Edit 4: Vault of Glass. Oracles. The third oracle on the left, or L3, also known as back left. The Templar also spawns there. This area is the same orientation as the Oryx room. Guardians spawn on one side, Templar spawns on the opposite. Yet the Templar is commonly considered to be at the back as well as those two "hidden" oracles.
Golgoroth. The first orb that everybody uses is the first one on the left (L1) compared to where you enter. Front left. The thrall and acolytes spawn at the back. Same orientation as the Oryx room.
Now all the sudden you get to Oryx and this logic is gone. Just pretend those pads are Golgoroth's orbs. The first one on the left would be front left. But why is the first pad (also known as L1) on the left widely considered the back? And the second one on the left (L2) is now the front? You guys aren't thinking clearly.
Original post: You walk in the room, you are at the front of the room. You move to the opposite end, you are now at the back. I dgaf where Oryx spawns. I am not Oryx. Plus Oryx moves around the room so you can't always call him the front. Its also not the front of the Dreadnaught as you can look out the BACK and see the dreadnaught keeps running out for miles.
Prove me wrong.
Edit: When you play pvp, the enemy team spawns on the other end. Is that end the front or back? It's the back.
Edit 2: "In front of you" and "the front of a room" are two entirely different definitions. The front of the room is always a set area that is always there no matter where you're looking at. It has to do with the architecture (Oryx is not part of the architecture he is a living thing in the game world). Whereas what's in front of you is different depending on which direction you're facing. On a baseball diamond, the back is always on the opposite end as the bat catcher even though its always in front of him. If he were to look behind him or even to the side, the back of the diamond is no longer in front of him, but its still the back of the diamond.
Edit 3: Why is everyone comparing Oryx's room to a classroom or a theatre? It is not either of those. I'm not going in there to learn anything and I'm not going in there to watch a movie. You don't even need to look at Oryx, he is not the focal point. The majority of the time you actually do have to look at him is when hes at the side. Plus he moves all around the room. Last time I checked the screen at the movies didn't move around, and Oryx wasnt a screen that displayed movies for people. If you played the raid from the get-go and had no idea where Oryx spawned, you wouldn't be calling that side the front. You'd be calling the side where you come in the front. And true story: people called entrance side the front before people started calling it the back. You guys only twisted it with flawed logic. Front and back of rooms are based on the architecture (like a movie screen or a chalkboard). No piece of interior architecture in Oryx's room indicates saturn side being the front. The back of a room can still be "in front" of you but that doesn't mean its the front.
Secondly, you can't be looking at the overall ship. We are inside the ship and the ship has rooms. Oryx's room may be the bow but we are still inside. It is a room, there is a ceiling, one wall, and support columns. Rooms have defined fronts and backs. Usually the main entrance is the front, in this case, the only entrance is the front.

No, we are not doing this again. Muted.

Imagine going onto the bridge of a crude ship. There is a long wall of windows, two shorter walls of windows, and a solid wall that you just came out of a door from. Where is the front of the bridge?
-
Are we really on this again?? Oh and who the hell had to name the oracles? Just use your damn eyeballs and say oh an oracle and shoot the -blam!-er. I hate this over complicating of video games thing.

2 OdpowiedziIt's black and blue.

Oryx comes up from the front of the Dreadnaught, therefore he is in the front.
-
Are we really arguing about this again?

1 OdpowiedźYou can see Saturn in an opening at the front of the dreadnaught. The front of the dreadnaught is where oryx's throne room would be because that's where you would usually "drive' it at. thus front left is the platform immediately to oryx's right. every other instance you are describing are completely enclosed. Oryx's throne room is not. thus, rules are different.

This shit again? Who doesn't have this stuff figured out by now?

1 OdpowiedźWell...that's just, like....your opinion, man

Who cares just do what you're supposed to

Doesnt matter anymore, if you still callout front or back then you are doing something wrong
-
Where is the room you fight oryx located in the dreadnaught. Use the correct term.

The only reason front vs back matters is to communicate with other people. Since the majority of players refer to the Saturn side as the front and the door side as the back, in an effort to communicate with them, I will do the same. It's not a question of which is right or wrong.
-
The room is presented to you so that oryx spawns in the front. You walk into the back of a hallway and walk to the front.

4 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika TheLastSeabass: 2/23/2016 7:18:14 PMYou walk into a classroom and there's a bunch of rows of chairs and on the other end of the room is a chalkboard where the professor teaches. That's the front. You walk into a stadium you are immediately at the back. That's why they say, "down in FRONT." You walk into a concert you are immediately at the back. That's why your seats are so cheap and the FRONT row seats are the ones you can't afford. Because they're in the FRONT. So when you say that you walk into a room your are at the front, you are clearly mistaken. You are also not on my fireteam because no matter the correct definition, it's conventional wisdom that matters anyway.

1 OdpowiedźYour bottom edit actually explains. The people in the ship refer to the front of the ship regardless of where they are. It's called a point of reference. The front of the ship is always the front of the ship. It is the way the engines of the ship push it. To go in the opposite way they go in reverse. Which is backwards. They don't say well the door to the engine room is in the back of the engine of the room so the engines are in front. So if I wanna towards the engines I go forward. No. The front is the front always. Second this is the most ridiculous wall of text based on semantics I've ever read. Who cares. It's a point of reference used to communicate easily with teams. But. You prolly haven't had an old fashion in a while so you don't have to ability to go with the flow.

technically it could be both, and it entirely depends on ones opinion.

8 OdpowiedziSounds like you're not paying attention to the people trying to prove you wrong. Your first two sentences are wrong. The front and back of a room is not defined by where you enter it. The focus of attention is usually what defines the front of a room. The screen in a theater is the focus of attention, so it's the front. Doesn't matter where you enter. If there is no focal point, then the definition of front and back is more fuzzy. The back of your garage is always opposite the main doors. This seems to be more inline with your definition but it doesn't hold up in all cases.
-
Thought this was already resolved. Saturn side, door side.

ops friend: lets sit at the back of the theater for the movie *op sits in first row closest to screen* ops friend: ... op: im sitting at the back like you said really it is where everyone's point of focus is but besides that instead of complaining on forums about how people can't read your mind, just state before the battle starts what things will be called
