It's a neat offer to celebrate Destiny's 2nd year and Bungie's 25th anniversary for giving to charity and for playing their games content. Your Moments of Triumph rewards are the 2 shaders and 2 emblems from the book, the shirt offer is optional.
I'm not sure if you guys understand what The Bungie Foundation does, but let me help enlighten you.
*prepares overused typical Destiny poster spoiler*
-They donated over 1,000,000$ that was raised through sales of the 'Pride of Nepal' shirt/shader sale to the Direct Relief fund.
-They granted over 30 Make a Wish wishes for ill children in 2015 alone, and they've been granting wishes since 2001. Ranging from room remodeling, top of the line spec gaming pc's, studio tours, and even a home DJ studio.
-The Bungie Foundation also has programs in partnership with Seattle Children's Hospital in where they provide iPads to the entire inpatient unit and the child specialists, providing iPad's to the Autism Center to help these children play games and connect with others, and upcoming programs oriented towards career and workforce preparation. (They are also partnered with 9 other organizations as well)
-All profits from purchases made in the Bungie Store in 2016, will benefit The Bungie Foundation to continue their efforts in helping children who are suffering by providing entertainment.
Now I've read quite a few posts with people saying some really nasty and snarky remarks about how it's a 'marketing ploy' to get your money because Bungie's greedy, blah blah, but I'm not going to point any fingers or call out names.
Instead, I hope the few of you who posted those comments read this, and really reflect on yourself and your character. This shirt isn't just a cash grab, its proceeds go to an awesome cause. It's a reward for those who have vested their time in Bungie's game who are willing to give their 30$ to these children who are unfortunate enough to suffer from terminal illnesses and handicaps. The best part is, is any profit from any purchase on the Bungie store on ANY item is going to The Bungie Foundation. But.. too many of you are too quick to jump to conclusions without researching the topic.
So before you go rushing around and spreading negativity, put a little thought into it. The world would be a much better place if we gave a little more to each other unconditionally. Consider this more of an incentive for a good cause. I hope some of you buy some Bungie loot, even if its only the 15$ pins. If they had a link open for a flat out donation, I'd still give.
I'll wear my Moments of Triumph shirt with pride knowing that my money went to a good cause, I may even buy more of the items I've been eyeballing knowing that the proceeds will be used in this manner.
Hope this clears some of these perceptions up. Who else will be acquiring the Triumph shirt or some Bungie merch to benefit The Bungie Foundation's cause?

Edytowany przez użytkownika YummerBummer: 7/8/2016 7:10:25 PMDang dude. A nice, positive post. You didn't even be extremely negative to the nasty commenters. You just told it like it is without the use of insults. Nicely done. Edit: Just went through some comments. Man, people try their hardest to find bad thing in good places. :/

It's easy to be an ass over the Internet, being nice is harder when you have to deal with said asses.

1 OdpowiedźI honestly thought it was a cash grab and would've continued thinking so... if not for your post.

1 OdpowiedźI agree with you. Its crazy to me to see how much sarcasm and cynicism has taken over anything internet. I end up feeling like many on message boards would prefer to argue their cynical thoughts so they don't have to do anything like donate, or volunteer mostly because they fear someone is profiting, or using it to make themselves look good. Thank goodness I don't have to live in a head like that.

2 OdpowiedziI very happily made purchases from the Bungie store. I have loved playing video games throughout my life, and looking at the causes supported by the Bungie foundation, have zero qualms about my money going to this organization. So what if it gives Bungie a tax credit, they are still making a decision to support those who are less fortunate, and we as consumers are making decisions on what to use our money for. I have truly enjoyed my time playing destiny and am looking forward to the products I purchased. A comment has been circulating around claiming that very little of the money goes to support the actual cause, most of it being used administratively. While this can often be the case, look at the foundation's website. Bungie uses the fund to support very valid organizations, and once the money is in their hands, Bungie is not really at fault for what portion of the money is used for what. As well, many organizations do have large administrative costs that need to be addressed. It is hard to have enough staff, and people do need to be paid for the services they provide. These are non-profit organizations, but that doesn't mean that the employees are by default overpaid of greedy. There are many charities that do incredibly beneficial work, and that are very worthwhile to support. There are many, very public, cases where donated money is used improperly, but this shouldn't dissuade people from trying to help the less fortunate. TL:DR I happily purchased from the Bungie store to support the foundation and believe that this is a personal decision, and people shouldn't be steered away by people trying to claim Bungie is disguising a self-serving act as charity work.

21 OdpowiedziI'm probably one of those people you're talking about but that's not exactly what I mean by it. If they wanna give us the opportunity to donate to a charity, then do so like they did with nepal. Don't try to play it off like it's some reward for our efforts.

Now that my account is fixed I'll be buying mine when I get home

1 OdpowiedźThanks for this

1 OdpowiedźFor those of you who are questioning the charity, look up their form 990. The leaders get no compensation from their time and they donate the vast majority to kids in the Seattle area.

Edytowany przez użytkownika E x i l e D: 7/8/2016 6:08:01 PMGood post, and nice clarification for some people I'm sure. I ordered my shirt yesterday and already knew it was towards a good cause. The kids deserve it.

3 OdpowiedziGreedy assholes helping people wtf Bungie...

Tbh even if they didn't have the shirt if donate about 10 dollars (college and phone and apartment bills prevent alot of donations) because I wan a be both a guardian helping live in destiny and in real life. People nowadays are just asking for cheese to go with their whine and they can die a horrible death of being steamrolled over legos

12 OdpowiedziYou do realize most companies are frauds with charity deals. They keep more then they give of what they collect. Notice how every retail company seems to do these charity events now, especially during xmas time. I wish i was rich so i could take dumb peoples money and party even harder. Whats even more sad is it takes people to get something in return for their donation. This shows they really dont care about the charity. They just want the stuff and can pay the higher price. That being said bungie might be legit with its charity events but not all the money is going to the charity as the shirts gotta get paid for to be made. Paychecks gotta go to the employees that organized the event, etc. Only bungie knows the truth of where and how much of the money gets donated. Now do you understand why people get salty about it??
