I had the pleasure tonight to participate in what l believe is the oldest fireteam to ever play Destiny or perhaps any other video game. I'm 73, Coldstoneshoki_9 is 72 and IronDuke-177 is the youngster of the group at 66. We total 211 years. By the end of this year we will add to the total as IronDuke will be 67 in November and Coldstoneshoki will be 73 in December. We played 2 Heroic strikes and 2 320 strikes and some Archon's Forge. It make take us older Guardians longer and we die a lot more than you younger Guardians but we can still get it done.
So have fun, don't get discouraged when things are hard and not going your way and never stop gaming.
I did ask permission from both Guardians to use their gamer tags in this post.
Edit: some Guardians have replied to the post by questioning my motives, that l am an attention seeker, which is a valid argument. From my perspective, as someone who has been kicked from events, left behind when l lost my way, ignored in clans and refused help when l asked for it, here is my reply:
The point of the post is to make the Community aware that there are many more "mature" gamers playing than is widely known. That players don't have to think of quitting when they reach at certain age, it's o.k. to keep on gaming whatever you age may be. That even as time takes it's toll on your body and reflexes video games can be fun and achievements are not out of reach.
I was fortunate enough to be chosen as the Community Focus for July 20, 2015 and through that experience I learned that there are many older and middle aged gamers playing who contemplate quitting because they think there is some kind of stigma associated with being an older gamer or they feel they are being a drag on their fireteam because their KTD is too low. They don't want to be "that guy" who no one wants on their team. I want to encourage them to keep playing. That there are gamers who are older than they are who aren't giving up and that gaming can be enjoyable even when their minds and bodies are slowing down. Aren't these forums supposed to be a place the Community can share achievements and not just rip each other apart?

1 OdpowiedźEdytowany przez użytkownika The Kelbi Hunter: 10/28/2016 11:58:41 PMI love this. I've played a bit with an older gentleman in his 80s who ONLY played patrol. It was a challenge for him to even move. Often I would watch him moving around with his gun pointed into the floor, losing battles to a single dreg, and frequently falling off the map. BUT he had fun. Having our characters sit down by a cliff and watch the cosmodrome sunset was in some ways more satisfying than going flawless or beating a raid. I also play a lot with a fabulous lady who is in her 50's. She started playing Destiny in year 1, and told me one time that this game "kept her mind snappy" in year 3 she is now one of the best PvE players I know, playing all 3 classes and having no trouble beating hard raids. I'm gonna turn 30 this November. I've played video games my whole life on PC, and every console since atari. I used to consider myself to be the best of the best, but Trails of Osiris has introduced me to so many kids half my age that can outplay me hard. It's a bit frustrating sometimes, but I love it. I will always love it. And someday, I might be the guy who has trouble getting to the cliffside to look at view. But I'll have fun doing it. If you guys are on PSN send me a friend request and I will have fun playing with you. Ps. Isn't the ONLY reason to post somthing to get attention? If it wasn't there would be no point to do it at all... the core reason forums exist is to get or give attention.

43 OdpowiedziWhat even is the point of this post? Most of us don't even believe that but yet we still put nice comments down. All I see is someone seeking attention with some friends.

Edytowany przez użytkownika White 420 Rook: 10/28/2016 5:54:29 AM🍻 Cheers. Age is a state of mind. Im nearing 40. People think that 🎮+👴= some sort of mal adjusted lifestyle. What geting older makes having having fun is illegal? Ide much rather play with mature people than A Squeaker👶squad. Age is a number not a limit. So...... From 👶-👴 GAME ON!!! Untill 👶👲👴💀👻👼

8 OdpowiedziActually you three are a bunch of young wippersnappers. Me and my two older brothers play destiny daily. We all fell in love with video games over thirty years ago and haven't stopped playing all these years later. I'm 76. My brother Theodore is 78. And my brother Simon is 81. I remember two years ago when Simon said to me, "Alvin, I found a game that we can all play together". And since then we haven't stopped. Sometimes Simon loses his glasses and he can't join us but usually we're always doing something and we really love ToO. We've gone Flawless a few times and all main Hunters. Our Dad Dave would've loved this game and wish he had the chance to play too. He passed away back when PS first came out. 235 years old altogether.

3 OdpowiedziI'm only 17. . . . Does that mean I have over 50 more years that I can play video games? Awesome.

Edytowany przez użytkownika djchanclaface: 10/29/2016 2:16:02 AMPay no attention to the children. That's killer. I got my dad into command and conquer 20+ years ago and he still plays now in his 60s. I see old people in retirement homes laid up in bed or on a wheelchair and all I can think is, put a controller in their hand and let them have a blast. If you sort of twitch a couple fingers and see ok, you can game. Our younger generations will just voluntarily plug ourselves into the matrix when our bodies go out and game until the end.

this is possibly the coolest thing ive ever read on this forum. Epic guys,

Rock on dude! I'm 59 myself. The reflexes ain't what they used to be. But, then again, nothing is like it used to be.
-
I thought I was the old man in Destiny at 44, good to see you chaps still gaming. I hope my hands are still working enough in my 70's to continue gaming.
-
Good for you! I believe life is to be enjoyed. I will be 50 in March and I have zero issues hanging with whomever.
-
Ok, i now feel like a baby guardian

One of my best friends on Destiny is in his fifties, which isn't quite as venerable as you OP, but nevertheless he is proof that you don't need to be too young to have fun. I don't discriminate based on age, as long as I don't have to worry about you having a heart attack because of some awful jokes we're telling in the party.
-
3 OdpowiedziI would love if you guys stream your next strike run. I would watch that religiously.
-
Good for you, i hope to be gaming at that age as well

Game on fellow guardian! 50 in December

Much respect to you and your team. Gaming is something nobody should have to stop because of some social insecurity.
