I AM NOT FROM THE US!!!
Why do people have to explain everything to you in this place
So I've been playing Destiny with two other guys regularly, for a while now.
One of them I know from the 360 days, back in HoW and the other has been off and on for a while, but became a steady team mate this last spring.
I play with these guys daily. We chit chat about everything and nothing. We also live in kind of the same general area of the country.
Last night we finally met up and grabbed our first beer together. It was so strange to watch.
Here's this kid that just finished high school. Then there's this tall skinny dude in his mid 20's and a 32 year old man. Sitting in a bar, talking for 3 hours straight. Laughing and teasing each other about stuff from a video game. If anyone tried to eavesdrop they would not be able to make out what the -blam!- we were saying. So funny.
I had never met them before in real life, but like, as soon as we saw each other we just started yapping on and on. It wasn't like "Oh I've never seen this person in my life. This is awkward". No. It was like we were in party chat being business as usual.
A great evening and I think we bonded even more.
There, just wanted to share this with everyone :) Destiny is so much more than just another video game.

8 OdpowiedziI haven't met anyone I know from this game in real life, played with a few people who live in Maryland though. Maryland is where I live.

6 Odpowiedzihow does a recently grad high school student get a beer in a public bar?
-
Love it mate, thanks for sharing. I'm part of a small clan in Australia (about 15 of us) but we are spread throughout the east coast. Would be great to catch up but the distances required to travel are too great. We use Messenger as our clan communication tool which is great. We talk massive amounts of crap on it, and hang shite on each other, it's all great fun.

2 OdpowiedziI'm glad it worked out well, meeting people off the internet can be a bit of a gamble nowadays. Sometimes you make lifelong friends, sometimes you end up dismembered in some psycho's freezer. Experiences may differ
-
My fireteam lives in Canada lol
-
I've met 2 people irl that I've been friends with online, the thing is that we lived in the same city
-
I wish I could hang out with my friends online but they all live in different countries
-
The only member of my fireteam I've ever met I met before we started gaming together. sadly the rest of our gaming friends are sows out to far for any current attempts at meeting

1 OdpowiedźThats interesting and a very good post on your part. Not just destiny, but a multitude of games we met some cool people on. Me for example. Once I have played with someone ovee quite a bit of time, I eventually have them text me on my actual phone. This is cool because we can all text each other now and not worry about Xlive, unless you got Smartglass. Society is changing radically. Long before we could met up with someone and chit chat and be on our merry ways. Now, a mission to wipe an ontological being results in a few beers down the street and THEY LOVE IT. I've only met two people from online, but I have conversed with several through our phones, text messaging. FB helps to break the ice. We all get nervous meeting the person you've played with for years. Just remember, they are your friends. Online or not, you share experiences in your favorite thing to do. So remember, when you see this person, you are their friends through experience. So don't be an ass when you met your online bud and its not what you imagine, we're all people after and use different mediums daily to commuicate, gaming is no different.

5 OdpowiedziLove these stories. When I first started dating my wife, she would read Final Fantasy 7 walkthrough while I was playing. We celebrated our seventeenth anniversary last week.
-
5 OdpowiedziThat is awesome! One of the many reasons that I love Destiny. All my real life friends stopped playing Destiny to play Warframe. ):
-
I found out one of my coolest friends lives 30km away. We met twice and it's weird, but also so cool! Both of us are going to meet another of our great friends next month, but that will require an airplane. We're very excited! Great friends made in Destiny!
-
I have met mine as well. Im leaving in a week to go spend four days with them. Best use of vacation time
-
I've been playing off and on with a friend I met back in Halo 2 days, over these last 3 years Destiny had brought us closer, we had the same like minded attitude last summer, exactly a year ago he asked me to be a part of his wedding which was in northern NY. So I did what any normal person would have done I accepted his invitation and flew half way across the country to be there on his week of his wedding.

1 OdpowiedźId love to meet my fireteam. We're to spread out for 1 meeting though. Some on the west coast and some on the east coast. All while im on the gulf coast lol
-
1 OdpowiedźSo we need to nerf fusion rifles right
-
This is what every game does... I've met more people playing halo then any other game though... COD comes second and then destiny but other then Facebook friending people I haven't "met" anyone from destiny irl yet... I blame this due to lack of matchmaking in important events and also the fact that you can usually only play with 3 people.

8 OdpowiedziI'm only 12 and I also just love to meet up with 30 year old men I meet online except usually not at a bar more along the lines of dark alley/basement sort of deal it's great fun...
-
Flew out and went to Disney land or world, whatever one is in California for a day with my og raid team, still play destiny and just about everything else together and plan to move in with 2 of them when they come to canada lol. I knew one of them from the 360 days years before destiny came out but I wouldn't have met the other 5 without destiny
-
That's really cool dude, good for you.
-
Great story! Thanks for sharing. I hope to meet some of my Xbox friends IRL someday. Fortunately, I have a few friends IRL that play Destiny (one is my neighbor across the street)! Destiny has definitely enhanced our friendship.
-
Same here bud! Met two of the guys I've been playing with since yr 1. Would love to meet the last member of our Fire team, but he is in Canada and we're in the US. Still it was nice to meat 2 of my Fire team IRL!
