A question for anti-last gen players....
First off [b]I THINK DROPPING LAST GEN IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO. BUT,[/b]
Why are you being SO RUDE to the people on last gen all of the sudden?
I play on PS4 and PC. I have the current hardware. But I'm not on here assblasting last gen players!
The second they announced that change I was happy because that means we'll probably get more vault space, but I knew it would turn into a civil war on here.
Be understanding. We are all human beings and there is no need to be so rude to people who might not be excited about dropping $400 for a console, $60 for Destiny Legendary Edition and then another $30 for Rise of Iron.
Give people a break. If you see someone complaining about it, just ignore it, no need to kick them while they're down.
Guardians need to stand together instead of yelling at each other over which plastic box plays our games.

Some of the backlash has been pretty juvenile and cold. Personally, I am in support of dropping last gen since it will allow Bungie to [i]hopefully[/i] fully utilize the power of the current gen systems without trying to make sure all features and options also work on 11 year old hardware. A lot of the harsh animosity may stem from the fact that last gen owners feel so entitled to all new content as if they weren't playing on obsolete consoles who's life cycle ended over 2 years ago. While they may have their reasons for keeping those consoles and not upgrading to current generation, that is their decision (whether by choice or circumstance) and basically demanding a Developer to continue to support their system is ridiculous. Bungie has supported the last gen far longer than a lot of other companies. It is unfortunate, but the gaming industry is moving forward, not backward.

People have hated last gen for quite awhile, actually. Usually here about it every DLC . Also, welcome to the world where the vocal minority becomes the most annoying so people think it's a larger group than it is. Most people are just saying "Sorry, but you had to know this was going to happen at some point", which isn't condescending, it's just stating the facts from countless updates saying the have to remove stuff to add things for last gen, and they don't have the space for some things, and the fact several cross gen games have already done this. It's been 3 years, if it was something you wanted, you'd budget and plan. If it wasn't high on your priorities list, then it wasn't high on your priorities list, but coming up with excuses is just fanning the hate filled flames. Just accept it's not important and move on.

1 OdpowiedźXboxone is now only 299 and destiny is on sale with games with gold so you can get all of destiny and rise of iron for 70 so with tax youre spending 400 total then if you trade in your legacy console that will get you around 50$ in credit anywhere and say you have 5 games thats another 20$ in credit so all in all youre only spending 330 after tax. So thats 20.65$ a week or 3 dollars a day im not saying it to be mean but there is no excuse why people shouldnt be able to upgrade by that time. given everyones circumstances are different but if you want something bad enough you work for it and get it. You sell something you can live without or do some odd jobs around the house (for you younger kids) (also for kids if youre upfront with youre parents about wanting a new xbox or ps and say you will do x number of things for 3$ a day im sure they would support you in that) thats just my thoughts on the matter

10 OdpowiedziI am a PS3 player, and of course I was pretty disappointed to hear that Rise of Iron is going to be current gen exclusive. I knew that it was only a matter of time but I thought I'd have till destiny two to make the jump. I am a high school student and don't have any consistent source of income but I've sucked it up and have started mowing some lawns to try to get the $430 dollars for the expansion. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing that we are dropping last gen, but just cut us some slack, we may be a little bit upset that we have to cough up that much money for a game we all love!

I'm not anti-last gen. But I get upset when last gen players sit on the forums and make a federal case out of Bungie dropping support for their decade-old hardware. I'm anti-entitlement.

I agree with you ! Thanks for posting a reasonable and friendly thread ! Its refreshing ! ----- I have played Destiny since the Beta, all this time, non-stop on the PS3 - I have had no reason to upgrade. Except that the online network support of the old gen stuff on the PS3 has been atrocious at times (I imagine the 360 is similar). I knew when Destiny 2 came out that they'd be ditching the last gen - that was pretty clear; anyone on the 360 or PS3 who didn't think so was only fooling themselves. I was getting ready for fall (Destiny 2) - when we all learned that the sequel is pushed back - but Year 3 is still here. The old gen is 10 years old - and its time to move on. I have a PS4 now, and I will be getting the game for it when Rise of Iron comes out - until then I will be playing with my clan and friends on PS3 - some have already moved to the PS4. There are many current gen games I will be playing in the mean time. My point ? yes, we all knew this was coming - Current Gen people can cut the crap and not post smarmy and conceited posts. Some people can't afford to just pay for a PS4 - or x-bone... but we've had a loooong time to save up for one and plan for one. Its time to step into the current generation. Old Gen needs to stop laying blame on Bungie or current gen users.

