Halo 5 from a classic Halo lover's perspective

It's just [b]bad[/b] in my opinion. From a general gamer's perspective, it's fine. No complaints. It's well-balanced and hard work went into developing it. It offers a unique set of abilities, new dynamic game type, an interesting story. It's pretty generic; but most developers are currently hell-bent on making the most generic possible games, I shouldn't expect 343 to be any different. So those of you who aren't familiar with classic Halo and like the direction in which 343 is going, you'll love it. A lot of people are loving it, and they're entitled to their reasons why. From a classic Halo lover's perspective, it is the opposite of what Halo should be. Every aspect of classic Halo that worked and made it so glorious was swiftly abandoned starting with Halo 4. I'm not against new features being added to the game; I'n not against additions like sprint and reticle spread. Some new moves need to be made to keep the experience fresh. For example, Halo Reach was incredibly ambitious. A lot of bold new moves were made, but it worked. It was still Halo. The shit 343 is doing is completely wrong, and destroying the most fundamental aspects of Halo that give it its name. Halo 5 is not a halo game. It's generic. It's an insult to the legacy that is the original Halo trilogy. ads? That is not Halo. ridiculous and over-the-top abilities? that is not halo! climbing surfaces? that is not halo. The thing that makes halo unique is that different situations require you to be resourceful, and map designs governs that gameplay. The ability to ground slam, thrust forward, and climb on surfaces completely destroys the flow that halo gameplay used to have. Gameplay should consist of weapons, grenades, and one's fists. I like sprint, and I like reticle spread. But it should stop there. I'm ok with new weapons; they make the game more interesting and fun. I'm not ok with a complete uprooting of the game by ripping from it the fundamental aspects that made it what it was. pve worlds are completely unexplorable. Goddamnit, the classic halo campaign worlds were so beautiful and vast and all I wanted to do was jump all over the place and find shit in hidden places. It just doesn't have the same ring anymore. And the kill times! What the -blam!-? Multiplayer has horribly low kill times. It's like we're not even fighting spartans anymore. From Halo CE to Halo 3, the game evolved tremendously, but still remained true to its name; change in the game is no god excuse for the game coming to be what it is now. [i]Nowhere have I said here that I wanted a static experience. In fact, I said that that the game needs some change and evolution. So please leave the straw man at the door.[/i] edit: A few people so far seem to think that I am against people who like Halo 5. I am not; people are entitled to their opinion, and I'm just stating mine.
