I had the pleasure tonight to participate in what l believe is the oldest fireteam to ever play Destiny or perhaps any other video game. I'm 73, Coldstoneshoki_9 is 72 and IronDuke-177 is the youngster of the group at 66. We total 211 years. By the end of this year we will add to the total as IronDuke will be 67 in November and Coldstoneshoki will be 73 in December. We played 2 Heroic strikes and 2 320 strikes and some Archon's Forge. It make take us older Guardians longer and we die a lot more than you younger Guardians but we can still get it done.
So have fun, don't get discouraged when things are hard and not going your way and never stop gaming.
I did ask permission from both Guardians to use their gamer tags in this post.
Edit: some Guardians have replied to the post by questioning my motives, that l am an attention seeker, which is a valid argument. From my perspective, as someone who has been kicked from events, left behind when l lost my way, ignored in clans and refused help when l asked for it, here is my reply:
The point of the post is to make the Community aware that there are many more "mature" gamers playing than is widely known. That players don't have to think of quitting when they reach at certain age, it's o.k. to keep on gaming whatever you age may be. That even as time takes it's toll on your body and reflexes video games can be fun and achievements are not out of reach.
I was fortunate enough to be chosen as the Community Focus for July 20, 2015 and through that experience I learned that there are many older and middle aged gamers playing who contemplate quitting because they think there is some kind of stigma associated with being an older gamer or they feel they are being a drag on their fireteam because their KTD is too low. They don't want to be "that guy" who no one wants on their team. I want to encourage them to keep playing. That there are gamers who are older than they are who aren't giving up and that gaming can be enjoyable even when their minds and bodies are slowing down. Aren't these forums supposed to be a place the Community can share achievements and not just rip each other apart?

Much respect to you and your team. Gaming is something nobody should have to stop because of some social insecurity.

Rock on you crazy Diamond!

1 OdpowiedźThis almost sounds like a plead for a old man emote with a sort of "ow my back" kinda deal. No hate, that would actually be cool

Perfect, thank you for the smile, this was great.

Congrats on finding an accepting group!

1 OdpowiedźEdytowany przez użytkownika JBO: 10/28/2016 10:41:17 AMThat's awesome. I'm 31 I've been playing since OG Nintendo when i was about 5 and hope i can keep playing until my hands just don't work anymore. Me and my group actually play with my friends dad a lot who is older. (Not quite on you guys level but yeah) and he may not be top 1% in crucible or soloing Aksis but he holds his own, has fun, has heart, and puts every ounce of effort to not let the team down. (And never does) We call him the godfather. LoL

5 OdpowiedziI have an almost 60years old gamer in my clan and we do all the activities destiny offers from strikes to hard raid together. Sure sometimes it takes a little longer to do certain parts (jumping sections tend to be the most challenging) but ultimately we get everything done as a team and it's very fun to do so. I just hope when I'm at your age that i can game and have fun doing so like you do. Keep doing the things the way you do.

Respect Dude. 50 here at least I know I have a few more gaming years left in me

Hey, it's you! I remember you from your post earlier this year. As I recall, lots of trolls and salty turds floated around in that thread as well. Good on you for not giving a single -blam!- and doing something you like despite something silly like age and increasing limitations. Gaming knows no age restriction, so keep going until you can't anymore, man.

Great post. Nice to see something positive for a change.

1 OdpowiedźFun can be had by anyone, for it cares not what your age is.

Such a nice read. Keep it up guys. My mind boggles at some of the comments though.

Thanks! Now I don't feel kinda weird for being in my 30s and still gaming. As long as it's fun, it's worth doing! Actually, that mantra could get you in a lot of trouble in life...
