Okay, I've seen a lot of complaints that contradict each other. A lot of people call for nerfs to guns to PVP, and as a lot have said it affects PVE.
But I think the solution is simple: Seperate PVE and PVP.
When you think about it, the main developmental differences, and the reason people PLAY them, are so vastly different as to be incomparable:
PVE: People want to play against ai for various reasons. They want to be hard or be easy depending on their viewpoint. But it's not against a actual real life foe, so it requires less balance. Foes in PVE are harder then in PVP, due to the need to provide a chalenge.
PVP: Actual fighting with actual foes. Because of this the idea of it is to create a level playing feild. You need to be able to on average do well, because if it's imbalanced to one guys favor it's not fun for the other guy. Balance is the name of the game here therefore. Foes need to die the same and kill the same. Not EXACTLY the same, but they need to be similar enough that there is no frustration on either side.
When you compare the two, the philosophies and methods of play are quite different. If you focus too much on one, you destroy another. And you need to focus on both since both are a valid part of your game.
So I suggest seperating the two. I am not yet sure how however, and if you have any ideas on how to make it work let me know below. but I can provide in my opnion a good mission statement for seperation of them.
PVE: PVE should focus on the fun factor of the items. I'd say allow people to use more then one Exotic in PVE ONLY. Allow people to use weapons they want to use like the Gjallerhorn or Ice Breaker or Thorn. Give us foes worth killing and a story worth following. Update raids, POE, add all the strikes, and allow people to go nuts.
PVP: Focus on balance for PVP. The idea is people should feel on a similar level (Except for Iron Banner and Trails) ONLY allow one Exotic for armor and weapon like now. Balance the PVP versions of guns to a average PVP level of killing.
With the two modes seperated, PVE's can stop moaning about how PVP is runing their fun, and PVPer's can stop moaning about how the new OP meta is handing them their arse. Everyone wins.
EDIT: I don't want to be that guy because I hate when people ask for like, but if you agree with me please like this. I'm not just saying that for the likes or anything, but I saw Cozmo post he tends to look at the Trending/most liked posts the most so if you agree it would REALLY help this get seen. Also make sure to post your opnions and if you have any suggestions on how to seperate them. I can't garantee they will be read as well but you never know. DX
Edit 2: Before an yone says it is not possible,, remeber this quote from ChipRancero:
People brought this up since they were able to do this with shotguns (and then nerfed after making them very powerful in pve)
In case anyone missed what it means, he points out Shotguns were buffed in PVE but kept the same in PVP. Meaning THE TECH TO DO SO IS THERE.

Do you suggest a separate inventory for each or simply a "Create a class" screen per say? I like the idea though, but it would be a major change to the game and some people may not agree.
-
1 OdpowiedźThere is proof that they can actually do this, in some patch notes it read "increase damage done to AI combatants by 100%(2x)"
-
I wish shotguns range went further, and not melee range in pve only, and were way more stable. This is the future? Right? Wish pulse rifles were good again and autos were stable in pve.
-
Yeah, I hate getting res sniped while on Patrol by a trolling guardian, especially during Public Events. And what the -BLAME- is with people still using Gjallarhorn to kill me while defending a War Sat??? C'mon, guys! Minions of the darkness are the enemies, not each other.

1 OdpowiedźAgreed! My solution is not simple: make customizable loadouts that allow players to choose primary, special, and heavy weapons of any archetype and choose the perks themselves. The set of perks you can choose from would be purely for the crucible, and would be unlocked by ranking up in crucible. Additionally, base weapons would also be unlocked similarly, and getting to the point where you can choose legendary weapons would require higher rank. Each player has a capacity, and rarity of weapon determines how much is used. Example would be that to use an exotic weapon, your load out will only be able to contain 2 greens or one blue. Armor would be similar. Certain exotic weapons should be made strictly for pvp, the rest being banned from the crucible. Ideally there would need to be a crucible social area where you can meet up with your fireteam and make your loadouts and buy perks for your guns and armor before entering matchmaking from said area. A way in the character screen to set up crucible loadouts separately would also be necessary. In match, loadouts changes should only take place upon manual respawn, revives would maintain current loadouts. More like a pvp overhaul, but I think it would be absolutely better than current. Pve weapons should be ridiculous like ice breaker and gjallarhorn, but currently all exotics are lackluster and a bit boring tbh. Pvp should have exotics that have a subtle advantage, not drastic ones like tlw and the thorn did. They should be separate.

