This isn't just a nerf sunbreaker post. I feel that each of the new supers is ridiculous compared to the old ones.
Let's begin:
Hammer Of Sol:
- Reduce mobility significantly. No jumping, only walking or sprinting. Only applies to pvp.
Reasoning: Titans are meant to be tanks that withstand assault. Fist of havoc is built to shut people down. Ward of dawn protects an area. Hammer of sol should turn you into a killing machine that blocks off part of the map and lets no one out alive.
Stormtrance:
- Reduce the effectiveness of transcendence by 3 seconds.
- Increase the delay between blinks slightly.
Grenades:
- Storm grenade's damage is more concentrated to provide consistency and strategic play.
Reasoning: Warlocks are about zone control. Stormtrance wasn't super overpowered, but a slight penalty won't be bad for the crucible. For the most part, this will not impact Pve.
Shadowshot:
- Make suppression instant for targets that are hit dead on.
- Shadowshot arrows no longer track enemies, but aim assistance is increased.
Grenades:
- Vanish in Smoke is now affected by lockdown.
- Fixed bug where vanish in smoke would not activate.
- Envenomed disorienting effects are significantly reduced, but damage is slightly increased.
Reasoning: Aiming should be a skill developed by the player, so if the player has the ability to hit an enemy in an active super, suppression should be instant. Vanish in smoke is powerful, but would sometimes not work and would never be buffed by lockdown. This change also makes lockdown more viable for all playstyles of nightstalker. Envenomed smoke should be a proactive tool, not a reactive one. Enemies should be punished for entering the smoke with high damage, but if an enemy gets caught, they should have a chance to escape, therefore solidifying nightstalker grenades as defense mechanisms. Currently, envenomed victims have very few options as movement is slowed significantly.
Edit:
Another solution I like that is provided by BerserkOne:
Let me fix this for you:
Year 1 supers, and subclasses in general, should receive buffs to bring them up to the standards set by Year 2. To wit:
Voidwalker:
>Nova Bomb detonations in close proximity to the caster will no longer cause damage to the caster.
>To alleviate confusion, the buff provided by the Energy Drain melee ability has been renamed Syphon. The cooldown reduction provided by this buff has been increased.
>The Annihilate talent has been removed from the talent tree. The blast radius of Nova Bomb has been increased as though this talent were always active.
>Replacing the Annihilate talent is Disruption. This talent causes hits with Energy Drain to temporarily suppress enemy abilities. Selecting this talent will continue to provide the agility bonus previously associated with Annihilate.
>The tracking effect provided by Angry Magic has been altered. Nova Bombs will track a targeted enemy in similar fashion to the tracking perk on some rocket launchers, and will detonate when in close proximity to the target. This talent has only limited capacity to counteract the Nova Bomb’s ballistic drop off.
Sunsinger:
>The base cooldown rate for abilities while Radiance is active has been improved. The maximum rates have not changed. This makes Radiance somewhat less dependant on strength and discipline scores.
>The Song of Flame talent has been removed from the Sunsinger talent tree. The Song of Flame effect will now trigger whenever Radiance is active.
>Replacing the Song of Flame talent is Resonant Harmony. This talent grants bonus weapon damage to the Sunsinger and allies affected by the Song of Flame while Radiance is active.
>The Brimstone talent has been removed from the talent tree. The effect granted by Brimstone is now included in the Solar Wind talent, allowing the Sunsinger to "throw" exploding enemies.
>Replacing the Brimstone talent is Catalyze. Enemies receive the full burn damage from Scorch immediately.
>The Sunburst talent has been removed from the talent tree. (It's been deprecated by the addition of artifacts.) Replacing this talent is Paragon. Ability kills grant bonus recovery to nearby allies. This effect may stack up to three times.
Gunslinger:
>The base damage of Golden Gun has been increased to 500 (was 360). The damage drop-off over range has been significantly increased.
>The Combustion talent has been removed from the Gunslinger talent tree. The Combustion effect will now trigger whenever an enemy is killed by Golden Gun.
>Replacing the Combustion talent is High Noon. This talent causes Golden Gun to ready instantly upon activation.
>The Over the Horizon talent has been removed from the Gunslinger talent tree. The range increase provided to Golden Gun by this talent has been added to the Deadeye talent.
>Replacing the Over the Horizon talent is Desert Wind. This talent causes ability kills to grant bonuses to movement, sprint speed, and weapon handling. Selecting this talent will not provide any bonus to recovery.
>The Circle of Life talent has been removed from the Gunslinger talent tree. Replacing this talent is Honed Edge. This talent increases the precision damage dealt by Throwing Knife. Selecting this talent will not provide any bonus to armor.
>Throwing Knife will now deal Solar damage whenever the Incendiary Blade talent is active.
>The cooldown reduction provided by Scavenger has been increased.
>The armor bonus previously granted by the Circle of Life talent is now granted by Scavenger. The Recovery bonus previously granted by Over the Horizon is now granted by Deadeye.
Bladedancer:
>Activating Arc Blade will no longer cancel stealth.
>The Vanish talent has been removed from the Bladedancer talent tree. The Vanish effect may be used whenever Arc Blade is active by pressing the aiming trigger.
>Replacing the Vanish talent is Crippling Strike. Pressing the firing trigger causes the Bladedancer to execute a lunging uppercut that deals severe damage to the target and causes the target to take additional damage from all attacks (similar to the Sunbreaker's Melting Point talent).
>The damage dealt by the Showstopper talent has been reduced. Targets damaged by Showstopper are rendered temporarily blind.
Striker:
>Damage resistance gained while activating Fist of Havok now remains for a period of eight seconds after activation (what the hell is Berserk thinking?)
>The Discharge talent has been removed from the talent tree. The Discharge effect will now trigger whenever Storm Fist connects with a target.
>Replacing the Discharge talent is Charge Transfer. This talent causes kills with Storm Fist to grant a brief period of bonus Arc damage to primary weapon fire. Reloading or switching weapons cancels this effect.
>The Headstrong talent has been removed from the talent tree. The Headstrong effect will now trigger whenever Fist of Havoc is activated while sprinting.
>Replacing the Headstrong talent is Reactive Armor. This talent causes Fist of Havoc kills to extend the duration of damage resistance gained from Fist of Havoc. This effect may stack up to three times. Selecting this talent will now provide the armor bonus previously associated with Unstoppable.
>The Transfusion talent now also applies to kills with Fist of Havoc.
>The Unstoppable talent has been removed from the talent tree. The effect previously provided by this talent has been added to the Juggernaut talent.
>Replacing the Unstoppable talent is Wrecking Ball. After sprinting for a short time, gain an increase to sprint speed. While this effect is active, reloading and hip firing weapons does not cancel sprint. Selecting this talent will now provide the agility bonus previously associated with Headstrong.
>The base damage of Shoulder Charge had been increased to 250 (was 170).
>The sprint duration required to activate all sprint-related talents has been reduced.
Defender:
>Enemies caught within the radius of the Ward of Dawn at the moment it is deployed will now receive a significant amount of void damage.
>In addition to its current effect, Armor of Light now grants significant bonus recovery while the buff is active.
>The Iron Harvest talent has been removed from the talent tree. Replacing this talent is Singularity Manifold. This talent allows the Defender to enter a state of greatly heightened damage resistance by double tapping the crouch button. While in this state, the Defender is completely immobile. This state lasts up to six seconds, and may be cancelled by pressing crouch again.

