So I've seen a lot of posts about how 1000 Y.S. is better DPS than B.S. However this is impossible: the black spindle effectively has an 18 round magazine that you don't have to reload. Over the course of firing all your special ammo, BS will get more damage done in a given period, eg the damage phase on Warpriest.
Seems to me the people claiming otherwise are just those that couldn't clear the final room on the BS mission...
Edit: holy fück 1000 comments, very mixed views...
Edit 2: I am talking about DPS here, not general utility. BS isn't made for being good in loads of situations, it's made for massive DPS on bosses and big targets
Edit 3: people don't seem to understand: I am only talking about DPS. I don't care that it's legendary/more versatile/whatever, I'm making a point that in terms of pure DPS, the best that TYS can do is come close, and that's if you have a perfect rolled sniper and armour.

1kys with mulligan and triple tap and max reload could out dps spindle if spindle missed precision shots
-
Probably cause they never learned how to use black hammer which is essentially identical except not as strong and not exotic.

3 OdpowiedziWhen you have a 1k-ys with maxed reload and the buffs to reload while in aura like i do, you out dps the bs ever time

I prefer steel piercer

Cuz it is

27 OdpowiedziHmmm...off the top of my head... 1000 Yard Stare is a legendary sniper with a ton of impact, it doesn't take an exotic slot, and it has a chance of rolling Firefly, the best damn perk ever created by God. Anything I missed?

4 OdpowiedziStrictly speaking, yes Black Spindle does a LOT more damage against, say Golgoroth in the given time span. Outside of boss fights is where the winner gets a little fuzzier. 1000 Yard Stare can roll with firefly and triple tap (I believe) as well as various performance perks that Black Spindle doesn't have access to. It can also roll in three different elements. This makes the Stare more of a "daily driver" than the Spindle, which effectively makes it better for the average engagement. Spindle needs to be able to freeload to be at max effectiveness, and in the fights where that is possible, it's amazing. It hits very, very hard, but if you have to reload, it takes a hit in dps. Boosting the reload speed of the the Stare through gloves and perks can make for a big difference in heated fights. Just my opinion. Both are great, but the Stare is great in any engagement equally, where Black Spindle is a boss nuke primarily.

U can't beat spindle DPS wise with a thousand yard stare if spindle is not missing a precision shot. I find thousand yard stare to be a better overall sniper just because it's legendary and more versatile but I'm always gonna be using spindle for war priest and golg
-
4 OdpowiedziWith fast reload in aura perk on the gloves make 1k stare better IMO because I usually out dps everyone else on my fireteam. But I also don't have black spindle so I can't say much though. What is black spindle critical on golgoroth hard with tether and WoL
-
10 Odpowiedzifor warpriest I out dps black spindle 90% of the time with my raid gloves having sniper reload and faster reload in aura I reload basically instantaneously, plus it allows me to use NTTE which is becoming my new favorite exotic.

1 OdpowiedźI have black spindle but like using my sleeper stimulant instead and then switching to 1,000 yd stare. Sleeper stimulant with weapons and tether gets like 26k on Warpriest. Not sure what a spindle does , guess it depends on the level, but don't think you can go wrong either way. Both should do good dps.
-
Yes. Bye bye black spindle
-
1 OdpowiedźThey're made for separate parts of the game. Black Spindle is obviously a PvE weapon, sure some guardians may use it in pvp as well, but it's way more inclined to PvE. 1k yard stare is just a quick handling, more than 3 round sniper. It's just more maneuverable in pvp. End of discussion.

2 OdpowiedziI'll take the Eirene over the TYS in the raid every day of the week.

Aim assist

Probably is is a great for PvP and PvE. I have both and tend to use the 1k. I don't like the scope on the bs. It's slow and bulky

Edytowany przez użytkownika Sas: 10/31/2015 8:37:03 AMWell... If I have 24 rounds for my 1k yard stare I still end up having to fire my primary at the end of the warpriest dmg phase. The black spindle has a little less ammo reserve, but with the slower fire rate I'm not sure how much dmg difference there is. I think my 1k has higher warpriest dps. However, ok golgoroth when we one orb it, I tend to get the hammer.

My only argument would be using the Vanguard Vendor 1k Stare with Triple Tap on a Warlock with boosted Special Ammo capacity. If we are talking pure DPS, nothing will beat Spindle. But if we are talking about firing all of your ammo and seeing which does more damage, I believe this is much more of a contest. Triple Tap gives another round every three shots, assuming they are precision hits. If I'm carrying 24 rounds and reload after every 3rd hit to maximize this capability, I'm firing 3, getting one back, and reloading. Doing the math, this gives me 36 shots with my full ammo capacity, as opposed to the Spindle's 18. Extra Impact or not, if we have time on any boss to empty ALL of our special ammo, my Warlock with the 1k State will outdamage any Spindle getting twice as many shots fired. But, again, if we only have 15 seconds, I'll take the Spindle all day. Just depends on how much time we have.

2 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika TheS1lentT3rror: 10/31/2015 4:25:25 PMMy 1000 yard has explosive rounds so it does 1.5% more damage per shot so it does more damage than Black Spindle.
-
I don't have black spindle, so I just use 1000 Yard Stare and Sleeper Simulant combo at Warpriest and Golgoroth while at deathsinger and oryx I use ToM for the exotic slot
-
1 OdpowiedźIt's cause 1000 is so versatile. Usable both for pve and pvp

4 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika DrKrFfXx_: 10/31/2015 2:32:16 PMBS only excells at those encounters. 1000s Yards with Triple Tap and Spray and Play and sniper gloves, plus the faster reload Ambush scope gives, it can be just as deadly to take down bosses. It can reload in about 1.5 or less seconds with sprint cancel. So, with some numbers taken from exxtrooper spreadsheet, a 1000s headshot represents about 92% of that of the BS, while firing significantly faster. It takes 17 seconds for the BS to empty the clip and the ammo reserve for a gran total of 100% damage. During those 17 seconds, a 1000s can fire some 18 bullets, reloading times included, for a grand total of 92% the damage done by the BS, while still having three bullets to spare, which you can use to proc another triple tap bonus (triple tap gifts 1 bullet per clip, you get 4 free bullets for a total of 23-24 shots across 5 clips). So no, BS doesn't crap all over a well rolled 1000s. It beats it by the smallest of margins, while you can have another exotic primary, like Strangers Rifle to keep the DPS flowing once you run out of ammo.
-
I can get off 29 shots with my 1000 yard stare in the war priests dps phase compared to 18-21 of the spindle I have gauntlets with fast reload for snipers and the reload buff from the aura I tested this once I used my stare and he used spindle both the same light level we used all of our sniper rounds then we wiped as soon as oculus activated and I was a little short of 100k damage ahead of him. It's a different story on golgoroth as there's no aura to buff the reload so spindle is always better there but war priest the 1k stare can be better with the right gear setup
-
One thousand yard stare is a legendary that can have amazing perks. This allows you to use a high impact sniper and another exotic (Sleeper, ToM, Raze-Lighter etc). 1000-yard stare is also easier to upgrade to higher attack than black spindle due to the fact that it is legendary. 1000-yard stare gets all 18 rounds out on Warpriest as well (at least for me it does).
-
BS takes an exotic slot which makes it situational. Highest impact and possibility to empty mag without reload make it amazing. 999+1 YS is legendary, possible to roll godly. Great impact makes it my "go to" when not using BS. Both are great.
