While looking at posts of hive weapons, specially ones that we use, I started thinking about Nechrochasm, and its three stages. (I spent the better half of an hour making this, then stupidly miss clicked so sorry if this is less thought out than it could be.) The Husk of the Pit’s upgrade, Cannibalism, says “The Husk exudes a sense of sinister satisfaction when used to expire it’s former allies.” Now I believe that Husk of the Pit is powered by a worm. To further back my theory we will go to Eidolon Ally, then back to Husk.
Eidolon Ally says that “We thought it was inanimate but it has grown…changed. Ghost refuses to analyze it further but I secretly believe it has become my friend.” In the lore currently the only see a worm larva in Oryx’s dad’s familiar. The white word would talk to him, and he even called it, a friend. I believe in order to feed this worm we need to kill hive with the weapon. the part where the worm is being fed is showed by its changing and growing.
Before I move on the Nechrochasm and its importance to my theory I want to discuss what the worm might be saying to us. In TTK we get a sword. Also within the expansion we become ascendant in hive rankings. They’re two ways of doing this, establishing a line of tribute and improving your sword logic. I think that Husk has been whispering things like sword logic to us since dark below. With our sword logic being so powerful, along with our worm, is why Necrochasm has this quote.
“Eternity is very close. Can you feel yourself slipping?” Our eternity is close because of the killing and sword logic the worm has been collecting and teaching to us. We are slipping into our thrown worlds every time we die, but our ghost revives us before we enter.
Edit: I forgot to include the Crux of Crota, and the Embalming Orb. I don't believe that the Crux is Crota's worm for this reason, the Embalming Orb. Their obvious visual similarities (the fast they look the same but with a different color background) Now the Crux's inscription is "Their god is now our power," would have it seem that it is a worm... but in the context of the theory, their gods power/knowledge is already ours from the whispers. The crux only feeds the worm. The Crux and Orb, are the same type of orb that Eris Morn has.
Edit 2: I saw one or two people thinking that I should include touch of malice in this, but i don’t have it because I never completely did the raid (or got all the fragments). I had to look up some of the stuff about the quest and weapon. I hope you enjoy the extension of my [growing] theory. The quests aren’t really important so I’ll move on. The quote for the weapon is "Let them feel every lash, every curse, every touch of malice that they dealt to me." - Eris Morn, Which shows how the weapon was named, but lets take a step back.
I was looking around at some of Eris’s dialog and she talked about how it was our choice, to make the weapon. Now why does she give us a choice? I found that popular destiny Youtubers reached the same conclusion as me, and if you care about lore you have already seen them so I will just focus on how it relates to my theory on “light-throne worlds” and our secret knowledge of the darkness.
I believe that Eris warns us about making the weapon because it allows Oryx to live on in the material world. At the end of TTK we see Oryx thrusting himself into the deep.
I think that the core of Malice is part of his power/tribute. It wouldn’t surprise me that the core will become bigger once the heir to the taken throne is elected. I believe that we strengthen our secret sword logic by have oryx’s tribute so close to us.
Well thats my theory on Nechrochasm, tell me anything I missed or got wrong. Please bump this if you enjoyed. So after about 30 hours, this post has been at the top of trending for the better part of 26, I can't believe that I have this much support on something I made on a Friday night. Thanks to everyone who read and contributed to this theory. (I know that Touch of Malice isn't related to Necrochasm that much, but I still wanted to continue with it)

So what you're saying is, there is a family reunion going on in my vault right now?
-
2 OdpowiedziIn my opinion this and the vex myth should be bought up to year 2. Make the raids relevant.

I love your thought process. Adds some much needed significance to a weapon that was deemed obsolete far too early on in its existence. Well said sir.

8 OdpowiedziI got my first crux the second week CE hard mode was out. I cussed bungie a gazillion times because the piss poor ability of the gun. I wish they would have fixed it, but they never even mentioned it. Bungie chose to make the ball at the tower glow instead of fixing the "Necro-only reason primary ammo synthesis are around because that yellow bar knight is going to take 20 magazines to the face, probably better off using your fist-Chasm". It would be great if they brought the Necrochasm back and made it more powerful than the rifle from the beginning of the game. Bungie finally gave necrochasm some attention the same week they made it useless. Pure brilliance by bungie standards.

3 OdpowiedziWe can't have a throne world.

2 Odpowiedzii like how people call weapon with stability they can't control "bad" now a days any weapon you can't get stability perks on is considered "bad"

7 OdpowiedziThis makes me wish I had the necrochasm. Never got it sadly

10 OdpowiedziI have necro it's cool I guess, pretty weak tho
-
8 OdpowiedziIdk why they need to bring this gun back it was just absolute garbage
-
I want them to bring back this gun and the raid tied to it.
-
7 OdpowiedziThey REALLY need to bring this gun back. It was and is still my favourite Auto Rifle in the entire game. Plus we do not have a single exotic Y2 Auto Rifle in the bullet hose archetype. The Necrochasm would fill that gap perfectly! (And no Fabian Strategy perk does not count because it is a perk and also because that gun is garbage anyway). BRING BACK NECROCHASM!!!

7 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika Nerin: 7/3/2016 10:37:02 AMI think all hive have "worms" within in them and is how they evolve from thrall to knight/wizard. For example it says that the lower class pays tribute to the upper class i.e. Thrall to acolytes and acolytes to Knights. They do this through killing and sometimes they gain a surplus after killing for so long and "evolve" into the higher class. The hive gods are where the majority of tribute goes to so that they can grow and be sustained as they have the largest worms. Nechrochasm is a hive weapon and is like the Touch of Mailce which has oryx's worm while the former has crota's.
this is all stated in the books of sorrows with the exception of the touch of malice's source of power being a worm which is a pretty commonly believed theory.
1 OdpowiedźThe lore on touch of malice is even crazier though and can extend this theory. You should include it
