropriate situations on when to use it.
-
I assume it's because a concealed carry has a higher margin of danger for those around you, or something of the sort.

1 OdpowiedźJust study the laws of your city and state about concealed weapons permits. Most of the time there is a test and a fat tax.

Open carry let's others know that you have a gun. I open carry my Honeybadger when I carry it, as people should know that I have it. I close carry my Glock when I can. Close carry is so people don't know you have it. My former Bishop would close carry a Glock to church. Certain areas do not allow close carry, as you may catch a criminal easier (although this doesn't work often).

In California, Washington, and Utah I believe that in order to carry on any form you have to have a CWP.

29 OdpowiedziI'd add that it's stupid to open carry. Makes you the first target of any criminals. I would never open carry in public.

5 OdpowiedziWell I'm shocked you're actually sounding like you agree with the 2nd ammendment but basically it goes back to the heller decision. We have a right to carry arms but the Supreme Court said it is state decision how they want to go about it so with anti 2nd ammendment states they make it almost immposible for even concealed carry, and provide gun states make it easy or require no licensing. Supreme Court was wrong on this part though it says the right to keep and bare arms shall not be infringed we are supposed to carry at our own discretion

Some states allow open carry of handguns without a license. Some require no license. And Chicago has strictest gun laws but an extremely high rate of gun crime.
-
Because stupid reasons. Personally, I'd say all states should just have constitutional concealed carry and a permit expanding where you can carry, like schools and sensitive areas. Obviously the permit has requirements like some training and extensive background checks. But they're not too hard to get if you're good citizen. And concealed permit holders have a smaller violent crime rate than police.

I think it may be based on some mentality things, but I can't be sure. If ir were my choice, I woild want the citizens to feel safety in not seeing any visible guns being carried. But then again, safety could also come in mental preparation for a bad situation, which instinctively begins upon seeing the gun.

3 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika SpiRits: 11/29/2016 3:22:19 PMYou dont need a liscense to open carry in any state i think... When i say open carry i mean a riffle of some kind, not a handgun...
-
Because it's visible. Giving people more of a heads up. Personally I think permits are offensive to the constitution and think 2A is all the permit needed.

Conceal allows you to take a test, in which allows you to conceal in places you can't openly have a gun. It assures the concealer is of right mind to own and properly use a hand gun.

-
In regards to carrying, it entirely depends on on your preference, whether or not you want people around you to know you're carrying. In regards to the license, it really depends on the state's ideas of gun control. Some people want all guns banned, some want one strapped to each limb.
-
Depends on the state......

4 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika HeadHunter: 11/29/2016 11:15:51 AMI believe it helps deter criminals and maniacs from walking around with guns in public. As for the law abiding citizens, its makes everyone safer requiring a permit. There are waaay more people out in public with a concealed weapon than buckroos with a open carry, and to get it you have to take safe handling classes and become somewhat educated. I dont have one, but my state requires nothing to open carry, or have a gun in your vehicle. If trump makes good on his claim to make a concealed carry permit similar to a drivers license, where it will be valid in all states that offer then ill probably get one.

2 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika Xolfar: 11/29/2016 5:26:01 AMIt doesnt matter how you carry your firearm, its just the government taking your rights away and making you pay to get them back, i.e. hunting and fishing licences. Its just the big man bending you over for some extra money. But really, if you want to conceal carry you must have a permit, just look up your states regulations on how to apply for one, and also verify that your state is an open carry state, and check where open and concealed carry is allowed within your state.
