Maybe the underlying reason for the move is that Ryan resisted the push to micro-transactions and this is part of an effort by Bungie to more fully commit to it. Activision has been touting in its investor relations pieces that its business model is focused on driving player engagement (addictive grinding). F-ING CANDY CRUSH!) When I look at this model and consider what Destiny has done since launch, it seems to me that Destiny and thus Ryan may have been resisting it. Consider that most of the micro-transactions so far in Destiny have been cosmetic or at least have also been obtainable via gameplay. Also, the last few micro-content expansions have been free – the Haunted Mansion thing, Sparrow Racing and now the Couple's Crimson Massage or whatever the hell it's called. If anything, Bungie's strategy for Destiny seems to have been slightly out of step with Activision's business model even though Activision seems to have become more focused on this model since the launch of Destiny. So I'm inclined to think that this change is more likely lead to more to manipulative grindiness, less major content, and more micro-transactions rather than a return to the more straight-forward game+2 DLC release cycle. Time will tell, I guess. What is missing from Activision's strategy is the recognition that micro-transactions, P2W, grindiness will ultimately reduce the first goal which is audience reach. That is, the greater commitment that a game requires to complete in terms of time and money, the more it will- eventually - alienate more casual players and those without the budget or willingness to spend unlimited amounts of money. Destiny started out as a more traditional – buy the game, play the game, win the game – business model and has evolved to become more in line with Activision's "recurring premium player investment." To the extent that the "recurring premium player investment" has worked, it has done so in part due to the "bait and switch" nature of the change. Some of us casual started this game expecting 4 major releases, 8 DLCs over ten years – hoping and believing it could be as epic a franchise as Star Wars - and so have been willing to engage in "premium player investment" but there is a limit as to how long that will last. Activision seems to be ignoring this dynamic and it seems like the move from Ryan to Parson is more likely to result more grinding, micro-transactions, and general nickle-and-diming, not less.

I see a lot of "hate" for the previous CEO in some comments, also, a lot of "cockiness" from others mentioning the fact that they just want to make money, capitalism and such. To the first group, calm down... To the second, duh!... Obvious Bungie/Activision are a company and want to make as much money as possible, we all work for a profit don't we?, but in order to make that happen in the entertainment industry you have to provide with an exceptional product, something the masses want to buy and enjoy. Right now, thats not destiny... Matters not how many hard core fans (I include myself on that) defend the game, we have to admit is simply dying... My list of ps4 "friends" has gone from 50-60 connected on destiny to 3-6... The content is getting worst, the lag is unbearable and worst... They just keep saying everything is fine. The old CEO only cared about money? Believe me, that's the top priority of the new CEO too. Because he answers to the Board of Directors, who make it their priority to care about money. Because the Board of Directors answers to the shareholders, who care about? You guessed it. Money.

How do you know he was fired? Maybe he was demoted. Maybe he has family problems and decided to step down. Maybe he has issues of his own. Maybe he got a better job offer. Maybe he found a new career. Or maybe he was fired but you don't know

The naivety is unreal in these forums. How long will it take before you guys turn on this guy saying he's all about the money ( hint: that's what shareholders require) and not about the gamers . Wake up please. CEOs don't make video games, they are in charge of keeping the entity profitable. Oh, before you state that if the gamers aren't happy, the money will discontinue, the money has already been acquired through your initial purchase ; the other items are for profit and operating cost. If that money would discontinue so would the game and then onto the next project. Now they can provide free items such as DLCs. I'm sure they have enough money coming in but they don't have to. Also the gaming community is very reliable when it comes to purchasing games. It's what we do. If we didn't we wouldn't be gamers. Food for thought

At best what can we expect, a turnaround for the better in the game in what...a year? No changes will be immediate or felt for a long time sadly.
