If you don't want to get in the friendzone, then don't be all timid and "friendly" when you approach a girl. Just go for it, and make it obvious when you first meet her that you're not playing around. Either she'll be interested back, and then you start a relationship or something, or she doesn't feel the same way, and you just move on, no big deal. Either way, you completely avoid wasting years of your life wishing you had her and never getting her.
