That is to say, Destiny is the most sophisticated and ambitious FPS PVP ever developed.
I look at COD and Halo as glorified games of tag. They're fun as hell but most guns are usable and Everyone pretty much has the same character. Kills come easier, etc.
Destiny makes you work for kills. The time to kill is just long enough to give you an ulcer.
Between the classes, sub classes, weapons rolls, armor builds and skill tree preference, a player can be radically different from their opponent. It's a very rich and dynamic experience.
Not to mention the fascinating science that goes into the way the guns perform. The guns feel alive. They have personalities. We're attached to them. We love them as much as our own children.
This isn't a diatribe of my musings on the topic of the crucible. I'm just giving some credit where it's due.
We're pretty damn lucky to have Destiny at all. Not to mention that the crucible is the best PVP ever.
ALL THAT SAID. I'm fully aware of the red bar curse. The infamous and and favorite Tefty topic: the dreaded net code. I am fully aware that the lack of dedicated servers greatly hinders the potential of what is already a fantastic game. I get that there's always an OP weapon, subclass or ability.
I'M INTIMATELY AWARE OF THE NEGATIVES OF THE PVP EXPERIENCE.
But all of that crap mentioned above will someday be remedied and put in the past forever.
That's not the hard part. Creating what we now have, this utterly sophisticated, game changing evolution of the multiplayer experience was the hard part. Conceiving it and building it was the mountain Bungie had to climb. But they did it. They delivered far more than just a glimpse at the future of FPS PVP. They almost nailed it on the first try.
So why do we complain so much about PVP? Wouldn't it be worse to see all of the ways the game design could be improved? To be totally disappointed by what could have been?
I think so. I'm content because dedicated servers, a polished net code and 60 fps are on the way. This game will someday play like Jimi Hendrix did the guitar.
We need to remember that. We need to remember that Destiny is already Jimi Hendrix. He just needs to refine his style a bit. It's like, 22 year old Jimi.
That's such a far better position to be in than if Destiny was nowhere close to being Jimi and was more like the guy from Nickelback. You can't fix nickelback. You can fix 22 year old Jimi Because the law of inevitability says that 22 year old Jimi will someday become the legendary Jimi.
So be grateful Bungie's on the path of inevitable greatness and maybe complain less about the same issues that they too despise and are hell bent on correcting.

What do you mean "the time to kill is just long enough to give you an ulcer". Are you saying it is shorter or longer than usual. Because I know halos ttk is longer and cod is shorter I think

Doesn't stop laggswitching

That was beautiful

7 OdpowiedziThere are way too many issues with this game to call it sophisticated. The fact that it uses some kind of bastardised P2P for servers, which in turn gives those with the worst connections the advantage, means that most of the time you don't know what kills are down to skill or lag. Couple that with some shady game mechanics which allow for bullets to get you through walls and i would argue that sophistication is the last word i would think of when Destiny is mentioned. I can't comment on a game like Battlefield 4 on console as i have never played it on anything other than PC. Not to mention upon its release it was a a bit of a mess. Now though, the game is so much better and you also have the freedom of dedicated servers which can be policed by the clan that runs them. No issues with lagging players and as an admin, you could watch a suspect player and kick and ban them, if a ban was necessary. No such ability with Destiny, and having to wait for Bungie to do something about the issues is a foolish waste of time. And lets face it. What can you expect from a game that took 12 months to develop?

2 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika JuiceAKAJBizz: 7/31/2016 8:40:03 PMSince primary weapons damage, range, accuracy, ammo, n perks got nerfed it totally changed PVP and the pace of play is so slow...so many primary gunfights end in draw w one or both players taking cover and or fleeing... primary weapons are pretty much used to teamshot n clean up kills...or chuck a grenade n finish them off...u can't kill a sniper w one after nerfs and all a sniper has to do if they miss a headshot n body shot u (167 to 181 damage) is switch to primary n 1 bullet kill u...snipers never had this amount of time to do that combo... So many hardscoping snipers now too since a primary weapons can't kill them quick enough n if they get hit the just take cover...w radar they have no threat what so ever except being sniped.... Best combo in game is universal remote and sniper...2 special weapons...or last word n sniper... I think primary weapons need buffing and snipers need more flinch... Year 1 was fun and it wasn't like call of duty... Nerfs have killed PVP...still fun but damn year 1 was incredible... And one last thing...destiny said they don't want balance...they want every weapon to have there time as meta...like what the...huh?

