... they need to be given shot package back. Being a person who mainly snipes in PvP but has plenty of time with shotguns, I think I have a pretty good opinion on what's going on between shotguns and snipers right now.
Personally, I think that shotguns are way [b]too weak[/b] compared to snipers right now. However, [b]that is not to be confused with saying that snipers are too strong[/b] right now. The only thing I believe really needs to be addressed about snipers is the amount of flinch there is when getting hit. There's definitely not enough. There are way too many situations I've been in where I think I have the upper hand on a sniper because I'm gunning them down with a primary and still yet they manage to headshot me. So that, in my opinion, should be addressed.
Now, on the other hand I just think that shotguns got hit way too hard by the nerf they got when Year two began. Using my rangefinder/final round/max range Party Crasher +1 was fun in Iron Banner yesterday. However there were so many moments that should've been guaranteed one shot kills, and yet they weren't. So I think Bungie needs to do two of three things. And those are to give us Shot Package back, boost the range on shotguns, and increase the handling on all shotguns (let's face it, using a shotgun feels no different than having a machine gun in your hands and it's kind of ridiculous).
Those are my thoughts on shotguns. What do you think?

1 OdpowiedźShotguns need a nerf. Especially the Party Crasher +1 and the Conspiracy Theory D. The Chaparone ( I think that's how you spell it) is what needs a buff. It shoots slug rounds and a shotgun with buckshot has more range? Dafuqq???

24 OdpowiedziReactions to this seem pretty mixed. Shotgun range is always a controversial topic between "Felwinter's Sniper is OP" and "Bugg the SG range!" Thanks for the feedback, we will keep a close eye on all of the different opinions regarding shotguns.

Also neither are a one shot to the body. Both are a 1 shot to the head. One rewards you for playing the distance game, The other for playing aggressively. If you are a shotguner. You would never, and I mean never have any business in a popular snipe Lane. There r 2 types of snipers. The ones that camp and wait around corners, and the ones who can quick scope you point blank. If your facing the latter of those two your F'd either way. Now apply that exact same logic to shotgunners. Difference between the two? It's Much, Much easier to shoot some one point blank with a shotty.

For the last 3 months I have been running nlb/party crasher(or side arm). Honestly if you know how to operate within the range parameters of each they are both fine. I hate to admit it but maybe flinch should be increased slightly. But shotty range feels absolutely correct and should not be increased. I'll post a video from this past IB. Shotguns are trash right now. I don't even use them that much and there is a reason. Shoot, 30 damage per pellet, take one step back shoot 5 damage per pellet. Damage fall off is too extreme for me to even think about using them. If you cant knock them out with the end of the barrel don't even bother shooting.

2 OdpowiedziI've played a lot of PVP recently and there is no doubt that 1,000 Yard-Stare is extremely popular. I can't tell you how many times I've been head-shot'ed by someone with that sniper over and over and over in many different matches and it's started to get annoying, to be completely honest. It tells me that something is quite good about this sniper that almost everyone worships it. I mean, seriously, there are more than 40 different types of snipers in the game and, oddly, almost everyone uses 1,000 Yard-Stare. Why? High assist? Good handle? Whatever it is, it's "too" good to be good and I think it needs to tone down a tad bit to make it in the same line with other snipers. Honestly, I rather be killed by Queenbreakers's Bow, (although it's a Fusion Rifle, it acts as sniper), Stillpiercer, Hereafter, Icebreaker or even Tao Hua Yuan than 1,000 Yard-Stare. Ugh.

The ttk with primary weapons is too long for a shotgun with range. It would be damn near impossible to stop shot gun rushers and shot guns would once again become primary weapons. As it is now shot guns are for certain areas as it should be. You SHOULDN'T be able to just main a shot gun the entire match and Leroy Jekins all over the place getting kills. Edit: If you want more range, I dunno, how about play with a FUSION RIFLE or that too balanced for ya? That charge is on there for a reason to prevent the shenanigans that was occurring with shotguns before the nerf.

4 OdpowiedziShotguns require good movement skill and placement. They're not meant to be medium-range weapons, and since the TTK for primaries other than the Thorn/MIDA/DoP/TLW group is so low, it would make them unstoppable. Like you, I'm mainly a sniper in PvP, but I do use shotguns occasionally, and actually mained with them in TDB. They're just fine where they are. They're good in close range, especially ones with faster fire rates like Invective or the Patch-A. You shouldn't be allowed to use them as primary weapons, and that's a good thing. If you're gonna try to primary me with a shotgun, if I have enough time, I'll just burn you down. If I can't, I'll just run, bait you and throw a tripmine on your face as you walk through the door (lol). Also, it's a shotgun. Shotguns are not stable weapons in reality, and they don't need to be. They use buckshot, and it rips through anything within close-range of them. I do agree on the sniping idea, though. They should flinch a bit more when under fire that is legitimate damage, such as scout rifles or in-range hand cannons.

3 OdpowiedziThose shots that should've killed were more than likely due to your enemy having added armour on their amour stats for the elemental damage type of your shotgun. Nobody seems to think about that.

So quit begging for old crutches, enough with the crutches, any real player who's got skill doesn't need conspiracy theory or matador to go positive with a shotgun, if they can use the weaker style of shotgun and go positive they're a true shotgunner with skill, if not then they better be facing an enemy of high skill because crutches are so dishonorable nowadays, I mean lets face it, if you need a crutch more than to become better at the game then you are terrible at the game. Simple as that. Now I'm not trying to make you look bad but many in the game right now are not full of enough guts and not clever enough to find weapons that are uncommonly used and make them good to broaden the pool of weapons used in the meta that are good. The answer isn't in the past where our mistakes lie, it is in the present where we can change from the past.

1 OdpowiedźBump. Snipers are a problem in the same way Shotguns were. So why are Snipers not getting anything done to them? A shotgun should be able to kill more than melee-range..it's ridiculous that they don't. Snipers are being used in CQC and that doesn't make any sense. Snipers were never this much of a problem.

9 OdpowiedziShotgun should all get shotpackage built in. Make them reward precise aim. At the same time this would make it easier to balance as shotguns would consistently hit all of the pellets making it easier to adjust them rather than trying to balance them on their current inconsistent nature.
