Come on Bungie. I played challenge mode yesterday 3 times with different groups of randos ranging from 315-320. It took each group about the same amount of time and we reached around 30,000 as our score each time. Two out of the three fireteams didn't communicate at all (no mics) and the third group barely talked unless it was joking around.
There is no reason why this extremely easy content doesn't have matchmaking.
The only thing people need to know is that:
1. You need about 5000-6000 score by the end of the first round.
2. You need 15000-16000 score by the end of the second round
3. You need 30,000 by the end of the third round.
4. Each time you complete a wave shoot the boss.
5. Shoot the boss as much as you can until they have a sliver of health and then really try shooting for points and ignore the boss until you reach your goal (or until Variks start subtracting points).
Edit: I just completed my 10th CoE run. All with mostly different people ranging from a 310 squeaker to a 322 master. Little to no communication at all. It is not needed. Matchmaking should be added to just this endgame activity.
Edit 2: Lots of you point out that if there is matchmaking then there will be AFK players. Again, you do not have to use matchmaking. I am proposing that it is optional. It will still be in your best interest to play with friends or look on LFG. This is just for people who maybe can't find anyone to play with. It at least gives them a chance to play the game they paid for.
Edit 3: I would also like to note that I have yet to wipe on any of the 10 CoE runs I have done. 30 bosses with no wiping. Heck, I've only died a few times as well.
I hope Bungie doesn't look at this and go, "Oh, it's too easy. Alright then. We're nerfing points earned and adding more difficult modifiers." Just don't do it Bungie. It's nice to have easy content.
Final Edit: (sorry for the wall of text)
I also noticed that a lot of you mention the fact that, "oh, I can solo it so it doesn't need matchmaking." That doesn't even make any sense. How would adding optional matchmaking to CoE negatively affect anyone who doesn't decide to use it? What does soloing have to do with anything?

1 OdpowiedźNo matchmaking option is the ONLY reason I stopped playing Destiny even though I liked it a lot, but I find it annoying having to go to my laptop/cell phone to look for other strangers that I can easily do by selecting an option to match with others within the game. Case in point, a recent game that I've been playing a lot lately and that I enjoy without the frustration of not having matchmaking, is The Division, I've matched with strangers with mic, no mic, who know what to do and even don't know what to do... but I still enjoy the experience, without having to go to a third party to find others that want to do the same activity as I. P.S. I only mentioned The Division as an example, because is the only game I'm currently playing that I can draw a comparison in relation to the current topic.

3 OdpowiedziIt's a good fast way to solo for quick loot. Playing with randoms would double the time

Yeah I hate having to come here or other places to look for a team. Sometimes it takes a while to find people. I'd rather just be matched in game with people. Would be quicker and less of a hassle.

All endgame activities should have optional matchmaking. For those worried AFK kids, realize that it is not only easy for bungie to detect and kick AFKers, but it's also doesn't take them long to realize that high endgame activities like CoE will likely take three people. It doesn't take three great players, but it does typically take 3 warm bodies behind the controllers, so it won't take long to realize that they're not receiving any reward for participating since it will never complete.

3 OdpowiedziWas there matchmaking for 32, 34, or 35? No...so stop complaining.

I agree. If I want to feel pain with PUGs, give me way to found them in game, not on 3 party sites.

Signed. Two- manned it today with my 306 warlock after I got an invite from a 320 hunter in the tower. Was fun. A pity, that there is no matchmaking for this activity, especially as it takes less time than the normal mode. Would do it from time to time, just to mess with some bosses...

You think all the challenge PoE are gonna be as easy as Precision kills? If the bonus is from something like melee, it will be considerably harder to get a highscore. For example for grenade, voidwalkers and sunsingers would be favored for their abilities. Precision kills are a really easy killtype, and if there's melee without brawler or grenades without catapult, it would be harder.

Ok, people keep bringing up mics. There are mics in crucible, but basically, just fireteams use them & still non-mic'ed teams win. So, here could be a possible solution. When you make matchmaking optional, also make it so you can go either in a mic'ed matchmaking or non-mic'ed matchmaking. Set it up in that screen like how we used to be able to set up differing difficulties. If you have a fireteam, it would not even be an issue.

I totally agree bump

Yes each activity should have optional match making. However, this weeks challenge is easy to do solo.