What you sayin about nickleback?
-
9 OdpowiedziI disagree, it's not sophisticated in the least. Chaotic and unnecessarily complicated definitely, but I'm not going to confuse the word sophisticated for that. Though it probably would take some delusion to do so.

5 OdpowiedziNever enjoyed a single halo, Stopped playing CoD since they added the boost jumps, battlefield is way to slow paced. So this is the only good fps I'm left with

28 OdpowiedziQuit lying to yourself. When you can press a button to slam the ground in a one mile radius, instantly killing opponents in thy radius, spawn with a one shot kill weapon, use "exotic weapons that are overused and overpowered, that's not a balanced game. Don't even get me started on the amount of target acquisition and aim assist that game has. Obviously you have no clue what makes a game competitive and balanced if you think destiny is more competitive and balanced than halo or even battlefield/CSGO. You get better as you play those games. You suck at first, but get better over time. In destiny, you can be good as soon as you get in, which is stupid because it shows how overpowered weapons and abilities are and unbalanced the game is. The game baby's you. It's pathetic. Funny thing: my friend bought destiny a week ago, played for a week, a couple matches a day. He didn't drop below a 1.0 k/d and had an average of 4.0. Tell me, how can he be so good at a game that takes skill if he's a noob? Also, please explain how 50% of his deaths were to TLW and Mida? metas RUIN the competitive experience. It's so damn casual. I can see why you like it, but you're a -blam!-ing dumbass if you think it's better in any way than halo, CSGO, and BF. It caters to casuals and yes it does make you feel good about kills but you don't earn them like your like you do. You press a button and get a kill it's truly stupid.
this is coming from someone with over 25 DAYS in the shithole/addicting hole known as destiny
2 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika Mar: 7/31/2016 8:18:10 PMyou are not wrong about the potential for the PvP to be insanely rich and dynamic being huge, sadly the majority of people have gotten into a rut of min/maxing nonsense and all go for the exact same 3 subclasses, same loadouts, same weapon rolls, and same tactics. i would make a "this is why we can't have nice things" joke but it makes itself with the topic. the people playing the game make it dull, they take all the choices say "screw you i'll do what i want" and proceed to do the exact same thing as everyone else to the point its all because almost the same thing every game. last time i played crucible (last iron banner) every match was the same. besides a few people and myself everyone was either void walker warlock with shatter grenade (and the exotic gloves), blade dancer hunter with blink and arc bolt grenade, or striker titan with juggernaut, and pulse grenade. all using the same weapon loadout (midia multitool/hacksaw, conspiracy theory-D/ thousand yard stare, qullim's terminus/elulim's frenzy). and all either combo'ing shotguns and grenades, or sniper camping. i don't care that people are using w /e they think is the best, but its getting stale and boring. but instead of doing the smart thing using what people want to use instead of what is "best" (even though its only the best by a % that might as well be negligible) they go to the forums and scream for the weapon of the week to be nerfed... making things worse... and bungie can't help but listen, i mean thats the feedback they are getting. and with so many people using it they have more than enough data to, in their eyes, justify a nerf. its a giant circle jerk of a problem... sadly i don't see it ending unless bungie either makes a clean slate with a new game or intentionally buff / nerf / rebalance (yes there is a difference) unpopular weapons that no one is using in order to break the cycle. personally i don't see either happening.

7 OdpowiedziI have never played a game that the devs destroyed more and more with each balance update until Destiny. On top of that, I've never heard of a Triple A FPS game make content obsolete so you have to buy the dlc to get move forward with your experience. It's less of a DLC and more of a subscription. Not saying CoD is a good game, but DLC isn't required there. It just keeps it alive for people.

Destiny PvP is a broken joke. It has been since launch. Endless nerfs, glitches, lag, latency and cheating. OP is drowning in Bungie Kool-Aid... we've all been there.
-
Agree completely
-
2 OdpowiedziThe biggest thing about Destiny PvP? No RAMPANT cheating. period. every other online game ive played has had GIGANTIC problems with hacking cheating aimbot etc etc etc this game is very clean and well maintained in comparison to ANY other online game. yea things happen then Bungie squashes them likle little spiders that sneak into your bathroom and they flush them down the toilet.

4 OdpowiedziThe way I see it is we complain about it so much bc we care so much about destiny and want it to be a better experience.
