With the newest update, I have now won the past 8 of 9 sniper encounters I have had in the Crucible (and WITHOUT using the Sorta Sniper Killer aka Mida). And those 9 encounters didn't include the times where the sniper actually RAN AWAY! Gone are the days of the frontline sniper tank (with the exception of really skilled snipers)
In all seriousness though, this update was needed. Snipers are SUPPORT. Not tanks. They should next to never be winning head to head gunfights against scout/pulse/auto rifles. Now, I understand they have to have some benefit as remaining completely hidden (like a sniper should) is impossible with scope glare and radar. They should and need to be a threat...but not game breaking.

The damage decrease is a little much. Out side of that its ok. Not real diffrence. But since they nerfed damage hope we get some ten shot snipers now.

3 OdpowiedziAgreed. When I am sniping or being sniped at snipers should be able to be challenged. The update for crucible is good but likely negatively effected PVE. This change to sniper flinching should not effect PVE as much as it does in PvP. My take on the subject.

1 OdpowiedźSnipers were never game breaking. Skilled snipers, lag, and aim assist is what made them seem game breaking. I bet if they lowered the aim assist on all snipers to 30 not including the aim assist from scopes or perks, I bet that would have changed the skill gap on snipers a lot. I find myself enjoying the low aim assist snipers a lot more because it's more challenging to use and feels more rewarding when you get those quick snipes. The flinch takes some adjusting to, a little much however. It made it so snipers where no longer a competitive option. This isn't BLOP's or Halo or Battle Field so why should the mechanics be the same.

If people use sniper rifles "as intended" the lens flare won't matter unless the sniper stays in the exact same place and if the target isn't looking at the sniper. Being able to run and gun with a sniper should have a big risk for that one shot kill, so knocking the aim around at pulse/auto rifle/hand canon range is a great idea.

But yes, it's nice when you get the drop on a sniper... that you can't burn 3/4 of his or her health only to have them still hard scope dome you. The guy that quick scopes and pops my head deserves my respect. The guy that eats a clip from my Monte Carlo (without moving out of ads) and still gets me with his sniper? That's some bullshit I can't stand... It feels like I lost to destiny not the other guy. Edit for: words gooder.

13 OdpowiedziI just wish that shotguns can actually go back to their roots as a defense weapon. If snipers were sent back to their roots as a support weapon, then shotguns should go back to being defensive weapons.

Every damn time a patch is dropped "snipers suck now", "shotguns are op", "they killed autos", "fusions are useless", "whatever super is op". It's the same shitty posts patch after patch. 2 years of complaining about every damn detail is so old. I mean do you really need a math equation explaining aim assist, or bloom, or bullet drop? Or the percentages of damage compared to last week. This is a video game, not a scientific experiment supplying a cure for cancer. Just enjoy the game. Please.

5 OdpowiedziBased upon a stat of 8 out of 9 I'd think it is safe to say the nerf may have gone too far. Winning 70+% of battles against them doesn't seem balanced or good. Before you start crying I have a sniper equipped etc. Yes I do but I mostly use my primary.

3 OdpowiedziNow they just need to (without nerfing anything) make primaries other than TLW a bit more reliable when trying to counter shotgun warriors. It's too easy to quickly close big gaps while ignoring bullets to the face. Primaries should be primaries.
