People bickering, saying that they are more skillful in CoD with one shot kills while others say skill comes from winning a drawn out fight in Halo, and these arguements have stretched into Destiny. But which type of ttk in gaming do you believe takes "skill."

#Destiny

Both take different types of skill. Map positioning, and map knowledge play a large part of both. Quick reflexes, load out selection, slow time to kill reinforces special ammo camping/under utilizing primary weapons, camping until heavy spawns and supers build. It is all personal preference. Personally my belief is recovery is too fast in Destiny to warrant slower time to kill, this combined with the crazy mobility in the game has reinforced a really boring game experience compared to the hand cannon meta. It is too easy to evade and recovery. Though, faster time to kill isn't boring.

A mid TTK. Rewards reaction time, awareness, shot placement, and positioning. High TTK makes awareness mean less and numbers mean too much. Low TTK is too twitchy and rewards spraying and grenade spam. I'd say battlefield would be a mid TTK with infantry combat.
-
It's not a straight answer. Low TTK focuses in reaction time and positioning, but escaping firefights and outplaying people is rare. Not to mention when you die in 2-3 rounds, aim isn't really a factor (2-3 shots to my leg for example) It also highlights the problem with connections. If you have a ping of over 100, you can kiss a good match goodbye. That being said, it keeps shotguns and snipers in line becuase of the TtK gap being smaller. High TTK revolves more around aim, rather than who fires first, but 2 and 3 v 1s are nearly impossible. It also allows for more diversity in weapons because not everything has to melt, and you can have some variety in TtK. Also keep in mind that if someone can tank 5-10 bullets, one hit kills like shotguns and sniper rifles become a problem. Each has positives and negatives, but my personal opinion on the matter is a mid tier TtK, with a great reward towards headshots and not spraying. It keeps ohk weapons in check. Lag isn't as big an issue. There can be variety in weapons where the fastest TtK weapons are not the be all end all. Engaging multiple targets at once is difficult, but possible and rewarding. Grenades are powerful but not ridiculous, etc. BF is a decent example. 4-7 shots to kill. Double headshot damage. Spraying won't help you. Limb shots do less damage. Powerful, yet avoidable grenades. Cover is useful, but not needed (because a headshot will melt you anyway). Sniping and shotgunning isn't child's play (I wouldn't say its too difficult either) Map design isn't clusters of corners. and so on. That being said, I enjoy destiny's slower TTk at times, and even CoDs melty TTK at times, it just the balance in the middle is overall best for me because it mitigates most of the problems.

1 OdpowiedźPeople are too quick to judge gears but it's way farther than any FPS in terms of skill requirements. Yes, many fights use shotguns, but that's only in certain positions. Other games, 1 gun will work in pretty much every position. In gears, you have to consider the power weapon you're fighting for, your teammates position, the enemies position, and the layout of the map. And that's just for judging what weapon to use. Shotguns in Gears take more skill and accuracy than any other game(not talking about the sawed off, I'm talking gb rules). Accuracy, movement, placement, and active reloads. People like to complain that it's TTK is too slow...so? Leaves more room for outplayability. Or, they say that all it is is a spray of shotguns, with no real accuracy required...yeah, go do that in gb. See how fast you go 0-5. Or, they say that "wall bouncing" and strafing are just a bunch of random movements....nope. Wall bouncing is a technique, and can be done in a variety of ways, but spamming a button won't do it. Strafing takes movement and accuracy. So, I don't think there's many FPS today takes much skill to be good at. It's just sprinting around, using one weapon, and not really bothering with position or placement of shots because the TTK is so high. But, hey. Nobody here plays gears competitive so I'm wrong.

6 OdpowiedziCOD is about knowing you positions and areas to kill them. Destiny is just who has the better hand cannon.

10 OdpowiedziEvery Battlefield excluding Hardline highlights this perfectly. You don't often have 30 millisecond kills. You plan them out. You take range and bullet drop into accountability. Tou take hostile force size into account. You take your current arsenal into account. You take the location of your allied forces into account. Suppressing fire actually works in Battlefield. Do you go in guns blazing, or breach the wall and kill everyone? That is the case with all Battlefields excluding Hardline which unfortunately is Battlefield:CoD with 20 millisecond kills. Kills in Battlefield often take a good amount of skill.

