Let’s talk about Trials.
Now after looking over the forums there seems to be a lot of salt in regards to ToO, and how it’s handled. Some people are suggesting "Playlist Lock Outs", you run you’re 3 games that week and your done. This of course of absurd, people paid for the game, they should be able to play it with their friends. Streams seem to gain popularity by carrying viewers, and people just like elimination. Other still have suggested once you, run flawless you are relegated to a Flawless only playlist, but this, again does not fix the underlining issue with ToO.
Many of you would be surprised to know the apparent algorithm according to Bungie for ToO is not based off your skill as a player or even your aggregate skill as a team. It’s not SBMM, or even connection. A couple of games in ToO make this apparent, lag, cheating, and very one sided matches seem to run rampant one moment you’ll 5-0 a team that you had no right playing against, and the next you’ll get 5-0ed against a team that had no right playing against you. The algorithm is based off you’re your ToO card Win’s. This is RNG in a playlist that should be about skill, not RNG.
This is ludicrous, for a vast number of reason, including but not limited to; people who have already been flawless playing again, against weaker opponents. Players who wish to boost their Trials Win stats so they play the first 5 games on a card, scrap it get another and play again. And one sided matches. The list really does go on and on and on.
The simple solution, a rank the Trials Play List.
I’m going to give a dumbed down overview of how this should work.
Your ranking is 1-50. This is displayed on your Emblem next to your light and level, if you’re rank 25 for example, the game does everything in its power to find other 25’s. If it cannot find other 25’s then it slowly opens the skill gap in both directions. So 24-26, then if it till has trouble, it keeps moving it till it’s able to find a proper match, connection of course being a high priority. For anyone keeping track this is how bungie handled Halo 3’s ranking.
The only problem, I see with matching people based on a ranking system, is the top 1% of players will play one another, opening up the lighthouse for more of the community. Which when you think about it isn't really a problem.
EDIT: It should be noted that the point of showing Rank in ToO, is less to denote elitism which, yes it will create, and more to hold bungie to account, with a number we can see at a glance how well the system is working, and hold them to account if it doe not work. Will there be exploration? Like there was in Halo 3, yes but under Bungies guidelines that is cheating, and should be handled accordingly.

5 OdpowiedziStop just stop! Trials is the somewhat only competetive playlist in Destiny. Can we please keep it that way without you scrubs asking for Bungie hand outs? Back when I started playing ToO it was up to me to improve.

I've played Destiny since beta, and I have never really enjoyed crucible because of this. It feels like I either smoke the other team, or I get curb stomped. I've never stepped foot in Trials because I know it would drive me insane! This matchmaking system has been broken since day one. Which is surprising knowing that Bungie made Halo 2/3, which had very fair matchmaking. Feels like they forgot how to create a system that actually works. I always thought that basing the matchmaking on your actual crucible rank made sense. Wins would net you more rep than losses. This results in the good players that play a ton being matched up with a similar level, instead of people that don't play/win being matched against super 1337 MLG uber pros

Should be a different Trials playlist for people whove made it to the light house that week for that specific character. Thats not going to make it any easier for people who suck. Its going to give the normal players a chance without super sweaty try hards who are still playing Monday night just to try and stop people from making it.

19 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika Raider TCK: 10/4/2016 1:37:23 AMWouldn't work. Firstly it would be impossible to actually go flawless. You get matched up against people who are all on your skill level, your never going to win 7 matches without loosing one. Terrible players will be matched against equally terrible. Good players would be matched up against just as good. Secondly, what it would encourage is account recovery. Thirdly, trials rewards skill. Experience and playing the game. I have barely a positive kd overall. That's because of skill based matchmaking. Every game I play is a sweat and every play I play against people who have a minimum of 10+ flawless passages under their belt. I don't really play 6s anymore (where it's easy to farm kills/wins) mainly 3s and rumble, so I get rewarded in trials where I have a higher kd than I do in any other playlist. Fourthly (not sure if that's a word) who's skill is it going to match you against. Say your a pretty terrible player. But you are playing with a friend who is an absolute monster. SBMM finds a team full of players on your friends skill level. You get -blam!-ing annihilated.

Me and a couple guys got whooped. The match making was way off.

