Today I finished the Kings Fall raid. Tbh I was so pumped to finally do it. I hadn't had much time to do it, but today.
When I first joined the group I found on the forums everybody was pissed that when they asked for 300+ I answered in a humble way saying "would you mind having a 295?"
In response, they where mostly like: "oh great, another person to carry and drag through this."
They asked me if I had any experience in the raid, I simply said "I have not the slightest idea what to do, but I can hold my own." Again, all the players got so frustrated and pissed that I didn't know anything, yet they had no idea what I was capable of as a guardian. So eventually they started the raid with me. I play the raid almost flawlessly I died only a mere 2 times! And that was when I was the last guardian standing!
More of them had trouble with the jump puzzle than I did. i mean seriously?
But no matter what, I wouldn't say "haha in light 295 and I'm better at this than you!"
Never ever once did I say anything of the sort. I just simply stayed quiet.
We fight hard until we reach the war priest. Although this isn't too far into the raid, we still manage to get stuck here. I eventually found myself leading the team. I made the callouts of the orders of pillars and everything. They all listened to me. The original party leader was extremely upset that a 295 light level Titan that he almost wished to kick out of the group, was now taking over his 304 hunter.
So we continue to fight the war priest and the team has no luck. I admit, I was no better at this either. But it seemed that people where turning against each other. People where blaming other people and I lost control of the leadership role.
Eventually the original fireteam leader spits out in the middle of the chaos "this is what we get for letting a 295 into our team"
After that sentence, there was a long pause. Nobody really spoke, because everyone truly believed that I was actually the one who they didn't have to worry about, it was him.
After about 2 more tries on the war priest, the fireteam leader finally yells "THATS IT GET THIS NOOB OUT OF HERE!!" quickly after, I here "NO NO" and "DUDE WTF" or "Wow man really cool". Then I am removed from the fireteam.
I was never invited back and I was left out with nobody to do the raid with.
Later, I get a message from the leader saying "you suck dude, kill oryx and send a clip to me when you beat it in 2 months -blam!-"
I simply reply "make that 2 hours"
He lashed back saying "yeah right kid in your dreams"
So I look on the forums and I find a full team full of people with light levels lower than 298.
This was my golden opportunity. I had to prove it to this guy that I was not holding the team back at all from my light level or skill.
Luckily we had a member that had an Oryx checkpoint. I didn't want to skip the sisters or Golgeroth (I think that's his name?)
But we did it anyway.
4/6 of us had no idea what to do. The nice leader simply explains what to do and with a lot of hard work....
1 hr and 31 minutes.
He's dead. My first Kings fall raid completion.
Right after I got the rewards, I told my group of new friends what I was there for. They all stood by for a group clip.
I inspected them all to show they had less than 298 light and sent the clip to him with my guardian Slowly clapping while Oryx's Dead and frozen body floated towards Saturns Atmosphere.
He later replied
Lol wow your a -blam!-ing idiot, that's -blam!-ing fake.
It's good to win.
Edit #1 Anyone know how to get the link of the Video from the smart glass app on iOS?
Edit #2 For the people saying I died more than just 2 times. By technicality this is true. They were team wipes that we all volunteered in. I myself died 2 times from the fact that nobody wanted to die but they did. So we wiped not wanting to wipe. So basically I died not on purpose 2 times
Edit #3
I Think I understand why you guys maybe are saying "Liar! He tried with the same fireteam 3 times!"
Well I guess that's true because we had to head into orbit 2 times because of lag. So that's the issue
Edit #4
1500+ replies!!! Thanks for the support! Stick it to the big guys eh?

Well done, bud. Reading stories like this is awesome. If there's one thing I've learned about this raid, it's that light level doesn't matter as much as people expect it to. Some people get luckier than others with drops, but I've done the raid in the past where a low-300 guardian could stay alive better than a 315 guardian.

Being carried by a strong group isn't winning, but self accomplishment is good for a little guardian :)

4 OdpowiedziI like reading stories like this. I myself am very shy when it comes to playing with new people I don't know. I never ran VOG or Crota's end because I was to nervous to ask for someone I didn't know to help. My cousin and I were asked to run the Kings Fall raid a couple of weeks ago and I was like screw it and we did. It was fun to run. I kept saying when or if we wiped that it was probably my fault. Now I am almost always top dps or the one explaining the raid to new players. I would sherpa groups through the raid if I could. People need to stop trying to be elite and help others out. They forget they were once new to the raid also. I say good for you.

Good on you mate
-
Ive completed the raid as well expect for the Deathsingers and Golgoroth.
-
Way to stand up for yourself. Glad you have the patience for oryx and that hunter.
-
I was the same way when I first started raiding, vault of glass, hard mode, I'm a lvl 29 at the time. Everybody else, 32s. Kept blaming me for their screw ups since the person with the relic always seemed to -blam!- up the jump to middle platform to shoot Atheon from the bubble, after a few tries with the same mistakes on the 32's parts, they kicked me. Got another team, only one 32 in the fireteam. We completed it first try.
-
Haha man super cool!
no one cares
-
To be fair you did skip the whole raid.
-
Favorited and bumped. Always love the underdog. Vecause ive always been underestimated as well.
-
This is the greatest. Nothing infuriates me more than people who can't take responsibility for themselves, and feel they need to lord it over others to make up for their shortcomings. GG OP

Edytowany przez użytkownika ItsWesleyNL: 10/26/2015 11:29:45 PMNice man! And yeah, there are teams like that out there. I myself don't look on lfg, got enough people on most times to make 2 different raid teams where i know what each player is capable of but that's not really fun and interesting. I like to take players (like you) who haven't beaten a certain raid and ahow them what to do and all tips and tricks. Began at crota, learned a lot of people how to run sword (running sword or relic was a dying artform in my opinion) always picked people out of tower to "teach them" and i am planning to do that next reset in king's fall (did it once, but it was a friend who had no time before to do the raid) Edit 1: i was 311 light on my titan after hard raid came out (didn't beat it yet because i just got a new job) and 309 on my warlock. Got a 303 and some 305's/307's to oryx aswell

My first time was when i was at 287 and at first they thought id be a sandbag... I wasnt.

3 OdpowiedziDude. Good for you. Inspiration. I love proving elitists and try hards wrong. It is great bringing them down a level. Kudos.
-
2 OdpowiedziFeels good to win, doesn't it man? I remember my friend Matt and I were talking SOO much shit to these people on Gears of War who beat us, and the next 3 matches we spanked em. Like it wasn't even a competition. It was great. But congrats man. I'm always down to Sherpa people through the raid. I love helping people out. And it helps that I make my explanations pretty simple to follow.
-
This is pretty damn cool man. Good Job!
-
nuh uh!

6 OdpowiedziYou still haven't made an edit with the actual truth. You're scum man. Attention seeking liar. Ppl have called you out for misleading others, and you don't even have the integrity to come out and make an honest edit. You're trash.

You should have sent invites to the other people in that group and watched them jump ship to your group.
-
Good for you bro!!! happens all the time with me as well. people are dicks and don't realize that there is a first time for everything.
-
It's funny how I did the raid for the first time at 290 and just did everything except Oryx at 304 this weekend in HM. I'm top 2 in DPS 95% of the time, usually top 1. Oryx on hard mode light is a little more important so i get that. In my experience the groups with ridiculous expectations are the douchy ones you want to avoid anyways brother. Find people who are fun to play with, and laugh it off when a wipe happens not get all butt hurt
-
Sounds like bs to me.
-
Great story, I almost wept

Grats bro. Sorry you had to deal with a douche canoe who couldn't see past his own ego.