Well I have an overall 2.71 in Black Ops 3 and a overall 1.70 on Destiny. I'd say Destiny is harder but only because if you want to use your own load out and not what's currently flavour of the month, you end up getting destroyed most of the time, it takes the fun out of the game. Black Ops 3 is awesome though because everyone is using different weapons, I mean I nearly got a nuclear with a pistol today in hardcore, died at 27 kills, was a rush Destiny PVP has been abused as hell though what with Thorn/Last Word/Final round/fūcking grenades that seek you out. I really couldn't give a damn about anyone's skill on the game when it doesn't work for 90% of loadouts

12 OdpowiedziSkill isn't used in shooters. Aiming your weapons just right, and target assist does the rest. Destiny, all you have to do is aim for the head for a fairly fast kill. CoD, you need fast reflexes, which is a skill, I guess.
-
I personally like the faster times because I expect a high velocity piece of metal to kill you quickly with appropriate placement.

2 OdpowiedziSlower time to kill becomes more of a "dance" instead of a battle of reflexes. ~TheGreatNike

5 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika Angel of Verdun: 11/16/2015 12:14:54 AMIf its well designed, I would choose slow ttk but when the devs are retarded like destiny`s and put fast ttk weapons (shotgun) in a game with slow ttk, I would choose fast because is more balanced

1 OdpowiedźCOD: requires reflexes Halo: requires accuracy and movement strategy
-
Fast ttk you can take down multiple targets with skill and proper setup ,slow ttk it becomes more about who brings more to the gunfight and in most 2 v1 situations you lose. In games like battlefield I typically play hardcore mode because of this .Then on the opposite end of the spectrum Halos ttk is so slow it's very tactical oriented ,I think both have unique merits I just prefer being able to win 2 v1s more because of a fast ttk .
-
Fast TtK is about who sees who 1st, and that's where extreme camping comes in. I need to say anything else
-
Low ttk in a run n gun game is just a matter of reflexes so I find that to be incredibly stupid and prefer games like Halo 2/3, where you actually had to maintain aim for a couple of rounds. I'm perfectly fine with low ttk's in strategic map control games such as CS and R6 though.

Edytowany przez użytkownika Ethozz: 11/15/2015 11:53:09 PMHere's my thoughts on the debate: While fast time to kill (CoD type) is a bit easier, it makes your FPS instincts become better. Due to the fact that you can get shot pretty much anywhere on the body and still die within 1-2 seconds you must be aware of your surroundings at Slow time to kill (Destiny type) will test your actual gun skill and strategy. Since you don't have to worry about extremely fast time to kill, you can focus quite a bit more on things such as flanking, aiming/sniping, knowing when to engage in a gunfight, etc. Both types will help you if you actually practice and not give up after just a few types. If you want to become the best player you can be, it is essential that you play a bit of both

4 OdpowiedziSlower ttk takes more skill, but with that said, CoD still takes more skill than Density because Density's pvp is a joke.
-
They both require skill in different ways
-
Either can be skillful; games like CS:GO (low TTK) and Dota 2 (HIGH TTK) both require tons of skill. Granted Dota isn't a shooter, but you get my point.
-
Do you mean game style or actually time? Cod more reaction time and understanding "lanes" Where Halo is about multiple headshots, group dynamics, and map flow.
-
I would say faster. But COD has way too many headglitch spots so I'm gonna go with slower ttk
-
This is an argument that can be valid on both ends. There's no way to have a overall true winning in this. Being with a fast TTK you need quick reflexes and you need to be able to think on a momenta notice. While with longer TTK you can play a little more later back but you have to stay focused due to the fact that its all about out manoeuvering your opponent. In games like halo players are usually under cover a lot more and are constantly moving around the map. While call of duty fire fights tend to end quickly or someone dips out when they know their in over their head. So its an argument that can't have a true winner.

3 OdpowiedziTTK doesn't -blam!-ing matter if the gun sucks in every other stat. Removing AA and watch the K/Ds crumble.
Made you look
-
I used to be in the slow TTK equates to skill bracket, but now I just see it as people using extra health to run away from gun battles. In a game like cod, you have milliseconds to react and put down a target. If you can do this while getting shot, you're better than someone who can eat bullets and run away and fight another day.
-
Games like halo take way more skill than a game like cod. My friends that are terrible at shooters can get kills in cod and have no prayer at killing anyone in halo.

Faster time to kill basically shows how good a players's reaction time and situational awareness is. Slower time to kill shows how good a players "gun skill" is. This would include accuracy and evading. Both are important, but having a slower time to kill removes the variable of someone simply having the drop on you. Like in COD, someone can be aiming down sight waiting for you to come around a corner and kill you before you have time to react. They could do the same thing in destiny, but id say the person being shot stands a better chance.