1 OdpowiedźThey should make a leveling system for PvP and separate characters and gear. Take the cod approach here. That way everyone has access to the same weapons .

1 OdpowiedźYes. Bump. This way they can balance the guns and subclasses without destroying pve.

2 OdpowiedziWhoever said I disagree go play another game.

1 OdpowiedźI agree with this.Like all of you,I've loved this game since day one.I play iron banner when it comes and I do the daily crucible, but am mainly pve.Its took a massive knock back since all the bitches, that are full on pvp cry baby's,have gotten their way.Heres hoping that douche Cozmo takes note.

Separate PvE and PvP? Man has been saying this since the dawn of civilisation, when the first hominid gazed into the night sky and pondered the great beyond, and the intellectual spark that would one day create videogames was born....And Bungie still haven't bothered!
-
It would be so easy, at least in my head. First they make the base stats for each gun. Then multiply the base stats by a number to make them do what they are supposed to do in each respective area. So: Shotguns - base range = x pvpRangeMultiplier = y pveRangeMultiplier = z Pvp shotgunRange = x * y ....Huh, perfect logical range for pvp. Pve shotgunRange = x * z ....Huh, perfect logical range for pve. Of course thats just in my head. Maybe that wouldn't work.
-
3 OdpowiedziThey can't. Stop asking.
-
I'm a supporter of it but It Will Never Happen. Bungie can do so, they just don't want to as they don't care about how PvP affects PvE. This is a PvP game, that is their first concern and making changes to separate the two would require too much work for such a small section(PvE) of the game.
-
Bungie want do that. You know why? They wouldn't have an excuse to make everything obsolete...
-
3 OdpowiedziI am a big supporter of the weapons and gear being separate in PVP and PVE. They can use the faction system to allow people who do PVP faction bounties to pay them in reputation and a type of currency that will allow them to buy new PVP weapons and gear. With higher rank in faction, comes better weapon and armor choices, also allowing these armors and weapons to have different abilities and levels of effectiveness in PVP. If they dedicated time to developing weapons and armor for PVP like this, people would spend the time to get them by doing PVP bounties and gaining PVP based reputation/currency. I think it would be good to also add that PVE gear in PVP would be significantly less effective than the base level PVP gear, however, gaining PVP gear does not restrict you at all in PVE. You retain any level of advantages gained by the PVP gear when used in PVE, it's only fair that spending your time to get better gear, that it not be rendered useless.

Beyond agreed on this. Huge bump.

Current votes shows the people agreeing at 300. Closest to it is no at... 19?

1 OdpowiedźIt's obvious that all of the cryouts for nerfs in pvp have made the entire game less fun. Even pvp suffers for it. But why destroy both aspects of the game? I have, and know of many many others that wholehearted have was yes this from the beginning. They need a separation of pvp and pve. It's absolutely necessary. Bungie Devs...get the -blam!- out of our sandbox anyway! I'm tired of equipping turds in all three weapon slots while you try to figure out what they pay you for.
-
1 OdpowiedźBump like a mother-blam!-er
-
1 OdpowiedźA good start for the devs is to stop nerfing things that go above a 1.0 K/D in PvP. Rather, put it between a 0.5 K/D and 2.0 K/D (possibly a wider range if necessary). Balancing shit out based off a single number only helps the devs. Putting a real K/D range into the game would help out the players (and that alone would cause less nerfs if you think about it).
-
1 OdpowiedźBump, I know they thought the ideal of carrying over weaps from pve to pvp was a good ideal but it's only partially a good ideal. As soon as players play pvp weaps should hit the same so that there is no need for balances. Meaning heavys should 1 hit, secondary's and primary's should kinda be the same.....kinda idk how it would work. Then playing pve everything should feel powerful And exotics should feel exotic again.
-
1 OdpowiedźThe problem is the philosophy Bungie has had from the begining. What you use in one activity you can use in another and it feels the same.
-
1 OdpowiedźWould be too hard for bungie. Hell they cant put decimal points in the right place.

Pvp rules. Pve doesn't stand a chance. One day all your guns and classes are gone in pve and you've no idea why. It's over. Stop lobbying. They don't care.