6 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika ARCHER444: 10/3/2016 8:30:28 PMUnfortunately, skill rank is a horrible way to conduct matchmaking. What is the protocol? Matchmake teams based on the highest ranking member on each fire team? Or the average ranking? The lowest ranking? Regardless- it would take forever to find a match based on skill- and the subsequent match-ups against players in other freaking countries! No -blam!-ING thanks! My suggestion: the Lighthouse visit should just be 9 wins- period. No need for a flawless run. And KEEP the current matchmaking mode. A flawless ticket gets you adept gear/flawless emblem. Everyone else just completes the bounties and gets to visit the lighthouse if they need the grimoire. The ticket would still have the 9 yellow win bubbles to fill; however, losses do not get recorded. Instead, a 'flawless boon' (or whatever you want to call it) on the ticket disappears after the first loss on the ticket. An incentive for everyone to continuously reach the end- maybe a legendary or exotic engram chest at the LH?

Or bad players could just I don't know.... Git gud.

I got 8-0 today and got switched

Matchmaking could take longer...

4 OdpowiedziAlthough your idea is sound, bungie will never change trials due to streamers.

Edytowany przez użytkownika WeaponizedSoup: 10/4/2016 1:02:00 AMI could care less about the skill. First the cheaters need to be looked into. So much stress testing is going on and the insane part is people are getting away with it!

9 OdpowiedziThis would defeat the purpose of the lighthouse. Osiris wants guardians who never lose, not guardians who only never lose against people at the same skill level, and for the record I've never been to the light house. One day I hope that will change but I want it to be because I was good enough to get in, not because the game gave me a handicap.

You have to completely rewrite everything and even then, how would you determine he match? What if I have the most flawless runs out of my team, does it base it with me? Would that be fair for them since they aren't decent players? Do you just use someone with a good record?
-
1 OdpowiedźImplementing skill on ToO still won't get rid of cheaters, lag, Internet crap, cheap strategies and etc. And plus people sweat enough in trials, now adding skill into the mix will make people try way to hard in a game mode that yes should require a tiny bit of skill but still should be fun and exciting to play. People tend to forgot that Destiny is just a game. Nothing more and nothing less.

4 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika Erijian: 10/3/2016 9:26:05 PM9-0/1/2/3 = Go to the Lighthouse 9-0 = Access to the items in the chest Baddies can get their Grimoire, while Adept weapons or Ornaments on gear can still retain their prestige. Easiest solution in my opinion.

10 OdpowiedziTrials shouldn't be made easy like this, if you enter it you have to face any you are put with. If you want the gear you can't go in the junior league, that's iron banner honey

Maybe read your script before posting. It makes it easier for you and those reading :)

Brilliant! Should have had true skill playlists from the start.

That would be so broken it isn't even funny

4 OdpowiedziToO should also try and be more skill and thought based than regular elimination. Along with SBMM I've thought that if they restrict how much you're allowed to use something, it'd increase the amount of people who enjoy the gametype. Note:not increasing flawless runs, although if it's more fun to play, it might encourage people to play more and then increase flawless runs. Here's my ideas, feel free to criticize and comment: You get one super per game. That's it. You get it at the start of the game and it doesn't recharge, how you use it is up to you. One grenade and one Melee charge per round. No recharges. If you have more than one slot they can carry over through rounds. Special ammo spawns on every third round played, no matter the score. It is one clip for whatever weapon you're using and if you switch it does not retain the ammo. It does not carry through to the next round. Heavy ammo spawns on every sixth round played, no matter the score. That means theoretically a team could play a game of trials and not have heavy ammo spawn. Same rules as special ammo. If ammo types are given, they are given when the round starts, ensuring everybody gets ammo. No crates. Spawns switch. I'd prefer if the maps had a more playlist style rather than just one map a week, but that's more of a preference thing.
-
I agree, and I'd like to see a coment from bungie on this
-
*Goes and gets work done for a few hours, comes back 80+ replays.* Well -blam!-... I'll get back to what I can.
-
I wish game mode for trials wasn't the elimination. Skirmish is a lot better alongside with rotating maps every week ( maybe you play on x map until x win type of stuff ) elimination is a horrible game mode imo for destiny

4 OdpowiedziA team of highest 371 should not be figuring a team of OC 380s

Honestly, why not. I don't have a problem getting flawless but too many people bitch about it.