For people to be upset that the destiny expansion that's going into 2017 and kicking off year 3 isn't made for 360/ps3 may be annoying because it's almost common sense. With neo and scorpio on the horizon (although neo isn't much better than ps4, it is still technically higher performing and definitely newer), ps4 and x1 are "technically" the previous generation. It's just common sense developers will stop writing for 360 and ps3. In 2017, that's like writing a ps1 game when ps3 is the latest model. Again, to complain about Rise of Iron not being written for ps3/360 is more of, "What did you expect? You knew this day was coming?" As far as players having to buy Rise AND ttk which they already own is crap. For players who own destiny and ttk, Bungie should have a voucher program where if you bought a ps4/x1 between July 1 - Sept 19th, they will sell Rise of Iron with a voucher that has a code to download destiny vanilla and ttk for free. You just need to send a copy or email an electronic confirmation of a receipt of console purchase between those dates.

I think the "rude" comments you're referring to are made due to the frustration caused by some of the post from the last gen gamers. It's not like the XB1 and PS4 released last week its been 3 years at this point if you don't have one its because you didn't want it. Every console generation goes through this process a new console comes out and their is a period of time where both consoles are supported. This dual support is usually until a sizable portion of the gaming community has either moved over or until gaming companies do not feel the profits from supporting said previous console generation are worth the cost. While some of the post against the last gen players are over the top the same can be said about the post from the last gen players complaining.

1 OdpowiedźI agree it's a very odd time to make the switch. This is probably the last dlc before destiny 2 which would have been a nicer transition point to newer hardware. I really do hope they give an upgrade incentive at least on destiny and ttk and have to buy just the new dlc. Not the new dlc and old for $60 I mean the old stuff free. The old upgrade program needs to be put in place on the Xbox and PlayStation stores specifically for this title. What was the reason again? Vault space? Ram? I didn't follow why it happened just saw the backlash. I'm Xbox one but could easily afford said upgrade but work too much to get more than weekend binges in on destiny. Who are all of you people with good money and good playtime I can't seem to make both happen lol.

1 OdpowiedźHere's the thing: 1. If you're a working adult, three years is plenty of time to save up money to buy a new console. Everyone knew it was coming. 2. If you're a kid whose parents buy your stuff, its up to you to earn some money because you probably don't pay anything to live with your parents, so everything you'd earn is spending cash. If I was a parent, I would just get my kid the new console, but that's just me. It sucks, but we're talking about 10 year old hardware that should've been cut at the 5 year mark the way technology grows.

The reason we're upset at last gen players is because they are trying to get Bungie to continue supporting last gen. If the're campaign is successful, then this game will not reach it's full potential. Current gen players are excited to see what Bungie can do with the current hardware when the obsolete hardware isn't holding them back. It should be pretty amazing. I have a few people on my friends list that will be left behind for now (some are irl friends). So I'm trying not to be heartless, but they need to upgrade. The old systems are old. The new systems are getting old, 2 years and 6 months, thats a third of the way through a normal consoles life cycle! This needs to be done, and it needs to be done now! So, if someone doesn't understand why their old console isn't going to be supported anymore, we might get a little bit descriptive. We might get a little angry. We might seem like a-holes. It's because we are protecting the future, and their laziness shouldn't get in the way of the future. I'll put it this way: If they had saved 50 cents every day since the current gen launched, they would have a current gen system. Or, if they had saved 13 dollars a month since the current gen launched, they would have a current gen system! I have no sympathy for them. (For those of you paid bi-weekly, it's 6.50.) Pick up another shift at work. Mow lawns. Sell your old system and games on Ebay. Don't go out to eat. Go join the current gen!
