This one gun causes all of PvP to imbalance
Contrary to what everyone thinks, snipers are not the biggest issue in PvP. Yes they have high amounts of aim assist and people are pulling off snipes that are kind of ridiculous. But read below.
The gun that is causing this "imbalance" in crucible is The Last Word. Let me tell you why.
- Auto rifles cannot function the way they are intended. Every auto rifle is outgunned by TLW. And because everyone uses TLW, auto rifles will always be outgunned.
- TLW is better than any hand cannon in the game. The accuracy and range of hand cannons is still not where it needs to be. This forces a hand cannon user to stay more close quarters, and at that point, TLW can easily beat a hand cannon user. This makes hand cannons obsolete.
- There are a lot of snipers out there using TLW. Why? Because TLW can be used practically as a shotgun as well as be effective in close to medium range engagements. Nothing can beat it.
- Think of this game without TLW. Would it work? Would more people use auto rifles and hand cannons? What about fusion rifles? The game would change dramatically if they nerfed TLW and you will see much more weapon diversity. TRUST ME.
By the way. This Valentine's Day doubles playlist will be messed up. Thorn will be everywhere. I'm calling it now.
Edit: Some people have called me out as a complainer and to stop asking for nerfs. I just want to say that the problem with TLW is much more apparent at higher ranks because there are much more people who know how to use it. People with lower skill will see much more weapon diversity and can actually use their hard light or whatever other weapon they want because the chances of facing someone who knows how to use TLW properly is much lower. Every trials match or skirmish match I play is against people who use 1kstare and TLW. They lay back and snipe. And as soon as you get close to them your fked. I can do the same as them, but is this in any way fun?

It depends on range tbh, and situational use, but I don't think the blame can be put on one gun. The trouble is that with similarly skilled players, a small advantage makes a large difference, and there are a few guns that provide this: High impact snipers compared to low impact. There should be a larger benefit to using low impact snipers. Shotguns: conspiracy theory d with rifled barrel and range finder. No more said. Fusions suck ass. agreed that it is way OP, but my Doctrine can beat it many times, many times not. Just depends on the lag in that particular match, and also the range of the gun fight. If they are close, I will lose.

Untrue - It is still Snipers, by in large the only ones that use Last word are snipers. Snipers dominate at long/mid range and beat every other weapon by miles at these distances. Most snipers just hang back in the pre determined traffic lanes. The last word saves them for the extreme up close. If snipers were not as good, then these same people would die far too often to Pulse/Scout primaries and that would force them to get in close more where shotty users can nulify last word people. However as long as you can snipe with such ease and control the game at range the last word makes the perfect complement but if sniping was much harder and people with ranged primaries could win a higher % of gun fights then the sniper would be in less demand more people would go shotgun and a ranged primary. hell they really need to gimp snipers and then boost Fusion rifles, I tried using that IB fusion and its just awful they don't have enough lethality at mid range consider you have to be accurate with them and they fire so damn slow.

There is some sense in what you say. I was thinking yesterday: Sidearms should never be outgunned by any primary while inside their optimal range. However, TLW beats sidearm every time when two skilled players meet 1v1. That should not happen. It's the same with all fusion rifles and all but two ARs (Doctrine and Arminius). TLW wins every time. The only circumstances where those two ARs beat TLW are when TLW misses shots. Either TLW needs a nerf, or all HCs, ARs, FRs, and sidearms need a buff. If you nerf TLW, the average time-to-kill will stay the same it is now. If you buff everything else, TTK will go up.

while TLW is is great gun and very powerful, I dont think it is as OP as you are making it out to be. I use doctrine of passing and i outgun TLW very frequently. Grant it, it is very hard to outgun TLW at close range, but thats what it was made for. Thats like saying a covalance duty is OP bc you can outgun TLW every single time at long range. At medium range you need to strafe a bit and use some skill to beat TLW. HOWEVER TLW SNIPER PLAY STYLE IS FOR P****S and I can not stand it. Grow some balls and FIGHT ME. SNIPING IS BROKEN

TLW is fine. I own one and I don't use it much honestly. The range is a big tradeoff. Counter TLW with mida or any other good scout/pulse and you'll wreck them as long as you don't rush them. TLW is overused, not overpowered.

To fix the last word just make it so that you cannot ADS on the gun. That's why it does so well at mid-range. Even when watching competitive play, most people always use ADS on the weapon when it's not the "intended" use of the weapon

Crucible is about killing your enemy, with extreme prejudice, not kindness. The only thing imbalanced in crucible was the fact that only a handful of the hundreds of weapons made were good. The rest were junk. To remedy that, Bungie crapped all the good guns and now the 'viscous cycle' can't stop! Now, there will always be a 'stand out' weapon or category. They started by destroying whole classes, then selecting specific guns and butchering them. Now, they have a real mess and have no clue how to undo it! They moved to abilities and couldn't get that right. My suggestion: instead of calling for change, tell them exactly what needs to be changed. Exactly! Don't leave those completely incompetent weapon designers to decide how to alter any weapon! They can't tie their belt, and it has a buckle! Exact specs! As a group, we post the change we believe is needed. We post exactly what needs change and exactly by what amount. See if they can get it right with just one gun. Then they can apply logical change to the rest so that elusive 'weapon balance' may finally approach the horizon. Nothing is perfect, but, this category devastation we see must stop. It's ruining the game. I use pulse rifles. I f'king hate pulse rifles! I can't stand them. They make me want to break the weapon. They are only pulsed auto rifles, yet they devastate like auto scouts. Auto rifles only piss off targets, who then shotgun your arse to oblivion! It's ridiculous! We need to tell them exactly what to do. No more waiting for the weapon rebalance so we can start screaming again. How many rebalances do they need before you are all convinced they are idiots? Just start posting exactly what you think needs to change in a specific weapon. Hopefully they fix that as fast as the SRL Book!

Agreed. I was just talking about this in a group chat I'm glad someone expanded on it in e forums. Special ammo availability it a also a problem though because snipers negate TLW's weakness at long-mid and long range
