1 OdpowiedźHaha. Just stumbled upon this (nearly 2 mo later) and I absolutely agree! Drove me nuts trying to explain the mechanics to people and the entire party would get confused. However, because of many many MANY groups running it opposite, if had to compromise my belief. I do however agree with the toasters response, in part, of why it matters. Yes. If your team is competent it shouldn't matter, but when running people through it helps to label the room.

Oryx is feont

Oryx is in the black.

2 OdpowiedziDisagree. When you enter the final area and Oryx he spawns at 12 o'clock. I'm sure you will agree with that. Now that we got that outta the way let's move on. 12 o'clock would be north on a compass so that means he spawns directly in FRONT of you. That means he's definitely on the front side of the area. I know most people on these forums aren't religious but assuming you've been to church at least once you know you enter the a chuck thru the front door but once inside you're in the back of the church and the preacher is at the front. Hopefully this clears things up for you directionally confused individuals.

2 OdpowiedziDisagree. Oryx is the front and this is known by everyone.

1 OdpowiedźOryx doesn't spawn in a room. Oryx spawns in space. You fight him in an area that has a back wall, a roof and 3 open walls - I call that a veranda, not a room. The door behind you is the "front door" of the ship, but when you walk out onto the street from your house front door your house does not remain the "front" of the planet. The street is not "in the back". Just like any other large open area, concepts like front and back are fairly meaningless in space. There is no "front" other than relative to you. Oryx spawns "IN front of YOU" as long as you are facing him when he spawns. For the duration of the fight we therefore choose to assign that position as being the "front" of the veranda, though any side could be the front.... This way round is just easiest for most people to grasp and keeps things like left and right constant. It is important to remember though that it is just a temporary agreement and that there is no front in space. Unfortunately the people who think Oryx spawns in the back either need to only raid with each other, or accept that their perspective is not the majority view and utilise empathy to learn how others view the world.

5 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika JaykoBlanco: 11/18/2015 6:36:46 PMFront is where Oryx spawns. It doesn't really matter whether Oryx spawns in the front of the room or the back of the room, cause nobody bases their call outs on the room, they base them on Oryx' movements. When he spawns, he's in front of you(unless you're derping around). When he moves to the left, you call out that's he's moving left based on his movements, not his orientation in regards to front or back of the room. If we were calling the doorway the front of the room, then you'd have to face it when deciding which side is left and which side is right. And it would flip what is 100% accepted by everyone as left and right, whether they agree Oryx is front or not. To put it another way: If. Oryx is the front/north, then left=west and right=east. This left and right orientation is accepted. I've never seen any retard try to argue that Oryx is rotating right when he goes west. If Oryx was at the back/south, this would be the argument that you'd have to make(but no one is because it's ludicrous) You CAN counter this argument by saying that left and right are based on your orientation, but in that case, again, the room doesn't -blam!-ing matter, because it's YOUR orientation IN it that you're basing half your directions off of, why not the other half as well.

Oryx is in front, you can not compare the room to a house or a store, because it's more akin to an auditorium or even a classroom. This room is one of many in the dreadnaught and that is more like a house or store and when one is called to the front the classroom/auditorium, guess what? The chalkboard/stage (the focal point) is at the front of the room and the doors at the back, hence Oryx, who is the focal point in the room, is at the front.

Edytowany przez użytkownika DoT ManBearPig: 11/19/2015 7:01:08 PMHere's one more brain teaser, I'm curious what people will answer. Using the theater and stage analogy so commonly found on the forums, how would you describe someone standing at the very edge of the stage closest to the front seats (guy 1)? Now, how would you describe someone at the deepest part of the stage with their back against the curtain (guy 2)? I personally would say guy 1 is at the front of the stage, and guy 2 is at the back of the stage. Anyone see the correlation between this and the Oryx fight? Calling out the platforms would be the same, you have front platforms right by the door and back platforms by Oryx since he is at the deepest part of the floor area and is furthest from the viewing point.

The Oryx encounter doesn't take place in a room
-
Oryx is in the front.
-
Oryx is back for people playing in the southern hemisphere (Australia, New Zealand etc.) For people playing in the northern hemisphere he is in the front. This is because of the Coriolis effect and it's 5th grade science. Can we stop arguing now?
-
Oryx is the front (i.e., the focal point). So when you start the encounter the front is opposite the doors since that is where the focus is. Then oryx moves right or left...thus the front is now the right side or left side depending on his rotation and the doors are on one of the sides. Then he rotates back to his spawn point for mortars and that again becomes the front or focal point. After that he rotates again and the front (i.e., focal point) changes according to the description above.
its so simple...why are we even arguing about this?
-
No front..back is the door you came in.. If you didn't go backwards in that is
-
Oryx is pushing the ship from the front. No reason for him to be 90 feet tall and not do any work on his ship.
-
Do you do this crap in warpriest too?
-
1 OdpowiedźNo one on this planet calls the oryx spawn 'the back.' You saw someone else post this and saw all the attention they were getting so you followed suit. You're an attention seeking whore. Well here you go! Now get get your stupid ass off these forums and go be useless somewhere else.

this is how you spot campers: they say "oryx spawns at the back" I bet those people didn't know what counter clock means for two weeks.
-
Oryx is room facing towards the front of the ship
-
No. Oryx spawns in front (front of ship) and door is in back of room.

1 OdpowiedźI just see it like this. You walk into the arena. Obviously where you immediately are is the back. So he is at the front...I didn't realize this was a thing haha
