I see some people arguing against a Christmas festival because it's "offensive" to some.
Seriously?
Have we gotten so sensitive that nobody is allowed to have any fun or do their own thing anymore without crying "but it offends [i]me[/i]"
This mindset is toxic. You aren't allowed to do anything you like anymore without some random kid saying "You can't do that because I don't like it too." If [i]the whole world[/i] doesn't agree with you, we just can't do it.
Forget that the [i]majority[/i] celebrates the holiday in some way.

7 OdpowiedziI'm happy people are agreeing that this would be cool, but when the same poll was made for Ramadan, the majority said no. It's disrespectful, depressing, discriminatory, and unjust. Why? Cuz them damn Isis muzlum tururists are guna kill us all? No. Not all Muslims are terrorists. In fact no [b]true[/b] Muslim is a terrorist, because Islam is a very peaceful religion, yet when people see Isis on the news they suddenly think that all Muslims are evil. Which would be like saying that all Jews rip you off, or all black people will rob you. Doesn't sound very nice does it? How do you think the Muslims feel?

2 OdpowiedziWhy does it have to be Christmas? Why shouldn't it just be winter holiday related. It's a moot point anyway since they'll never do something specific to a religion. I can't recall any games doing something Christmas specific. I could be wrong but...

How about a "winter festivle" that takes place from December 20-27 (or whatever the reset is within those days and last for a week) and their could be festive decorations and up-spirit music and we will be given a gift from the city below for our hard work.

It has nothing to do with offending people, it's just that by having a specifically Christmas themed event, you're suggesting that celebrating Christmas is more important/valid than any other holiday around that time. A "festival" of some sort is different and universal, Christmas is not celebrated by everyone.

Who cares? Why does a holiday offend you? Literally has no effect on your life. If they did a festival for Ramadan or some other holiday it wouldn't bother me. I'm in the US.

I highly doubt it'll be a Christmas event, but more or less a winter event. Ribbons and such, but nothing like Santa Claus or anything of that nature.

People are offended because it belittles their religion in some way. "my religion is better than your religion" "my religious holiday is better than your religious holiday" The actual truth about Christmas is that not that many people celebrate Christmas for the birth of Jesus anymore. It's more about family get together and getting/receiving presents. Santa's presence is much more popular than Jesus because it's much more fun for the kids and the kids happiness is what matters most. Only strict religious families do the whole celebrating Christmas around Jesus's birthday. Mostly everyone celebrates Christmas whether they're religious or not cause it's just a fun holiday to do. People wanna respect other people's religious beliefs and so everyone says happy holidays to be sincere and kind to others personal ideals.
