So yesturday we had one space free and someone joined our group and messaged us saying he was deaf but knows what to do. Everything went smoothly and at the golg challenge, we gave him gaze 5. Once gaze 4 was ready we waved for him to take the gaze. As I said everything went smoothy and I am glad we gave him a chance.
....
Wow this really has blown up. Its nice to read everyone's experiences. Just to add for the critics, I have not had past experience with deaf people before, so as I had a plesent one, I wanted to share it with the community.

2 OdpowiedziI raid with deaf people all the time. Sad part about it is that they can hear just fine.

You're lucky. I just spent 6 hours of playing to defeat the last boss oryx. It took me 2 hours to find people. And then in the next 4 hours, we tried to figure out a strategy but maaaaan was it painful, painful, painful. The runner couldn't make the jump. Sometimes people weren't fast enough to kill the ogres. Nobody was fast enough to put enough damage to oryx core, or even kill the echo of oryx. And sometimes people go (that's fine) but the we either try it with five or try to find a 6th member... I wish I could join a hardcore team and just get this over with. This is my only wish complete a ducking raid, I don't even care about the loot.

Other than the deaf thing, they are the same. Just as smart and as capable as the rest of us.

Why can't the rest of the destiny forum be like this. Everyone is so negative these days it's nice to see a story like this. I have raided with a mute guy before, not as interesting as a deaf person by still fun!
-
Great job to you and the team!!! Pretty cool you gave him a chance
-
Dude that's dope! I haven't had any experiences with a deaf person on Destiny yet, but I hope to have a positive experience like yours if it ever happens!
-
We have someone in our clan that is deaf and is seriously one of the most skilled and nicest person I have ever met. Before my time, our clan leaders had to explain every fight and position and kings fall took I think 7 hours the first time. That's a lot of explaining! Anyways, this person is a very solid 320 and we rarely ever have to point or wave or anything no matter what we are raiding. It did take me awhile to realize that person was never in PSN Party(voice) and never did any call outs. Just goes to show how much the PS4 community for Destiny rocks and cares about its' players when it matters!

Did my first Croat run with 3 English and 3 Spanish speaking players. While difficult we used bullets and pointing to get through.

3 OdpowiedziNice! I can't imagine how difficult it would be to play Destiny as a deaf guy. I know from experience that it can be pretty stressful as an autistic guy but that is nothing compared to being deaf.

Yeah its good to see someone being positive on here! Great read man! And nice job!

1 OdpowiedźI also have helped a deaf player through a raid. The vault of glass. It was a person on the forums I had met. I invited him to do VoG and he told me straight up, he never done a raid before because he was deaf and can't hear the other players. He said he didn't want to be a burden to anyone. I reassured him it would be ok and explained how each encounter works through detailed messages on PSN. The other people in the raid were my friends. So once I explained the situation, they didn't mind and was glad to help. Overall the raid was challenging but we got him through it. When we killed Atheon, he was so happy! He sent a message and said got the Vex Mytho and what was it? I explained it and he was very happy. He thanked me for all that I done. End of the story.