I agree with all of the Sunbreaker nerfs except the jumping. They have to have a jump, without it, they are sitting ducks. Instead of removing jump, make the Sunbreaker heavier, they should fall faster and the boost jump would not hold them in the air as long.

Especially the additional exotics coming, that we should've had in the first place instead of this dreaded time-gated crap going on!

5 OdpowiedziI highly disagree for the HoS fix. Maybe decrease the time you have the hammers or give sunbreakers 5-6 hammers. Reducing their mobility would turn sunbreakers into maybe the weakest super out there.

1 OdpowiedźGood suggestions but thats going too far. There should ALWAYS be a risk involved while using your super. They should not be 100% free kills.

You are generally correct. Last year the hunter had about the only run the map killing everyone super with blade dancer so they made that type for everyone else but in doing so it kind of has things a mess as that ability to roam the map is just the only game worth playing if you want max kills per super and who doesn't. Kind of a shame. I don't know if they are over powered but it sure has changed the crucible a lot.

1 OdpowiedźWell i agree to everything exept sunbreaker. I dont think it should be slower but simply weaker. Not in carnage but in passiveness and damage resistance. So i would say reduce the time it stays active and reduce damage reduction from 55 percent to 50 as all other supers are. I think it would do ok.

Thank you for noticing senpai

2 OdpowiedziThe Hammer of Sol nerfs are dumb as hell and all these "geniuses" who keep calling for reduced mobility don't know what the hell they're talking about. If you touch the mobility of the Titan which isn't any different then its standard mobility, then be prepared to nerf the hell out of Blink and Ionic Blink.

Sunsinger > storm thing arc blade > tether striker > hammer

9 OdpowiedziHint: if your going to balance subclasses they still need to be fun to play. Your hammer of sol "fix" is horrible. No one in their right mind would play sunbreaker then.
